Answer
1.) what kind of backpack should I get?

-I suggest two, a backpack and a tote, so I can switch every now and then. Maybe a expensive tote, and a none expensive back? vice versa. Are you living in a 'rich' town or just a normal town? Where I live, I live in the 'normal' town per say, and like 2 minutes away is the richer part. The normal kids go to high school in the richer part so we all try to fit in. (:

2.) should i also have a tote/purse?

-I think so, but it depends on your budget. Also it depends what studies you're doing.

3.) should i get a vera bradley, PINK by V.S. backpack, john hart, michael kors??? or is that stuff too fancy?

-My sister got a Louis Vuitton but doesn't use it at all, so I suggest Vera Bradley or PINK by VS.

4.) what do the cheerleaders carry at your school?(backpack, tote, clothes, ect.)

-Cheerleaders, they put they're cheer clothes in their cheer bag, sometimes bring extra clothes, but they act normal, they are not the stereotypical type of cheerleaders that are mean and preppy & think they own the school, so don't go into your new school thinking that stuff.

5.) what do the preps usually carry?(backpack, tote, clothes, ect.)

-They usually carry backpacks, except for some really preppy fashiony girls who carry totes and purses.

6.) what do normal kids carry?(backpack, tote, clothes, ect.)

-Backpacks.

7.) do lots of kids there have designer totes/backpacks/purses?
In the 'richer' part of town, where the normal kids go to high school, yes, most people have Michael Kors & Louis Vuittons, And Vera Bradleys etc.

But honestly, to survive, go with your style and don't believe in what everyone says, go with your gut. Be your on person and not a copy cat figure of someone you want to be. Because in the end of high school, you're all going off to different places.

going back to school for your young child!?

Pattilynn

Just looking to see what other parents are doing with there children for the school year. I find september alot like December ,only a little less expensive. when parents say " i only need backpacks and inside outside shoes.. " i laugh... As much as parents HOPE school isnt going to break the bank , it always puts a nice dent into it.

Most kids ( where i live anyways. ) get

2 new pairs of shoes (can be expensive if your a footlocker fan )
suppiles ( have anyone seen the gr.1 list this year? WOOZERS! )
haircuts
new socks , undergarmets , jackets,sweaters , hairbows, etc...

i am talking about pre, kindergarden , grade 1 children... i can imagine it gets worst as they age... at least that seems where its taking me...

wondering whats on or checklist for your young child for the upcoming week?

Answer
Some of the things needed can be bought a little at a time long before school starts.
For instance, next Spring look for sweaters and coats on sale. Socks and underwear can be bought ahead of time.
Backpacks, lunch bags, school mats, and other school items often go on sale at the end of the school year.
Also, if you are crafty you can fashion hair bows and other accessories yourself during the summer months when most of us have to spend time inside out of the heat anyway. Keep a 'scrap' box in the closet where you toss items that are no longer useful but have beads, fake gems, fancy buttons, etc on them. An old scarf can become a fancy belt when threaded through loops on jeans. A stained shirt can be worn under a spaghetti strap top to give dimension to an outfit. Beads from a broken necklace can be sewn onto the neck of a plain shirt to 'fancy' it up.
Use your imagination. It's fun.

Answer
Wow people just use lunch boxes like everybody else your not going to get teased. Some use fancy ones some use bags that don't look like a lunch box. Use whatever you want it doesn't matter. My friend uses a Roxy lunchbox and I do to.

What are good high school lunches?

Q. I know this is the wrong category but all the other ones aren't so busy right now! Thanks so much for putting up with me!! Im going to high school in about 2 weeks and i dont know what to bring for an everyday normal lunch. All suggestions are welcome. I went to a weird private school where all the kids had fancy stuff and all. I don't like the caffeteria food .. heard its not so great. What do you have for lunch in high school?

Answer
yea.. ur gonna get flamed for having this in the wrong category. its cool wit me tho :)

A good high school lunch would consist of maybe one or two sandwiches, a fruit, a desert, a snack, and a drink.

i.e.
One or Two PB&J or Relished meat sandwiches
One Apple
A Lil' Debbie snack
A bag of chips
A can of soda or a bottle of orange juice

Short, sweet, to the point. And it accomplishes its primary mission; satisfying the appetite :)

Does anyone have ideas for an alternative to a Party Favor bag?

fancy school bags for kids

fancy school bags for kids image
Q. My 5 yr old daughters bday is coming up. Party favor bags are fun, and deemed necessary for proper party ettiquete. However they are expensive, and basically filled with usless crap. I am wondering if there is an alternative? Perhaps something small and with more worth then candy or cheap crappy toys, that is fairly inexpensive that I can give out as a parting gift?
Thanks

Answer
I totally agree. I call those goody bags full of cheap plastic junk "bags of crap". We can all do without another bag 'o crap. Most of it I throw away anyway within a day of my kids bringing them home. I have done books as well; trickier with 5's as most of them aren't reading yet, but I've bought boxed sets from the Scholastic book orders the schools send home and given those books out; they end up being about $2 each. I will give a book with a fancy lollipop (hard to describe but it's on a 10" stick with a heart or flower shaped candy piece at the end. That way there's still the candy element but not so much that it's overkill. With 5's you need to assume a parent will read the book; go with something with mass appeal like Strawberry Shortcake. Maybe if you go the book route you can consider those paint with water books.

I've also given out seasonally appropriate t-shirts; one of my daughter's birthday is in May and I have given out patriotic tshirts (in stores for Memorial Day, continue wearing all summer/4th of July.) These shirts are easy to find at Target for $5; a little less at Kohls if you use a coupon. Again I package with a lolipop. I have seen them on kids all summer. Other friends who feel the same way have given out hula hoops, those skip-it things (like a jumprope that attaches to your ankle and has a ball at the end), and a stuffed fairy. There are a lot of perfectly cute toys out there in the $5 range; too cheap to give as a gift but perfect as a "party favor" which is what you are giving instead of a bag of crap.

Five year olds might not "get it" right away as to why they aren't getting a plastic bag filled with yo-yos that don't work, teeny paper pads they don't use, etc. but it's fine to explain you are giving "one nice thing" instead of a bunch of "little stuff your mom just throws out".

What do I need to know about going to private school?

tigurrr14

I mean like how to wear the uniforms, what people do to show off (public school its like clothes, purses, hair, ect.), what the teachers are like, ect. Also its a Catholic school.

Answer
Well I've been at a private school all my life so I can probably help you out.

Uniforms:
-If you have to wear a polo shirt, only button one button unless your wearing a different color tank underneath, in which case, don't button any buttons
-HEM YOUR QUILT/SKIRT!! If you don't you will be a loser for life

Showing Off:
-Usually they just wear their hair in a ponytail with a ribbon or straight and long, nothing too fancy
-Since they are in uniform, so all out with the labels on free-dress days (:
-Most don't carry purses, but the tote bags are usually designer

Teachers:
-The teachers are more dedicated and more strict at private schools
-DONT slack off in class! The class sizes are small and unless you have my Latin teacher (very doubtful), than you can't get away with it
-Most kids suck up to teachers by getting good grades and acting interested in their class

Good Luck (:
