I just graduated from high school. I was vacationing with family in South Africa and was in the CapeTown Waterfront Alfredo mall. This area (the Waterfront) is a tourist hub and is very posh, and safe, and security men everywhere because itâs the heart of the city. I was with my sister and mom who were in the bathroom so I was waiting for them on the bench opposite to the bathrooms. Some guy by mistake tries to enter the ladiesâ bathroom. I point it out absentmindedly that that is the ladiesâ bathroom (there was no sign on the actual door). He gets angry and tells me that its none of my business and then tells me âpeople end up dead talking shit like that (to me)â My first instinct was that this guy was embarrassed he was caught and I should have minded my own business but I later realized it was my business because my mother and sister were in the bathroom. I actually agreed with him inside because he threatened me! There wasnât anyone around (although shopkeepers were in their stores) when he made the threat even though I knew there were security men prowling around the area not far. I just listened to his shit and tried ignoring him while he âput me in my placeâ with his threats trying to school me. I was bullied in high school and I did the same thing I did to the bully to him, except this guy is not some prick I have to put up with till graduation. This guy is a stranger who Is threatening a tourist to his country. Itâs the real world, I donât have to put up with shit like this anymore, what he was doing was criminal. Iâm pretty unfit so I didnât want to escalate the situation so basically got intimidated and kept my mouth shut. He was a big white guy about 6 2 and he walked away threat accomplished.
When he threatened me I thought of replying to him and ask him if he was serious about threatening my life, loudly so everyone could hear, but the words couldnât come out of my mouth. Itâs like my body just shut down. I wasnât even afraid of him doing anything to my life; I knew he was just talking tough to a fat kid on a bench full of shopping bags. I also had just gone skydiving to confront my fears, and when this happened I felt I just fell flat on my face. They say that a coward dies a thousand deaths in his one life. My failure at that defining moment was a cowardâs death I guess.

You are being way to analytical of yourself.
He is a piece of shit, who was embarrassed he almost walked in the wrong bathroom.
Instead of him laughing it off, like a normal guy would, he spewed his bully child like mouth.
These people are everywhere and its not you who should be judged, its him or them.
I believe so strongly that what you put into life, is exactly what you get back.
He is his worse pay back.
Do not judge yourself in comparison to a prick.
