What are the typical bags for high school students?

So I'm incoming 9th grader this year, and I just moved to the States from another country so I have no idea what it's like in high school here. Do most freshmen girls use jansport backpacks? Or totes? Also, if you can suggest what would be a great bag (convenient, enough space & something that can match most outfits) please indicate them in your answers below. :D Thank you!

So most girls will use either regular convetional looking nylon backbacks:

I personally own a "canvas" backpack and it matches every outfit I wear because I have quite a "hipster" (a mix of indie-granola-vintage-army) style. If you're not much of a hiptser, I would consider for you getting either a plain bag (like the first option), a jansport bag or simply a weekender.

If you are going to high school, get a CUTE tote!!! that is the BEST!

Why bother with a small purse and books in hand and all that!! Practicality is of great importance!

Get a cute tote that will not only carry all your stuff..makeup, books..gym clothes.. but will also make an ultimate style statement!!
