Why cant kids wear backpacks in middle school?

At my middle school and highschool they won't allow backpacks or bags in class because they suspect that you're carrying a weapon or illegal things. Back when I was in 8th grade (3 years ago) some kid brought a rifle to school and put us in lock down. And he was expelled. That same day, we had a bomb threat that I nearly got expelled for. I was so in shock I couldn't cry or anything. It was insane.

What are the types of JanSport and North Face backpacks that kids wear to school?

North Face is for mountain climbing, but a lot of people wear it to school. What type of backpack from North Face are those? And what type of Jansport backpack do kids wear to school? Like Superbreak, Jester, all those. Which types? And i mean the most stylish builds and physical design.

Usually with backpacks stay simple. A regular 2 strap backpack with up to 3 outer pockets is great.
I dunno, just an idea.
