This is for a school assignment and we are debating this topic.I need ideas opposing to banning plastics. Thanks!
Answer
In reality, plastic is necessary.
Plastic accounts for the vast majority of packaging, and material in producing most household products. Even clothing made from materials like polyester all trace from the same materials used to make plastic. Without plastic, most clothes, electronics, and packaged items would need to be made from something else. The average TV set (not including panel TVs) are enclosed in black plastic. Every packaged food item would be in paper, and is extremely susceptible to water and damage. Drinks would come in metal bottles or paper cartons. CDs would be outlawed. Pipes would hav eto be made out of metals, many which have toxic elements. And everything from tupperware, ziploc bags, classroom chairs, and fuel tanks for cars would be no longer around.
This is what would happen if plastics (all of them) would be banned.
Plastic is indeed harmful, since it is made from oil. But so is paper! Those are trees! Plastic composes the majority of everything we see and touch. there is no avoiding it. removing it would be removing clothing from society (really.)
