What kid of backpack should i get?

Q. Im starting high school and i need a backpack it dosent have to be big and i want a design on it. very colorful but not neon. maybe from roxy billabong or pac sun ect. i only need it to fit like 3 books sooo... any ideas?

Answer
http://www.jatalo.com/shop

These are perfect :) They're cute, like Urban Outfitters backpacks, but durable, big, and affordable. books71 gets you 10% off.

and for every backpack they sell, they donate a year's worth of textbooks to a child in need (http://www.jatalo.com/mission).

Are J World backpacks good/nice?

Q. My brother's girlfriend wants to buy a J World backpack but since not a lot of kids have that backpack brand she doesn't know whether to buy it or not.

I don't really care about backpacks or know how to critisize them so are they a good brand (she is going into the 10th grade)

Additional: The backpack she wants is red, black, gray, and white in a crop type pattern (almost plaid).

Answer
I've had one for about four years now and it's now beginning to tear. I had a black and red big zipper type that I bought only because it had a big zipper. Until then, I would buy a backpack every year because either the straps or the zipper would break. All of that to say the backpack, from my experience, is very durable.

Teens: What sort of school bag do you own?

Q. Also, how big is it? I've never got how kids can carry their textbooks, folders, binders, etc. in small bags. They must do their homework in school since you need those books for homework.

I currently don't own a schoolbag but I would love a Sonic one. I saw this really nice retro one online but like all retro things I'll never get it..

Answer
I have a Jansport backpack with zebra print. It has enough room for binders and notebooks etc, although I don't carry much. My school has a set of textbooks for home and one at school so space isn't really a concern.

is a jansport backpack to small for high school?

Q. So im gonna b a freshman and i was wondering if a jansport backpack was too small of a backpack. Just the normal 2 pocket one.

Answer
No, I've used jansport backpacks since Freshman year and it was very comfortable and fresh.
That size of a backpack is what you want to stick with because big backpacks will not look
good. 2" Binders and lots of papers can fit in there. Even workbooks. You will have to carry
your textbooks but trust me its better than looking like a geeky kid with a huge bag.
You can even switch things around and put a textbook in your bad and hold your binder and you'll be fine. I'm doing very well without a locker. I don't even need one.
(My school took them out because of drug problems in the 80's lol.)

Can you bring Wheeled backpacks into Disney?

love

We are planning a trip to disney. Can you bring wheeled backpacks into the park?

Answer
As long as they meet Disney's standard size. You can check out disneyworld.com for more information on the exact size and what is allowed in the bags. Disney also has lockers that you can rent, so you will not have to worry about someone staying with the bag. You will not be able to take the bag on the rides with you, so you will need someone to watch it. If you have small kids then rent a stroller and get a regular bag.

How can I sleep well without thinking about my crush?

Q. For three years I had a classmate I knew, she is currently 16 but when I met her she was like 9 or 10. Anyway we went to the same elementary school together for one whole year and then I never saw her again... or so I thought, when I went to this new school three yeas ago I met up with her again, I was 11 and she was 14, strangely enough I kinda thought she was cute, for some reason I actually thought she was cute, but that kinda makes sense 'cause I'm growing up, so, as time progressed I saw her more differently every day until the year was over. The next year I wound up riding with her and her family everyday to school and back. my parents don't have time to take me to school everyday so I ride with her, and every day I started talking and getting to know her and I thought she was cool and then I soon realized I had a crush on her! I was shocked to realize this, what's worse, that same year there was this other guy who flew all the way from the Philippines showed up and me and my class thought he was cool but then later on he told me in front of my face he liked her too. I was shocked and devastated, so, I played it cool and told him okay, he didn't find out that I liked her too so I was happy about that. I kept this a secret to myself for a whole year, and then he got to talk to her and got to know her and I guess you could say I was a little jealous... a little... so eventually another year has passed and I became a freshman and she became a sophomore, the whole year I became a jerk, a weirdo, and a creep to everyone I knew at school, they knew me as a young, short, immature, annoying, little kid, and as soon as I tried to change my image from immature to tough, mean, and aloof, I immediately became a jerk to everyone, they all were used to me being an annoying, little goofball, who'd knew? So anyway during the middle of the year I was so tired of keeping my secret a secret because my friends were so nosy I had to let it out; man, what a bummer! turns out they already knew the whole time... they claimed I may have let out some clues and I guess it was pretty obvious, so yeah, it was a bummer...later on the year like at the last three or four weeks before graduation she invited me to her church, that's right, we're christian, so I went to her church, and I met some familiar faces, anyway after that day, I don't know what happened but for some reason she wouldn't talk to me, when I would talk to her she would talk back but in a "I don't want to talk to you right now" kind of way, I didn't do anything wrong either! What in the world? So this happened for two weeks, maybe three, and every night thes past two to three years, I couldn't sleep, now it's the last two, three days of school, This Is Where The Crazy Thing Happens! three days of school left and the day just ended, we are waiting for our ride, who comes and picks us up? Her jerk of a brother! I have had a grudge against her older brother for a while now, the whole ride I was angry for no apparent reason, and I think I may have been a little too hard but I was angry. As soon as we reached my house he said bye but she didn't. I got out the car, got my bags from the trunk, and I have no Idea how this happened but apparently I have become strong, so strong I don't know my own strength, and everyone has noticed it, I slam the trunk by accident, and she is like "Don't slam the trunk next time",and because she hadn't talked to me I thought it's payback time, so instead of saying okay, I gave her a thumbs up...bad idea, she must have thought I was giving her the finger, when she saw my thumbs up she yelled out "I'm calling your parents to tell them we're not picking you up anymore...that broke me... she never was so angry like that before, not to me at least, I was crushed, and I realized what I had to do, so I went all the way to her house just to apologize, that didn't work, as a matter of fact, she found me even more creepy than I already seemed. As soon as I was done, I left her house and I soon found myself at my old school where I first met her, and I cried, and I went back home. It's been five weeks since then and yesterday I went online to google images cause I was bored and I typed my crush's name and there she was with the guy who had a crush on her too, and I flipped. So here I am at 12:30 a.m. typing the details of my question to figure out how to forget her and the images of her in my head, because I can't sleep please help me, I am exhausted, depressed, and in love... please help me, and thank you for your cooperation.

Answer
I think you should try your best to move on.
Yeah it's hard :/
Maybe change into a nice guy and see where that gets you :)
I hate that you cried over her and I don't get why she did that after inviting you to her church. But, I wish you the best I really do.

How to make 3D animal model?

Q. For school I need to make 60-90 centimeter black tailed jack rabbit. It needs to be light enough to hang. I was wondering if anybody had any ideas on how to make it? I would like to use household or inexpensive items.

Answer
For a *3D* item that large (basically 2' x 3') to be "lightweight," you'd probably be using papier mache (hollow). Here are some papier mache rabbits being made:
http://www.papier-mache.eu/en/blog/blog/papier-mache-easter-bunny.html (then covered with paper pulp clay)
https://secure.flickr.com/photos/22643209@N07/3557465261
http://www.lbrummer68739.net/easter/paper-mache-bunny (over lightweight "recycled" materials rather than totally hollow)
https://www.google.com/images?q=papier+mache+rabbit
lessons: https://www.google.com/search&q=how+to+make+tutorial+papier+mache+rabbit

Or you could use something like Celluclay, or homemade "paper pulp clay" which contains the same materials but the paper wouldn't be in strips--it would be ground/soaked/blended to a pulp so would act more like a clay when wet (that would also be hollow). Celluclay may also contain a bit of plaster.

Those materials could be used over temporary armatures like balloons, or permanent armatures like crumpled newspaper, plastic bags, polystyrene peanuts, etc.
And for the exteriors, you could use a lightweight clay as above, or fabric, or plastic garbage bags, etc.

Or you could just use lightweight items from around the house or balloons, etc, then glue or otherwise attach them together in the shape of a rabbit.
http://rubyreusable.com/artblog/?p=1061 (bubble wrap held in place with tape, wrapped with plastic bags)
https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+make+rabbit+recycled

You'd probably want to paint the paper-based-exterior ones after drying to add colors. You'll also need to seal the paper-based ones to prevent any moisture damage, but if you use an acrylic paint or enamel paint (in spray or brush-on form) you'll be sealing the materials at the same time.

You could also use a lightweight clay like purchased Model Magic, etc, but that would be pretty expensive for even the shell of an item/figure that large.

First Day Of School Mid-Term?!?

Q. HELP. I am moving from England to Scotland, and not only will I be English, I am also from a tiny village and used to classes of around 10 or 8 children- now I'm moving to the city and the classes are of 40!!!

I am very nervous that I won't be accepted as the 'English Country Bumpkin' and will be 'The Weird New Kid' forever :(

Also, people tend to label me as emo (?), scene (obviously the hair and clothes) or rave (the Kandi beads) and I'm not sure what it is like in Edinburgh (the city)...

Are there many people who dress alternatively (I mean, big pink hair, skinny jeans, bright graphic tees, cute... childish?) because then at least I can find some cool people to hang out with...

PLUS... any tips on making friends?! Like, what do I say? Who do I talk to if there is no one dressing similar to me???

Thankyou...

DYLAN.

PS.
Is this okay for the first day there?
Miss Sexy black skinny trousers (skinny hipsters, not baggy and gross like normal trousers.)
A blouse (duh.)
The school jumper that everyone has to wear (with the sleeves rolled up, obvs.)
A few Kandis on my wrists and arms
Loads of kawaii and bright layering necklaces out of jumper
A few bright rings
Light makeup with natural false eyelashes (Benefit), my pale lip glass (MAC) and finally some light blush (Benefit).
My neon and black PB bag (only one schools let me take in but don't really rate it T.T)
Oh and also some totally black converses....

THANKS -kisses you- HA HA -hugs you- :3

OOOW and PPS. I'm 14 :P
Sorry if this is in the wrong category everyone :L :L

What to bring on an overnight field trip?

Q. It's 3 days and 2 nights...this will be my first time going on an overnight school trip so I'm pretty excited!!! And yes we're allowed to bring whatever we want, like iPods and whatever

Answer
Have you ever heard of the Duke of Edinburgh award? Its an English award that involves camping and walking and there will be a list somewhere of useful stuff to take. Not sure if you're doing your own cooking or not but take snacky food for when you're in the tent late at night and wanting a midnight snack! Obviously a sleeping bag and roll mat but take plenty of layers because when i first went camping I underestimated quite how cold it was at night! This is based on a place thats usually about 15 degrees in the day mind so maybe isnt the same where you are. Take a torch, useful if you need a late night toilet trip so you don't fall over guide ropes - been there, done that, collapsed someones tent! As a warning, tents can get a bit humid at night and cold so if you take stuff like your ipod and mobile I would make sure they were wrapped in clothes or sealed in a bag so they don't get damaged. Make sure you zip your tent doors up as well if you're gonna sit and socialise outside it for a bit before you go to bed because flies and condensation and everything gets in - another thing I've learnt from experience! haha Anyways I hope you really enjoy your trip!

how to use toilet for my MUSLIM children BOY /GIRL?

Q. how should i start training my child in UK ,

Muslim parents will understand my concern since us Muslims use the toilet sitting , and we also need WATER for cleaning in the toilet..

Here in London there no "Muslim toilets showers" in the toilet for adults ..

Anyway, how do i handle toilet training for my kids? especially keeping in mind they will be going to non Muslim schools (no toilet use water)

Do Muslim parents in UK train their kids to use toilet paper? or find some way to use water in home toilets and some other option ( toilet paper etc ) at school?

is it ok for muslim kids in UK not to use water? just toilet paper.?.. and do muslim pee etc standing up or sitting ? ( muslim do it sitting)
someone please advise me.. only serious answers please..

Do I allow my son and daughter to pee while standing up?
To use tissue instead of water?

Is it against Islam?

What do other Muslims do?

Answer
You can use bottled water or like baby wipes. You can pack them little bottles or in zip lock bags so they can take with them. Your daughter should sit down and your son can stand up. Or you can use paper towel saturated with water and placed in a zip lock bag.

does this boy like me,?

aldfjaljdf

okay so there is this boy that is new to our school and i sit by him in math, well we are always joking around, the stores of us are below.

one time i was choking on this laffy taffy and one of my friends london started patting me on my back then the guy i like, joseph, started pattying me on my back, well then my stupid stupid self looked at him like he was crazy and he stopped.

then one time i had my head on my desk and joseph sits in front of me and he put his head on mine, and i just started laughing,

then the other day he did the same thing above ^ and i was half asleep and when we took his head off mine i was like i was half asleep and you woke me up, and he looked at me and was like im sorry, and i was like haha, your fine.

then this other guy that sits next to joseph, scott, asked me if he could throw a pencil at me, and i was like okay whatever. and joseph was like ill hold her down, and he liked held me arms so i wouldnt move.

then one day i walked into math and he was like hey blakely, thats me, do you have a dollar and i was like yeah, and i usaully call people a d bag, if you know what that means, and he was like for a d-bag your pretty nice, and i said im always nice. and the next day he was like i brought my wallet today and i said haha, and then i was like haha today must have been a forgetful day because i left my keys at home so i end up locking myself out of my house and i had to walk to my grandparents and he just started laughing,

then yesterday, i asked him if he was going to spiritail day, were we get into groups of 10 and you go and help the community, well its only girls in each group and then guys in each group so he cant be in my group well anyways he said he didnt know and then asked me if i was going and i said i guess, i mean i have to now, because im the photo-grapher, yeah i know i didnt think before i spoke, and joseph was like you mean photographer. and i said haha yeah. thats what i meant,

but for what i think, i think he likes me. but he has my number but never texts me. and i have his but i dont want to text him first because him and this other girl are talking, i think., so what should i do to hit to joseph that i want him to text me!

and when i say talking, that means they arent dating but they are thinking about it., but joseph never talks about that girl around me.

oh and he knows i have texting.
I forgot to add that yesterday Joseph and will were throwing the football and I was like will throw it here, and when will throw it Joseph jumps in front of me to catch the ball, and I just look at signs to look for to see if a guy likes you and one of them would be to impress you.

Should a child who has arthritis running in the family have a rolling backpack or a carrying backpack?

Q. I have arthritis. And my child wants a carrying backpack for school. But I'm scared to buy her one because I'm afraid that she will develop arthritis. Should I not buy her one or is this not true?

Answer
What form of arthritis do you have?

If you have osteoarthritis then her developing it will no be related to the fact you have. If you have autoimmune arthritis then there is a possibility she will develop it, however this is not high. I've heard children of people with autoimmune arthritis are 5% more likely than the general public of developing arthritis.

Using a rolling backpack rather than a carrying one is not going to make any difference if you're worried about her developing autoimmune arthritis. This is caused by an immune system that attacks itself. If you're worried about osteoarthritis, then the truth is that she will probably develop it regardless. Nearly everyone develops osteoarthritis eventually.

I've seen a number of orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, rheumatologists and GPs, none of them have recommended a rolling backpack for me. I've had arthritis since I was 8 years old and it affects my spine.

It's best to make sure her backpack is not too heavy and the weight is evenly distributed across her shoulders. If you can get one with a clip across the stomach (and she'll use it) then this will help spread the weight further.

I hope that's helpful.

.....

My child is carrying too much weight in her backpack - HELP?

Sara S

My daughter doesn't always have a lot of homework, but when she does even I find it difficult to carry her bag. She is 11 years old and is in very good shape, but her backpack is more then she can handle. I have talked to her school and they will not allow roller bags for saftey issues. On a normal day she finishes her homework at school, but there isn't always enough time and she has to bring it home. Can anyone recommend a bag that is better suited for heavy books then the ones you can buy at target or walmart? I don't so much care about the cost, but let's be honest I am single mom who can't afford a $400.00 dollar bag. Any suggestions on a good option please let me know. Thanks.

Answer
If you can, copy each chapter of her book or contact the publisher to see if there's an electronic copy you can purchase. The e-copy could be expensive. Have her carry the current chapter their working on and the next chapter in her bag plus the required notebooks. Use notebooks that can use paper refills because she can take out and file away old notes until finals. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics. For example, a child weighing 100 pounds shouldn't carry more than 20 pounds. Try talking to the school and make the PTA aware of the issues you're concerned about.

Another option is to contact the publisher or look online for second copies of your daughter's books. She could then have one set at school and one at home.

What are the best netbooks for under 500 bucks?

Q. There are people that say you can't do anything on cheap computers like this. All I plan on doing are internet, videos, and word processing. Will netbooks do it for me?

Answer
Netbooks are generally for that purpose. with 1.6Ghz and 1 or 2GB Rams it still run most programs smoothly.

There have been hacks, that allows you to install MAC OS in there. I also saw some videos showing some netbooks like the MSI Wind(2GB RAMS) run popular games such as counter strike, doom etc.

Actually i bought a netbook recently from store.imaninc.com during an event they held at my school(Ngee ann polytechnic) They are working great and i actually like the netbook as it rather light and fits into my hand bag well.

Some major flaws are i can't run photoshop smoothly. It works ok with dreamweaver and Auto CAD. Thus its not so hopeless.

Anyway i have the Pink MSI Wind. Not sure about the rest of the brands. It cost me 739 at the online store. Were retailing at 759 at that time . not sure about now.

But below $500 . There should be an asus eee pc. Can ask the staff they are quite responsive to questions.

What ranking in tennis would i need to get a tennis scholarship, or at least on a division 1 tennis team?

Owened

i am working on getting top 500 in 18's national ranking, but would that be enough to be accepted.

Answer
If you are [for example] ranked at #500 in the USA, hmm, it might not be enough to start at a strong D-1 school. OTOH, D-1 schools are not all the same, so perhaps you could get a scholarship at a not-so-strong D-1 school. A high sectional ranking might sound better than USA #500.

Keep in mind that with NCAA Division 1, you're not just competing with American kids, but foreign kids as well.

Check out Division 2 and Division 3 schools and see what's out there. D-2's offer $ assistance, while D-3's are not permitted to offer any assistance. Some D-2 and D-3 schools have very strong teams, and some D-1 schools are not that great. It's a mixed bag.

Spend some serious time with this web site if you're not familiar with it already:
http://www.tennisrecruiting.net/

If you don't have the book below, I recommend that you get yourself a copy.

Best of luck :-)
