Answer
The first link just pisses me off. The second link, on the other hand, just makes me sick. I cannot believe that any teacher would even consider doing either of those things, and the fact that the PRINCIPLE defended the actions of the teacher in the first link is... I'm at a loss of words to describe how against this I am. I can't even imagine what I would do if I were a parent and my kid brought home something like that. I would dedicate myself to getting that teacher fired. Maybe it's a bit extreme, but the only time politics should be brought into the classroom is in a debate setting where both sides are expressed equally.

Backpacking in Canada - Backpacker Jobs?

Dick

Hi guys,
Im from Australia and my friend and i were thinking about backpacking around Canada next year (2013) for almost a whole year.

We were hoping to get a backpackers job working on a farm as farm-hands helping out with general farm duties, feeding animals, cleaning up after them, walking and interaction ect. Not a farm as in cows, more like chickens, dogs, smaller type animals. Even a husky farm that we've heard about.

Or alternatively working at a lodge, helping around doing all kinds of duties. Cleaning, serving customers, making beds, cleaning rooms ect.

Since we would be staying until almost Christmas, we were hoping for free accommodation and meals where ever we would be working but in return for docked pay.

That would be the ideal backpacking experience for us anyway.

So my question to you guys is, which part of Canada would be best to visit to find backpacker jobs in the Farm-hand, lodge, animal care, general house duties type jobs. Even things such as looking after kids and helping around the house would be fine.

If there would be a Canadian website where people list jobs for backpackers that would be a huge help. Kind of like www.gumtree.com.au here in Australia.
We would most likely leave for Canada in February. We both dont mind the weather. We both only know how to speak English. We would be backpacking on a IEC visa program.
There are plenty of farm/nannying/house duty jobs in Australia that are listed on www.gumtree.com.au that gladly accept backpacker applications. Is there a website like that in Canada?
Overall, it would be an amazing experience and i cant wait to go!
We were hoping to work for almost a year and then with the money that we saved we would explore Canada.

Answer
You require a work permit in order to work in Canada or stay longer than 180 days each year. "Working holidays" visas are offered by HRSDC through a program called the Youth Experience Program. Only a limited number of visas are issued each year -- based on the number of Canadians which visited Australia under similar programs there. Competition for these are usually extremely fierce and they tend to fill up within days or weeks of opening.

There is no assurance you will actually find work in Canada. In most cases, if you don't prearrange some type of work, you'll find it difficult to find much in Canada or find it promptly. Few places hire workers for less than three months at a time. Most minimum wage jobs also won't typically cover costs of living. Backpacking may sound wonderful, but in reality, if you don't have a vehicle, you can't get to work every day. Hotels get expensive after a while and so does eating out.

Farm work is certainly possible. However, you'll be working at a farm for months at a time -- and there isn't much to see there as they tend to be in fairly remote areas. Most work is also not terribly pleasant -- fruit picking, cleaning stables, etc. Chicken farms in Canada are not cut little chickens... they are massive factory-like facilities with thousands of birds. There are no "husky farms" in Canada. Dogs are held in kennels and few bread more than a dozen or so dogs. The only place you'll find large numbers of huskies as non-pets is in the far north. There is no unemployment up there, most are Inuit lands, and even children know how to care for their animals.

Best places for Youth Experience Jobs, tend to be off-season tourist locations. Camps, ski resorts, hotels, rafting, other outdoor activities, restaurants, movie theatres, etc.. during the non-summer months (not May through August, as Canadians are often in school). Farm work tends to be either prearranged or extremely seasonal... fruit picking day labour and such.

I heard somewhere that in some parts of Japan, it is a popular fad for teenagers to carry around little plushies of Stitch, Doraemon, Totoro, Hello Kitty, or Pokemon and take them to school, carry them in their bags, etc. What is this fad called, and does anyone think it would catch on in the United States?

Answer
It's a common teenage fad, especially characters from Sanrio and San-X or Disney. Even working adults have similar collectibles such as Iphone casings, phone straps and everyday items. We all like to personalize our belongings..more traditional folks carry good luck charms and small cat figurines that symbolize good luck/wealth.

What would be some awesome designs for a tote bag that's for school?

You're Jos

I'm going to this store where l get to design my own toe bag, but l don't really know any designs. So l was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for one?

Oh, and a few things l like are hello kitty, owls, zebra print, tie dye, neon colors peace signs yadda yadda yadda. Pretty much anythingg.

Answer
hmm... how about u try a zebra print background with peace signs in alternating patterns ( like a checker board but without the checker colors unless u like those colors) and maybe you could have a hello kitty charm and attach it to the zipper and use the charm to zip your bag open and close... hope you like the idea

Alright, I'm just seeking a little help-chat from someone.
I just need to get this out of myself and ask the world what should/can/may do!
Ok, I'm an 8th grader, I have ADD, and I'm mostly a B or sometimes C student (83%'s & 75%'s).
I can do really well on tests if I study hard and have interest in the subject, sadly I don't.
My problem, even the teachers confronted to my parents, is that I NEVER DO MY HOMEWORK.
I'm doing O.K. on tests, average, just a bit more studying should make them better, but I RARELY GIVE MY HOMEWORK IN TIME.
Listen, I just don't know!
I always get distracted!
I always forget!
I just get carried away with relaxing, going outside and playing some soccer, or even just staying inside all day and being on the internet!
Right now, I have history homework and science homework that's due tommorow.
I'm not going to complain or whine how I can get motivation, I just need some tips or someone to criticize me or tell me what's wrong with me! I just can never keep track of time of me doing my homework! Even today 1/3/2011 @ 10:25PM I just discovered tommorow I have school!
I never have interest in history or science or math or anything else, my only true passion is of being a Lawyer. I always win arguements. I always find up some good-nice cute excuse to the teachers of letting me an extra day to complete my project or that my flash-drive with all my documents dropped out of my backpack in my carpool ride or whatever. I know, I need to have very good grades to pass the exams in highschool to get in a lawyer school, and of me just winning arguements and being a good liar is only a probability of 2% of being a lawyer (I can be specific, but I just want to get down to the point).
1) I always forget of completing assignments on time (I rarely do complete them on the assigned day).
2) I always get distracted by the internet, watching videos on youtube or going on failblog.org or whatever, I'm just...I don't know, I'm LAZY to get up, be a man and deal with my homework and complete them.
3) I just need some tips or adivce or even some criticizm of whats wrong with me or what I need to do!
4) I have a MAJOR, and when I say MAJOR, I seriously mean MAJOR habbit of completing homework at night (2:00AM-4:00AM), and I despite myself for doing this because I need minimum 6 hours a day to sleep or else I become tired and fall-asleep during classes.
5) What I would greatly appreciate, and I really will do as much possible as I can on answers.yahoo.com to reward or assist that person in my power that has been through the same phase that I am currently in and replies to me with feelings he/she at that time and how he/she overcame it.
I will at the end always do my homework at midnight, and I'm just tired of this habbit!
Please respond maturely.
Last check:
1) I have a habbit of completing homework at night (2:00AM-4:00AM) and I need advice or tips how to overcome it.
2) I always forget when assignments are due and I have a problem of keeping track in time.

Please notice: All that I am asking is advice or tips of how I can start being a normal kid, of how I can just get on with it and do my homework as soon as I get home from school!
I'm really just an average 13 year-old teenager, my only problem is keeping track of time, completing my assignments on time, and a habbit of completing my homework very late at night.
Please once again, mature responces only.
You will greatly help another neighbor in-need, and I hope that if your advice or tips do help me, that may God reward you someday (I'm sorry if you are an Atheist, I respect you all and I have no urge or need to change your belief. All of us have our own rights of choosing our own path.) Please if you are an Atheist and you are understanding or understood with what I am going through, please don't be offended. Please share your opinion and ignore my ''may God reward you someday'' part, I go to a Catholic private school, so I am who I am.
Alright, I'm so sorry, I got a bit over-carried XD
Anyways, please respond.
I will greatly appreciate it.

Answer
You are a normal kid. With diff rent needs. Here are a few tips. Get a small timer and time yourself. Set aside a set time to start and finish home work. Do you have a watch? This is a very help full tool as well. Keep your school work organized use folders. Keep your environment as organized as possible. Relaxing music is also very help full. If you have ADD by law you are not to be held to the same standards as the other students. Tell your parents to go to the school and have the modify your requirements on an IEP the Individualized Education Plan to enable you to have less home work. No child should be up struggling so late at night with home work.

I need to find a way to make laminated cards about the size of a credit card.?

Donna

I am trying to make tags (either plastic or laminated paper) for kids backpacks and their sports bags. I would really appreciate any information on how to do this without spending 1,000.00. Thanks

Answer
Also, there's a difference between "laminating sheets" or pouches (which are used with pressure and heat) and just the self-adhesive sheets of clear plastic sold by the small or larger box at office supply stores which can also be used in the general definition of "laminating" ---these would be the equivalent of having an 8 1/2 x 11" sheet of clear packing tape, with a removable backing sheet stuck to it.
I always have a box of these around because they come in so handy for many little laminating jobs.

Here are the self-adhesive laminating sheets I'm talking about, like these by Avery:
http://www.avery.com/us/Main?action=product.Details&catalogcode=WEB01&productcode=73602 (their photo shows laminating a larger certificate, and folding over from the *short side* though not the long side as I mention below)
or this one:
http://www.discountofficeitems.com/avery-dennison-selfadhesive-laminating-sheets-ave73603-office-products-1442.html?manufacturers_id=10318&cPath=200001_200087_200093_114183 )

To use one of these over a small cardstock/paper/plastic card while still leaving a border of clear lamination on all sides, one way to do it would be to:
...Cut a rectangle from the plastic sheet (still on its backing paper) that's a little wider than the width of the card (long edge), and twice as long as its short side plus a little more.
...Peel off the backing sheet and lay the adhesive plastic down sticky side facing up.
...Place the card on the plastic near the bottom but with a bit of a margin left.
...Then carefully fold the rest of the clear sheet down over the card *leaving a margin at the top where the sticky sheet will stick only to itself*... kind of roll it down so you won't get any wrinkles you can't smooth out with a fingernail.
...Now trim away with scissors any of the extra lamination you don't want on the 3 non-folded sides, and run a fingernail or butter knife around the margins next to the card to completely seal it in.

You can also do this *without leaving any excess lamination* around the edges by folding the lamination sheet tightly to the card in the foldover step, and trimming away *all* the excess clear sheet, but that may leave the very edges susceptible to water, etc.

You can then punch a hole in the lamination border only, or in the card-and-lamination area, with a hole punch then add a ball chain or some kind of cording, etc.

I've done this kind of thing before often, and it works well.

P.S. If actual packing tape is wide enough for what you want and you have some around, it can be handled and cut more easily if you lay a long piece of it onto waxed paper first (which substitutes for the backing paper of purchased laminating sheets).

Hi, recently I got married to a woman who already has a 7 years old kid.
I found out that she is still wiping his butt, giving him a shower, carrying his school bag to school (sometime to the classroom) brushing his teeth and choosing his clothes (yes he cannot choose his clothes by himself).
I am trying to change all those habit as I think that it is a bit too much, but I am not sure if I am wrong or not.
Oh and he also refused a few times to walk and she ended up carrying him until home.... But I could change that bad habit.

Answer
Yeah, that's beyond being a mamma's boy. She's not doing the kid any favors by coddling him way too much. The butt wiping and the showering...just a big fat NO! If the boy doesn't know how to wipe his own butt or shower himself at age 7, then that's mom's fault. Talk to her. Gently. This is her son, and before you came along, I'm sure it was just her and her boy. Tell her there's a man in the house now. They are not alone, and she is not alone. Tell her to let you be part of his life, and that includes man-ing the boy up a little. Do guy things.

How do you make Happy Meal Treats to take to school?

gensler97

I have heard of moms sending these to school before. They are individually bagged for each kid, with a treat that resembles a hamburger, fries ( I think it is those string chips ), a drink, and a little toy.

Answer
Are you looking for a little treat that is shaped like a hamburger and fries? Or are you looking for fun lunch treats in general?

Here is a snack combo treat that resembles a burger and fries. The "burger" is a cookie and the fries are like a peanut butter fudge. They are from quickcooking.com There are pictures at the website.

Cookie Burger
http://recipes.tasteofhome.com/eRMS/recp.aspx?recid=7956
INGREDIENTS
1 package (17-1/2 ounces) sugar cookie mix
2 drops yellow food coloring, optional
1-1/2 cups peanut butter chips, chopped
TOPPING:
3/4 cup flaked coconut
5 to 6 drops green food coloring
FILLING:
1/2 cup butter, softened
2-2/3 cups confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup baking cocoa
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS
Prepare cookie dough according to package directions; add yellow food coloring if desired. Stir in peanut butter chips. Shape into 1-1/4-in. balls; place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten slightly with a glass. Bake at 375° for 9-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
Place coconut in a plastic bag; sprinkle 5 to 6 drops green food coloring into bag and shake until color is evenly distributed.
In a small mixing bowl, cream butter until smooth. Add the confectioners' sugar, cocoa, milk and vanilla; beat until smooth. Frost the bottoms of 22 cookies; sprinkle with coconut. Top with remaining cookies and gently squeeze together. Yield: 22 sandwich cookies.
"You may substitute your favorite sugar cookie recipe for the cookie mix; just add the yellow food coloring if desired and the peanut butter chips"

Peanutty Fries
http://recipes.tasteofhome.com/eRMS/recp.aspx?recid=7957
INGREDIENTS
1 package (10 ounces) peanut butter chips
1 cup sweetened condensed milk
Paper muffin cup liners (2-1/2-inch diameter)
Red icing, optional

In a microwave, melt peanut butter chips with milk; stir until smooth. Pour into a foil-lined and greased 9-in. baking pan. Cool completely at room temperature. Lift out of the pan and invert onto a cutting board.
Remove foil; cut into 3-in. x 1/4-in. strips. Fold muffin cup liners in half, pressing out creases; fold in half again. Fold point under; use as holder for fries. Use icing for ketchup if desired. Yield: about 3-1/2 dozen.

I have an essay due about why we should get the school rules changed about school bags and i came up with that reasong but i need examples to help support it.

Answer
If they 'allow' this it will:

1: Save time - as students will not be constantly going to get books from a locker.

2: It will allow students to organise their bags in the morning so that all that they need is in the bag.

3: They can leave some items in their locker and carry some so their bags are not too heavy.

4: If children are taught how to carry bags/backpacks correctly on their backs then certain problems will be alleviated.

How to carry your bag correctly:
Dr. Skaggs suggests the following to alleviate back pain caused by carrying too heavy a load in a backpack:

* ALWAYS USE BOTH SHOULDER STRAPS: "It's important for children to use both shoulder straps instead of simply slinging the backpack over one shoulder," Dr. Skaggs says. "Using one strap can cause children to walk improperly and places all the load on one shoulder."

* PACK CORRECTLY: Dr. Skaggs recommends that heavier books and items be packed closest to the back so that the center of gravity is near the center of the pelvis. Secondly, he reminds children to not pack so that there are sharp comers. "A load on the shoulders will naturally cause you to lean forward," he said. "That's why it's important to distribute the weight evenly."

* SELECT THE BACKPACK THAT'S RIGHT FOR YOU: "The standard two-strap backpack is good for light loads. For heavier loads, a backpack with a hip belt takes the load off of the shoulders and distributes it to the pelvis and hips," Dr. Skaggs said. Dr. Skaggs also recommends selecting a backpack that has a well padded area that touches the back and shoulders so sharp corners will not cause discomfort by sticking into the back.

A boy of just 13 years young died experimenting this game in Mumbai few days back.

Answer
I remember this from when I was in middle school(13 years ago), I would have thought kids wouldn't still be doing it. At the time all they used were each others hands and choke each other, someone would stand behind the person being choked to make sure they weren't injured in the fall when they passed out. It's sad that it's still going on, it's sad that they would do it in any case, but that they have progressed to using ropes, bags, ties and such and doing it by themselves is even worse.I never did get the allure of it, and never tried it. But kids did it all the time at school. Said it was like getting high only legally. What a tragic waste of life, for something that only lasts a few seconds.

Answer
hahhaha i read this. some of them are wrong, lloll, which takes away from the funniness, but its' still cute. like for "paper" it would be "peh-paar" not "fefar". hahaha. here's a funny one too:

A is for Aapish (Office). This is where the average Kolkatan goes and
spends a day hard(ly) at work. If he is in the Government he will arrive
at 10, wipe his forehead till 11, have a tea break at 12, throw around a
few files at 12.30, break for lunch at 1, smoke an unfiltered cigarette
at 2, break for tea at 3, sleep sitting down at 4 and go home at 5. It's
a hard life!
B is for Boka. Meaning phool or eedeeot, often used with an abusive
rhyming attachment which means an absolute phool or eedeeot.
C is for Chappell. This is the Bengali word for the Devil, for the worst
form of evil. In the night mothers put their kids to sleep saying 'go to
bed, or Chappell will come and take you away.'
D is for Debashish. By an ancient law every fourth Bengali Child has to
be named Debashish. So you have a Debashish everywhere and trying to get
creative they are also called Deb, Debu, Deba with variations like
Debnath and Deboprotim thrown in.
E is for Eeesh. This is a very common Bengali exclamation made famous by
Aishwarya Rai in the movie Devdas. It is estimated that on an average a
Bengali uses eeesh 10,089 times every year. (That's counting eeesh and
other eeesh-ish words).
F is for Pheesh. These are creatures that swim in rivers and seas and
are a favourite food of the Bengalis. Despite the fact that a fish
market has such strong smells, with one sniff a Bengali knows if a fish
is all right. If not, he will say 'eeesh, what pheeesh is theeesh!'
G is for Good name. Every Bengali Boy will have a good name like
Debashish or Deboprotim and a pet name like Shontuda, Choti, Poka and
Dinku. While every Bengali Girl will be Paromita or Protima as well as
Shampa, Champa and Buri. Basically your nickname is there to kill your
good name.
H is for Harmonium. The Bengali equivalent of a rock guitar. Take four
Bengalis and a Harmonium and you have the successors to The Bheatles!
I is for lleesh. This is a pheeesh with 10,000 bones which would kill
any ordinary person, but which the Bengalis eat with releeesh!
J is for Jaamaaibabu or Jhaamelaa or Jhola. No self respecting Bengali
is complete without his Jhola. It is a shapeless cloth bag where he
keeps all his belongings and he fits an amazing number of things in.
Even as you read this there are 2 million jholas bobbling around
Kolkata- and they all look exactly the same!
K is for Kee Kaando. It used to be the favourite Bengali exclamation
till eeesh took over because of Aishwarya Rai (now Kee Kaando's agent is
trying to hire Bipasha Basu).
L is for Ludo or Lungi. People in Kolkata manage to play football and
cricket wearing it. Now there is talk of a lungi expedition to Mt.
Everest. That is when they are not playing Ludo on the "roK"
M is for Minibus. These are dangerous half buses whose antics would
effortlessly frighten the living daylights out of Formula 1 race
drivers.
N is for Nangtoe. This is the Bengali word for Naked. It is the most
interesting naked word in any language!
O is for Oil. The Bengalis believe that a touch of mustard oil will cure
anything from cold (oil in the nose), to earache (oil in the ear), to
cough (oil on the throat) to piles (oil you know where!)
P is for Potol and Pantua - the must haves on all Bong meals.
Q is for Queen. This really has nothing to do with the Bengalis or
Kolkata, but it's the only Q word I could think of at this moment.
There's also Quilt but they never use them in Kolkata.
R is for Robi Thakur. Many years ago Rabindranath got the Nobel Prize.
This allows everyone in Kolkata to frame their acceptance speeches and
walk with their head held high and look down at Delhi and Mumbai! R used
to be for "Rok (rock)-bazi" - the quintessential place for sitting and
watching the street idling away till a few years back.
S is for Shala: Wife's brother or the most publicly used swear word in
Kolkata.
T is for Trams. Hundred years later there are still trams in Kolkata. Of
course if you are in a hurry it's faster to walk.
U is for Ambrela. When a Bengali baby is born they are handed one.
V is for Violence. Bengalis are the most non-violent violent people
around. When an accident happens they will shout and scream and curse
and abuse, but the last time someone actually hit someone was in 1979.
W is for Water. For three months of the year the city is under water and
every year for the last 200 years the authorities are taken by surprise
by this!
X is for X mas. It's very big in Kolkata, with Park Street fully lit up.

Y is for Yestaarday. Which is always better than today for a Bengali.
Z is for Jeebra, Joo, Jip and Jylophone.

hahahahahahaha do i get best answer?

Most know Iraq was a mistake. Innocent people are dying, our brothers, sisters, husbands and wives are coming home in body bags. Kids and innocent Iraqis are in the crossfire. We spend billions in blood money, and cant take care of ourselves. Once looked up to now we are despised. Our healthcare is sickening in itself. Are you trying to change things? Do you care? Organize in schools, churches or any meeting places. Look up the facts and act. So my question is who really cares? And whos all talk.

Answer
When you talk all I hear are fa#@ing noises.

Is my wife giving too much attention to our son?

Ryo

Roxy, I find this brand of back packs, the most cute and girly. Amazing quality too. > http://www.roxy.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=3176247

Billabong, another brand that I really like. > http://www.billabonggirls-usa.com/product-cat/189/backpacks

O'Neil, includes tote bags, but you can scroll to right to see the backpacks > http://www.oneill.com/#/women/americacanada/collection/women/product/all/bags/

L.L. Bean > http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/508666?nav=ln-508666

Dakine, not the most popular, but will definitely last a while. > http://www.dakine.com/w/packs/street-packs/girls#color=9

There are many more brands out there for backpacks. & Well known athletic brands have pretty nice bags too, not the most "girly" though (Puma, Nike, Adidas, Columbia, etc.)

How to hug my boyfriend with a bag in my side?

Sparkly Ca

We have quick, friendly hugs bcuz I'm always either carrying something or I have a bulky school bag on my shoulder. How can I give him a loving hug?

Answer
You can try to angle the bag backwards and to the side, so it's further towards your back, or if it's a cross body bag, you can just move it so the bag is on the back of your hip, almost on your bum. If it's just a shoulder tote, you can always just put your bag down or against your leg and go for a hug. Any hug is loving, but the full on front bear hugs are the most enjoyable, so if that means putting down your books, you should do it. Good luck!

I might have scoliosis because I wear bags on my right shoulder?

T o s h

If I started wearing my school bags or purses on my left shoulder for a long period of time, would it straighten my spine out?

It's just a slight curve, I'm getting checked for scoliosis next week.

Answer
Take my advice and start having your bags on both shoulders. I use to only carry my heavy school bag with just my right shoulder and that's probably how I got my Scoliosis. Sure, weating it on the left seems like a smart idea. But it's safer if you wear it on both.

what is most used language in the world?

Answer
Everyone who says "Chinese" or "Mandarin" is wrong.

Mandarin has more native speakers than any other language, but it is not widely learned as a second language.

ENGLISH is the most USED language in world because when you count both native speakers and speakers who learn it as a second or third language, it is far and away the most USED language in the world.

The banking industry and the air travel industry use English almost exclusively. You walk into the airport in Kjiv, Ukraine and all the signs are in Ukrainian and ENGLISH. English is the official second language of Ukraine even. English is the official language of India and everyone there learns it as a second language, as well as throughout much of Africa.

ENGLISH is the most USED language in the world.

Edit for Brian Q. You are wrong still. Mandarin is NOT the most used language. Go to any airport in the world and you will read only the local language with ENGLISH. Go to any bank in the world and you will read only the local language and ENGLISH. You'll never hear a word of Mandarin spoken on the streets of Nairobi, Kyiv, New Delhi, or Lagos. You WILL hear English spoken quite often. When I purchased a Ukrainian translation of "The Lord of the Rings", the plastic bag it was placed in by the store clerk was all in English. Every taxi driver in Kyiv knows a little English and not a word of Mandarin. I have purchased DVDs on both sides of the Atlantic. They ALL have English language options. NONE of them have Mandarin language options. Get your facts straight. Mandarin has the most native speakers--no argument here--but Mandarin is NOT the most used language in the world. I really doubt your research skills when you claim that NORWEGIAN could be in the list of number one most used languages. Get off the drugs. Get some psychological help.

FURTHER EDIT: I continue to be amazed at how many people post answers on Yahoo! Answers who don't know a thing about what they are talking about. Spanish? When's the last time you heard Spanish in any country outside the Americas or Spain? Never. And, of course, I am still laughing at "Norwegian".

Look at the facts, people. It's English. Go anywhere in the world and you can find an English speaker. Go to Kathmandu and try to find someone who speaks Norwegian. Go to Harare and try to find anyone who speaks Mandarin. Go to Dnipropetrovsk and try to find any who speaks Spanish. Yet in all these cities you'll find English being taught in the public schools as either a required or a strongly suggested second language.

KARUR: A Karur lass has courted international acclaim by claiming the overall championship in the 16th International Yoga Festival held recently in Puducherry(old Pondichery).

Coveting glory is not new for 13-year-old S. Sabarithaa who bagged the championship in the female category at the yoga festival besting over 200 competitors from India, China, France, Russia, Hong Kong, Japan, the United States and Germany. She stood first in the preliminary competition. Then came the real test _ she had to test her skills with winners from six other categories for the championship title.

That Sabarithaa did with élan scoring pretty high with her acrobatic skills in the practical side of the competition that saw her perform 10 optional asanas and showing remarkable theoretical acumen in the viva voce part of the competition. The Eighth Standard student of the KVBOA Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Karur, had achieved in 2009 what she had yearned over the past four years.

How do women from other countries carry so much weight on their heads?

the best kids backpacks for school image

jzeb100

The schoo project im doing requires coming up with a solution to help people carry weight that they arent supposed to carry. Average man is supposed to carry 15% of their weight, but many people carry more and backpacks for school kids also cannot hold a lot. Im doing some research and found African woman can hold 70% of their weight on their heads, but how do they do it?

Answer
One reason for the African woman's ability to bear loads effortlessly seems to be her posture. As a girl, she learns to stand so straight that her pelvis and vertebrae line up like a well stacked pile of blocks.

Another reason may lie in her gait. At the beginning of most persons' strides the head bobs up and the body slows; then as the foot moves forward, the head dips and the body accelerates. This bobbing and dipping and accelerating and decelerating requires a lot of effort. But African women put all their energy into moving forward. The vertical motion is absorbed in the bones and soft tissue. Hips bob less than ankles; shoulders bob less than hips; and the head (with its burden) bobs not at all. Thus, while most people bounce along like wagons on egg- shaped wheels, African women move like wagons on round wheels.

I tried putting in some references for you of interesting articles but everytime I do I get ERROR 999!!
Try typing a sentence from above in google to find it. There was also another interesting paper in Nature magazine..

Why cant kids wear backpacks in middle school?

Michelle

i cant wear backpacks to school. wud up with that.

Answer
At my middle school and highschool they won't allow backpacks or bags in class because they suspect that you're carrying a weapon or illegal things. Back when I was in 8th grade (3 years ago) some kid brought a rifle to school and put us in lock down. And he was expelled. That same day, we had a bomb threat that I nearly got expelled for. I was so in shock I couldn't cry or anything. It was insane.

truthseeke

Like when you went to a foreign country what happened to you over their that was fun, crazy, something that you never been or saw before tell me your experience and what country was it and what did you miss when you left that country.

Answer
I have 3 actually. All Missionary work. 1. Mexico, staying with many other people and in a triangle; housing, ocean & very old, worn out bull fighting ring, people selling fish tacos w/lime juice. Exquisite. Low tide, full sun, very easy to fool self, on vacation at beach resort. Sad, and horrific and glad bull ring ended. 2. Nigeria, arrival day; seeing Military guards w/AK47's & 45's on hips, going through customs, I was the only one not open to scrutiny...I used a Military bag instead of a suitcase, as the others did. Two torrential rains, per day, our car flooded, ankles soaked. At bunk house later in the day; hundreds of people ran up to visit and help us unpack our 5 cars, even tiny children. All so loving. I still miss that. Smiles from ear to ear. Joyfulness of small children. 3. Holland, felt like coming home. Van Gogh Museum was the best for me (my favorite artist of all time, to me much better than the famous Rembrandt). MY opinion! No mail thanks! Teen guys trying to eat glass, drumming on a bucket outside Grand Central Station; concerts in Rembrandt Square; they (singers, musicians, etc) would go door to door (cafe to cafe which are side by side with tables & umbrellas), people giving them $; a bus, trolley, train every 15 minutes...grab the train & GO TO PARIS, FRANCE! or a boatride to Denmark or the train on to Germany. Oh what opportunities. Funnest thing done there, was 3 things. Cheese Factory, oh how can I get it into my suitcase, was my thought. Must weight 20 lbs. The Shoe Factory, made shoes of wood, from a hunk lying on the floor. A size 10 would end up being size 86 there. The Chocolate Factory was closed, the Pewter Factory was only making spoons, cool. One working Wind Mill was grinding seeds. Now the funniest was this: We (2 of us) switched a bedroom with one of the guys in our STORM Team. We switched everything, across the hall while he was out "seeing the city" for the last time. Even the door # was switched. But, we kept it all, just like he left it; you know, bed unmade, stuff lying around etc. Then we 2 left the building. Came back later when we felt he would be "asleep"?...no way! He waited for us to return. He had gone to the front desk, demanding his stuff be returned, or calling the Police. Finally, everyone knew it was a practical joke on him. He began to search the floor, and found all of his stuff across the hall. He was laughing when we arrived back and so thankful to us. We had no idea; outside the window was a huge Cutty Sark in the channel, in front of the Maritime Museum. He was able to see the City of Amsterdam, from one end to the other; people driving, walking, boats, birds, tree tops.....when before all he could see was the inside court yard of a 6 story building. A Practical Joke, which turned out super for everyone concerned. We truly miss those wonderful times.
So, IF YOU ever have the chance to visit Europe, GO! Borrow $100 from every single person you know, each family member, all your college, high school friends and GO! Find a reputable place to stay; we stayed at the DTS with YWAM, across from the Maritime Museum. A huge, old, stone building; full of Maritime history. Visit every Museum, walk, travel & take tons of Traveler's Cheques + Cash, store it in several places. Stay up late, go to McDonald's, Dominoe's Pizza next door and 31 Flavors, Baskin Robbins, across the channel and stay out from under eaves; full of spiders. Eat well, and ENJOY!
bye.........zzscape.

My grandmother has to many dogs. How can I deal with the situation?

Rycan

My mother is almost 70 years old (a tiny little lady) and she has 11 huskies.
I have trouble accepting this because of all sorts of issues.
The dogs spend most of their time on the trolley lines I built and only occasionally get exercise. They're high energy dogs and she doesn't have the energy to run them often. She feeds them hundreds of dollars of meat every month, The noise is unbearable, the house carpets are stained with poop and urine, she doesnt know how to maintain the trolley hardware, she struggles with several 40 pound bags of kibble per month and she is complete in denial that it is too much for her...
Im thinking of trying to find them homes behind her back considering an argument we got in where she said, "Then YOU find them homes!", which I think she more so just said to shut me up.
I feel like, if I could get her to say that on a recording, then there wouldn't be any legal issues...
I hate to do this, but we've lived out in the middle of no where since I was 12 and now Im 28. We always live somewhere where there's no jobs, schools, friends, family, no opportunities.
I have a little brother that I want to stay with until he's out of high school, at least, but I feel obligated to stay here and help her. We were supposed to move to somewhere near my brother, but ended up 10 hours away, from California to Michigan, and my little brother lives in Ohio. She argues that we're closer now and I say that it's like jumping at the sun. Yeah you're closer, but I still have to make a journey that may as well be from California... When I do visit Ohio, she's always telling me on the phone how much she misses me and she wishes I were there and that there's so much to do... I pressed and pressed for her to move somewhere within an hour or 2 drive of my brother, but she wanted to live somewhere where there were other mushers. So, here I am thinking that her dogs are a higher priority than her sons future...
I know she's not senile, but sometimes I think she may be a hoarder.. at one point we had about 20 dogs in a large pen and they would get lose and animal control was harassing her and she ended up getting in an expensive legal battle where she had to give up most of her dogs, but ended up just finding homes for some and sent half to a boarding kennel until we moved...

Im just at a loss.. I want to just run away, but my conscience is telling me to stay and help her, but then the other half of me is saying that I have a little brother in high school that I should be with and when he's out of high school, he'll likely go off to college and may get married and I'll only get to see him once a year around the holidays if Im lucky.....
Im tired.. I want to live my own life and make my own decisions, not revolve my life around someone elses dogs....
Well, thank you for reading my rant. I appreciate you time.. If you have any thoughts, I'd be very open to hearing them...

Answer
If you think that she will seriously let you find them homes, then have her sign the dogs over to you. If they are AKC registered, ask her to transfer ownership to you. You, in turn, can contact Siberian Husky Rescue and have them pick up the dogs. This way all new potential owners will be very carefully screened so that they find the best homes possible.

Ok. So. In intermediate school through Middle school I went through some phases known as emo and scene and currently im a freshman in highschool and some of my peers still see me that way and I really dont want to remembered like that so how do I tone it down for now until I have a good budget to go shopping for a new look and where are some cute places to buy clothes and normal teen stuff? Btw my hair is growing out from a pixie so its kind of a bob / shag so there isnt much I can do with it . And its red but im working on getting it strawberry blonde my natural hair color is dark sable brown and I have dark brown eyes. If that helps.. Sorry it was so long. Thanks! Please help.

Answer
It must be hard adjusting with the change in personality, but you will get through it...its a part of life!!!

First, tone everything down, generally. I have never met a "emo" or a "scene" kid before, and I don't like stereotypes AT ALL, but from the little knowledge I have......

Make up should not be defined as tons of black makeup smeared all over the eyes. Again, I dont know if you do this, but this is (unfortunately,) stereotypical, and I personally feel that it might be a little much for school. Light, fresh eye make up is desirable.

The clothes: Dark colors, with rainbow, almost child-like accessories. (Again, this is what I know from YouTube and gossip, so please excuse me, I don't like this type of thing at all.) Try adding colors into your wardrobe, and get classier jewelry, even from cheap places like Khols, Old Navy, or Forever 21. Keep it toned down, yet classy. You can always make a statement through red pants, or a big pair of earrings. I think you should do a deep conditioning treatment, to get your bleached hair healthy and shiny again, and go back to a rich, mocha brown, with natural looking blond highlights in it. Make your hair healthy, grow out your nails, and paint them pretty, spring colors. (Mint, Emerald, pastel purple, etc.)

Hello Kitty backpacks, though I find them cute, can be viewed by others as childish, or try-hard even. Mainstream articles, such as a transport backpack, and a normal iPhone case (A Pikachu one would be considered 'scene') would help with this "transition."

music should not be all Heavy Metal and Screamo. Turn up the radio and sing along to a Katy Perry song!

And at the end of all this, I must say two things. One, I am basing this whole thing, from videos I have seen on YouTube. I don't really know what you do, or what you dress or look like. This is all based on stereotypes and I am really sorry about it, but I def wanna help a girlfriend who seeks help!

And you should also know that 'normal' is all relative.....If there was such thing as normal, this world would be very boring. I respect your decision to go 'punk/scene,' but I also do understand why you would like to 'tone things down' a bit. As you are in high school, grades are becoming A LOT more important than looks, so you don't want to do something that will make you self conscious. Be confident with who you are, and what you have got. If you have that and a smile, it will never matter what you look like!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have fun with the new you, and Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:)

Tell me how it goes!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is the hottest backpack for school this year?

Q. My kids, 13 and 9, are very much into brand names and labels (not a good thing). I was just wondering what everyone here would consider "the hottest" schoolbag to go back to school with.

Answer
I would recommend Jansport. Not only that they're durable, but they are "in" for almost 4 years. However, they cost around $40 each, but their company is famous and they have a lifetime warranty. I own one and it's not bad. Even though the price is high, in the long run, it's worth it and the kids will love it. Oh, and about what brandinono said, Louis Vuitton handbags alone cost well over $1000...no wonder why only PRIVATE school girls carry them.

Adding bangs may change the way you look! (Something like Selena Gomez's bang styles?) Layers and/or a face frame, too.

Makeup? For a thirteen year old, I wouldn't wear that much, but maybe http://www.seventeen.com/hair-skin-makeup/ will help! (: I'd definitely play around with your eyes (hazel is a pretty cool color!) and your lips.

Change your school bag. Flowy, cute dresses would be really cute. Or something more edgy if you do that already (vests, a cute pair of high top Converse). Accessories like dangly earrings or flower rings (like this:https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiprPkr5lqeWcl-Zz_d8FttXqnozjeVMfvK0RJ3nny-001JfMMgPe9F-LExqov0H1Pzdollca6G9GFUxCn22uT5Hl77mbzHNNd8Y9Cm9TED3r1Y6ieMEfTu4Gly_mBjko9yXj7albzexRIZ/s320/chanel+pink+flower+ring.jpg).

Take a peek in magazines and at celebrities (maybe a girl whose style you like?) and see what they wear. Be inspired!

There's my whack at it. Good luck. [:

Difference Between Kids Backpacks And Normal Backpacks?

Patrik

I was wondering what was the difference bet\tween a kids backpack and a normal backpack.
I know for one they have stupid designs like T.V. characters but is there anything else like how its shaped or any features it has.Its about an argument I'm having with some one.

Answer
The size. Kid's backpacks are usually smaller. Apart from what you have already mentioned I don't see any other differences.
