Q. im going back to school in a few weeks and figured id take all my supplies and notebooks and stuff in a backpack, and leave it in my locker. should i just get a smaller bag to take class to class with like my textbook, notebook, personal stuff, and pencil/pens in? can you paste some links for them? reasonable prices...
why should i edit? its a pretty simple question, just give me links for bags!

Answer
Bentley's school day bags: http://www.onlinebags.com/en/Products/Daypacks-23.aspx

Wet Seal for $10 tote bag to carry your stuff to classes: http://www.wetseal.com/catalog/category.jsp?categoryId=178

Yeah, get a smaller bag to take with you to classes, it's much easier that way, especially with the people that knock your stuff down in the halls, like a tote bag!

School bags?

hunter_169

Hi! I'm a high school student and I'm looking for school bags. Can anyone advice me on wha brands, styles, etc... to choose?

Answer
Girls look so uncool with these ridiculously big bags on their backs. To look cool plus have a cute bag with a lot of space for books try Jansport. They are really durable, if you buy one right now it will last you through life. Try this website: www.ebags.com, Their having a sale right now I believe plus you have a lot of Jansports to choose from. I'm wearing an OLD NAVY black messenger bag to school, but I also have a black Jansport. Messenger bags are cute also.

Will kids make fun of me if I have a roller backpack.?

pink angel

I am in middle school and my mom keeps buying me roller backpacks. I keep telling her that the kids will make fun of me and that I need a two strap but she is afraid it will hurt my back.

Answer
she is just caring about your health. years later from now you will have a good back. yet you could just bring the books you need home. and tell her all you need is a backpack without wheels. Just a simple backpack will do. It depends how many books you need to bring home.

Where can I buy an anime roller backpack?

Monica Bus

I can not have a regular backpack; I have to use a roller backpack, but I can't find any anime ones! Help me out, please? (And a teen backpack, not a little kid one. I'm in High School, so I can't have an elementary one.)

Answer
Although I would start with rightstuf.com, I have not seen a caliber of backpack as you mention.

Scared for High School!?

LOLsmileyf

I'm starting high school this year, and honestly I'M TERRIFIED! my best friend of 5 years isn't going to the same school as me, and i feel as if i'm not ready for high school. i'm really shy, and i'm not great with meeting friends, i sort of have social anxiety, i feel like all the people that are going to my high school are above me, and i'm convinced that i'm not gonna make any friends, and if i do, i'm afraid that i might fall into the wrong group of friends, is not only friends that i'm worried about though, i'm taking a lot of difficult courses and i'm afraid that i will fail. plus i really want to join a sports team, but because of my social anxiety, i dont think i can!
(and i know lots of people have asked this question, but i feel that none of the answers really helped/benefitted me)

I have a job interview with Tescos, what questions will they ask me?

xjessica.a

Ive never been on a job interview before so i don't know what to expect.

What kind of questions were any of you asked, and what kind of answers did you reply with?

I just need an idea of what to say and im really shy so i get nervous really easily, so im scared im going to blow it :/
How likely is it that i will get this job?
I applyed for a Part-Time job, but when the woman phoned me she told me "she was looking at my CV job application today and tescos has 2 openings for Temporary 3month jobs, and am i still interested?"
I obviously said yes and she gave me an interview for this Tuesday

and what do i wear, like smart casual clothes maybe?

Answer
Oh boy the Tescos interview was a killer a few years back! They asked me loads of unnecessary questions. I was only 16 and they asked me stuff like when was the last time anyone really confided in you?how did you react? What kind of support did you offer this person? Loads of absolute bull. They take you down into the store after the interview and make you either stack a shelf or pack bags to see how you interact with customers. They didnt give me the job but rather this drug user from my school, Im not stupid either, now going on to study a masters in finance! good luck anyhows and have confidence!

Need to find a specific song?

jonesysgrl

I am trying to find a song to use in an essay I"m writing for school. I want a song that has lyrics dealing with the subject of day-to-day life, and how everyone always just seems so stupid and clueless. (Yeah, it's horrible, but hey...it's the truth.) I looked for hours, and by simply searching by the music of bands I like, I found nothing but songs about love/breakups, etc. (I listen to bands like My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, Paramore, blah, blah, blah. :D)

Answer
Lily Allen has a lot of great songs.

her songs LND and Everything's Just Wonderful.

LND:
Riding through the city on my bike all day
Cause the filth took away my licence
It doesn't get me down and I feel ok
Cause the sights that I'm seeing are priceless

Everything seems to look as it should
But I wonder what goes on behind doors
A fella looking dapper, and he's sittin with a slapper
Then I see it's a pimp and his crack whore

You might laugh you might frown
Walkin' round London town

Chorus
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why ?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why ?
Would I wanna be anywhere else

When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice
But if you look twice
you can see it's all lies

There was a little old lady, who was walkin down the road
She was struggling with bags from Tesco
There were people from the city havin lunch in the park
I believe that is called al fresco
Then a kid came along to offer a hand

But before she had time to accept it
hits her over the head, doesn't care if she's dead
Cause he's got all her jewellery and wallet

You might laugh you might frown
walkin round London town

Chorus
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else

When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice
But if you look twice
you can see it's all lies

Life, yeah that's city life, yeah that's city life, yeah that's city life
Life, yeah that's city life, yeah that's city life, yeah that's city life

Chorus
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else

Chorus
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else

When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice
But if you look twice
You can see it's all lies

When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice
But if you look twice
You can see its all lies .

---------
"Everything's Just Wonderful"

Do you think, everything, everyone, is going mental,
It seems to me that it's spiraling outta control and it's inevitable,
Now don't you think,
This time is yours, this time is mine,
It's temperamental,
It seems to me, we're on all fours,
Crawling on our knees,
Someone help us please

Oh Jesus Christ almighty,
Do I feel alright? No not slightly,
I wanna get a flat I know I can't afford it,
It's just the bureaucrats who won't give me a mortgage,
Well it's very funny cos I got your fucking money,
And I'm never gonna get it just because of my bad credit
Oh well I guess I mustn't grumble,
I suppose that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

[Chorus]
Oh yes, I'm fine,
Everything's just wonderful,
I'm having the time of my life.

Don't you want something else,
Something new, than what we've got here,
And don't you feel it's all the same,
Some sick game and it's not insincere,
I wish I could change the ways of the world,
Make it a nice place
Until that day, I guess we stay,
Doing what we do
Screwing who we screw

Why can't I sleep at night,
Don't say it's gonna be alright,
I wanna be able to eat spaghetti bolognaise,
and not feel bad about it for days and days and days.
In the magazines they talk about weight loss,
If I buy those jeans I can look like Kate Moss,
Oh no it's not the life I chose,
But I guess that's the way that things go,

[Chorus x2]

Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba [etc.]

Hope this helpes a little bit,
Lily

Need help finding this messenger bag...?

anthonyf

I've seen a couple kids carrying it around campus. It's black and brown nylon / canvas, and on the strap there's an old seatbelt buckle like from an 80's Suburban. It seemed like maybe there were symbols for the four elements fire water wind earth on it? but I'm not sure on that... It's just a really cool looking bag and I'm in the market!

Answer
I'm not positive about the type of messenger bag. Maybe the brand Chrome?? www.chromebags.com
They have some very nice messenger bags. They can get a little pricey though.

Another option is to just ask the kids at school where they got their bag....?

Hope this helps.

are rolling backpacks for nerds?

person

are rolling backpacks for nerds or are they just wierd for an eighth grader or are they ok to have or what cause i got one but now idk i dont want to be wierd for having a rolling back pack sorry idk what catagory
p.s we do not have lockers we dont even change classes

Answer
Rolling backpacks are a nuisance if you have a locker, but since you don't use lockers, then I don't see why not... Kids back in elementary school used those all of the time, and they were fun.

At my old middle school, we never used rolling backpacks because they got in the way and wouldn't fit in our pathetic lockers. :P

You should ask your friends if they're using rolling backpacks. Also, can't you just carry it on your back (I know that it's heavy, but that's an alternative to rolling it around)?

Hope you'll be happy with your outcome; good luck.

Where did this originate? Where parents carry the kids backpack?

TS

I was with my sister picking her kids up from school (elementary) and all the OTHER parents were carrying their kids backpack. I mean A LOT of them. When did kids stop carrying their own backpacks? Is this something new? Do you think its right?

Answer
Because parents want to further pussify their kids.
The schools (in their infinite wisdom) are admittedly loading down even the tiniest of kids with heavy books, but that's still no reason for parents to carry their backpacks 50 feet to their MomMobile. Kids don't even walk any more! They get driven even if home's less than a few blocks, and now they can't even carry their own books to the minivan.
Pathetic. Not the kids, mind, they have no choice. What's pathetic is the parents who create this kind of dependence.

Parents these days won't let kids do anything for themselves because the more a kid does for themselves, the more independent they become, and the more independent they are, the less *control* a parent has on them, and total control over everything (until at least age 18, but usually it's closer to 30 now) is the current aim. It's just a sign of the times that parents can't even allow their kids the independence to carry their own bag.

I don't see it as spoiling at all. I don't think most of the kids want this kind of babying; it's the parents forcing it on them. I know that my kids at least would object if I took something as trivial as being responsible for their own things out of their hands.

Do u like this school bag? 10 points?

James

Hi I'm a 14 year old boy and wondering if this manbag would look good for school and also what position should i place the bag to the side or to my back left or right? 10 points good detailed answer. http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_075010780360_-1

Answer
I'm a girl, and I think it looks manly, as it's only black and white, and it's pretty plain. There are a couple of boys at my school who had bags like that. Also, it looks like it can hold all of your stuff really well. I think if you keep it at your side, it would look fine, but wear it however you want. I think it would look fine no matter which way you carry it.

Go make him a personalized card on your computer and print it out. If you have candy or somewhere you can also put some of that in a gift bag - you should have a few lying around still from christmas.
Its not good for you to keep things from your mother though. Shes been there to help you through a lot of things and no matter what you think now that relationship truly isn't serious and tell her there is a guy you like but its not a steady high school thing and you want to get him something small and nice. Yes she might not want you dating, but I'm sure she would allow him to come over for dinner a few times or watch a movie.

How do i stop my obsession with xbox?

Lauren J

I play halo 3 ALOT and i think it is starting to overtake my life i added up how many games ive played and it is 2479. I timed that by like 7 minutes (average length of 1 game) and then divided that by 60 and divided that by 24, and the answer was like 13 point something, so that means ive played the equivilant of 13 non stop days. i want to stop playing so much and focus on my friends and school work. I still want to be able to play a tiny bit but not every day.
How can i stop this obsession? please help.
I dont want to completely give it up

Answer
Take your xbox and place it in strong, waterproof, plastic bag. Seal this with tape, then take the package and a shovel to your local park, dig a deep hole. Bury the xbox and cover it well. Make sure no one sees you do it (or they might steal it). Then start your new life without your xbox.

When you feel you are no longer addicted to it you can go and dig it up again.

Longboarding to School?

Alice

Sorry this is so long for one question, it's mainly all background info

So I am a female, and I started long-boarding a month ago. I got a Globe Dart strictly for cruising and transportation, lets say riding for a couple miles.

One day I was waiting for my friend to finish playing basketball with his other friends so I could car pool with him, and in came boys from my school with long boards. I was puzzled, because it looked like skate boards, but not with their pin-tail look. I was soooo tempted to ask to try it out, but I hate, hate, hate talking to packs of boys like that. It's just not me. I don't want that kind of attention but..

That was how i was inspired to get my own. I thought about it for quite a while, researched... Transportation would be faster, I might fuse some common interests with other kids, etc etc...

And so I got one. I practiced right when it delivered. I fell a total of two times! Not too shabby for my first steps on piece of wood with wheels. Now it's May --almost June and I have gone down a few baby hills. Wussy hills though. I'll admit i even get speed wobbles from them too. I think it's maybe third or fourth nature to me it seems like, because I feel like cruising is so easy now.
I learnt some tricks, like ghost-ride kick flip and...um

The problem is that I want to long-board to school because I miss the bus a lot when I'm not supposed to. When I wake up just to see the alarm clock read 7 am I panic, it's the worst. (i have to wake up at 6:30 for atleast 20 minutes.) And i have to work up guts to tell my mom im late because she has nightshifts and goes crazy without sleep after she comes home.

There fore i want to improvise a 'plan b' to ride to school with my baby (longboard). OK the real problem is is that I don't want anyone to see me longboarding for a matter of reasons.
1) I hate the amount of attention like how boarding is a male-dominant sport and they just stare, unless im with my dog who gets and loves the attention. I don't blame him, he's one sexy @ss mofo.
2) there are SOME girls, i mean like less than atleast 10 girls who board at my school. And im afraid they'll be like "Oh she thinks she's so cool" and crap, but truth is, I don't give a damn and I honestly, honestly, I am not 100% in longboarding just because it's cool, but it's a great way of transportation and the cleshay line coming in--, "to express my self "(i just love the wind in my hair, but not really because when you stop you get really hot and sweaty) I mean thats what express means in my dictionary.

etc...etc..etc..

I just don't want to be labeled as the poser, even though most of my friends know that im the girl who doesnt give a sh*t what anyone says about me, im so washed by the rules of..living, of how we live, a world of judgment. and other problems. So i hate being that girl. Im also not the dress to impress kind either. Whatever i have in my drawer, then there you go. You know? I used to hate flare jeans with my converse... but now i dont care. I just take whatever jeans i have.

So how would i gain confidence that i can walk through the doors and feel normal carrying a gym bag, violin case, and a longboard? (i dont carry all these things) without feeling so dumb and so poser like when im not trying to (im so frustrated) It's already 11:30 and i can already predict that im going to snooze in the morning, but ill stay up for answers. Please give me some advice, to get over what seems so dumb. I know some say just do it but its this one little thing. Even my best friends are like 'you are REAALLLLY going to skateboard from here to there?' because i can feel the tension of them thinking "oh shes a poser", but i really believe that longboarding can change my life. I know that sounds dumb, but it helps me out so much. I hope you read all of this, if you did and answer too:'), xoxoxo make my night please.

Answer
Wow a lot of writing. If you actually like skating and you're doing it for you, then you're not a poser. And if you're not a poser, it shouldn't bother you. Just be you and do what you want and people will get used to it. Hope this helps and have fun skating!

totes for school???!!!?

Q. i'm a 13 year old 8th grader that goes to this really small country school and for next year my teachers are trying this new thing that we are not allowed to go to our lockers in btw classes so we have to carry all of our books with us..... so do you think i should get a tote to carry my books... and if so what should i look like????

Answer
If your school will allow you to do it, the rolling suitcases or totes on wheels are a healthier way to move a heavy load. In recent years doctors have seen a significant rise in back problems in kids your age or a little older, and it seems connected to carrying lots of heavy books. If your school won't allow you to pull your books, use a proper backpack (and show your teachers the article below). Sorry to say, tote bags are the cutest solution but also the one that's the worst for you. Save them just for lightweight stuff.

Makeup? Boys? High School? Teen Questions!?

Taeyoon Mi

Hi! So I have a TON of questions.
1. Makeup- I have never worn makeup except for a few especial ocassions I'm 15 and I look like a little kid :( but I honestly don't want to wear makeup... I know this generation is all about looks but how else can I fix my kiddie look? I'm not exxagerating! You know when you go to Cici's and they have an adults menu and a kid menu? I always get the kids menu! And the Kids menu is only for 10 year Olds or younger :( so please help with that

2. Boys- Ok so I have been asked out before but I said no because I didn't like them. I also don't "believe" in dating when you are 15. I know it might be silly because people start dating when they are like 10, but I think its weird. You always hear those songs, movies, about the depressed girl that got heartbroken at a young age I don't want that, is that weird??

3. My personality- I'm very funny, my friends have told and I do believe it. But when I get mad..... I get mad! I take things lightly but I usually do things to get attention.... I'm not very confident in fact I'm not confident at all. Everything is a task for me. Even changing my bag for school, I always think what would peple say bout my new bag.... how can I overcome it?

4- Cursing? Ok, yeah if your 15 you curse but I don't like it. Its so vulgar! I still do it and I hate it! want to stop but I can't! Its not like i can watch every single thing I say. Does anyone else have this problem? How can u fix it?

5. High School! I'm going to high school next year and I am scared, yeah a lot of people feel like that but I am really intimidated, I'm 4'8 and 15 and I have a baby face. I don't like it and I am so self conscious. Im really scared! Any word of advice?

Sorry for the long questions!! But please help :)

Answer
Hi sweetie, i just recently graduated from high school and hope i can be some help ;)

1. You dont HAVE to wear makeup to look pretty, makeup is something most girls do to attract attention. if your feeling the NEED to wear makeup then your probably feeling pressured by other girls, or you honestly are seeking attention. However makeup isnt a bad thing, not only can it attract attention, for some it gives them confidence. As far as the menu thing goes, i can see the only reason a waitress would serve-you is that you look about their age limit of 10. believe me, stay looking young while you can, your beauty WONT last forever, or maybe the waitress doesnt care if your slightly older.

2. BOYS ARE TROUBLE! focus on your grades, extra-curricular activities, sports, clubs.. etc. Most boys are drama, and only want that ONE thing girls have that they dont. Of course you wont be single forever, so my advice: be VERY selective on who you date. make sure they respect you as a person and never get yourself into something you feel isnt right. You may stumble across a break-up and it will feel like the end of the world... dont worry about it, theres PLENTY of fish in the sea.

3. Who cares what people think of your new/old bag for school?! As long as YOU like your bag, thats all that matters. Dont bother what others think, most of the time their the ones too blind to look at themselves in the mirror. besides, their thinking the EXACT SAME THING about their bag, makeup, hair product, whatever. so their too busy thinking about themselves to look at others.

4. everyone cusses, ya i think its a nasty habit too. Hoever, theres a fine-line between cussing around "friends" and "family". you have to have respect not to use that language around your family, friends are a different story. Dont intentionally cuss to look "cool", its really not and trashy. your better than that. And if you find yourself about to cuss, just pay attention to yourself and "catch" yourself saying it, then correct it. - it only takes 7 days to break a habit ;)

5. High school isnt as scary as it seems... your first few days will seem scary, lost, and BIG. dont worry about your height, im positive there will be shorter people than you! besides, your a girl, and most girl are about your height anyways. After a week or so into school, itll actually get boring. and you have 4 more years of it if you dont move.

i hope i helped answer your question, good-luck and congrats onto High School. Be safe and dont get into trouble, be smart.

backpacks in high school?

karen

uhmm.....im going to high school this year as a freshman last year in middle school i didnt take a backpack because i didnt carry alot of stuff just a 1 inch binder
but this year i am so.....should i take a backpack and if i do buy one im thinking of buying a uhmm...jansport backpack.
tHANX F0R tHE hElP :D

Answer
Depends on how "academic" your classes are (obviously, honors kids need more bag space than kids in regular classes), whether or not your locker is located conveniently enough to use every 1-2 periods, and how much extra stuff you generally carry around. People with frequent trips to their lockers don't really need more than a "cute tote" or messenger bag to hold textbooks and folders for only a few periods, because they'll be taking those books out and replacing them alot. however, if you don't like to go to your locker much, or go to a large school where you're locker is too far away to use conveniently, skip the flimsy and fashionable bags for more substantial backpacks with wider straps and plenty of room so you don't hurt yourself. The best plan is to wait until schools starts and you know where your locker is before you actually buy a bag.

Is it ok for me to hate my own race?

Oli-NYC

I was born in Bangladesh and lived there for 8 years then moved to the US. Now I am 18 years old. Anyways, I just hate Bangladeshis because they are the most low class people in the world. 99.9% of the Bangladeshi people are filled with jealousy in their hearts. For example if me or someone in my family do something successful the whole Bangladeshi community including relatives will simply be jealous. That is just one. I can let the list go on and and on but I just used the jealousy one. Also, they are very cheap with money and they show off for anything.

I know jealousy is a humanly thing, but when it comes to Bangladeshis they all are full of it. I am completely the opposite of a typical Bangladeshi. I am not cheap. In my food alone, everyday I spend nearly $50 on food outside even though my mom cooks home everyday. I just really don't care about money. I believe money comes and goes. There are so many Bangladeshi people who I know starve themselves when they are hungry because they don't want to buy food (they don't want to spend any money) but they are loaded with money.
I never feel jealous of anyone else, because of their success or accomplishment, but rather I just don't care or in some cases feel happy for them. I also never show off. Those typical Bangladeshis would show off to everyone that their child is the smartest when he/she is not. I just hate that.

Bottom line, I hate my own race. I don't want to feel like I am Hitler, that's why I am asking on Y!A if that is alright. Everyone I tell this to, they call me crazy.

Answer
I'm from Bangladesh and I can understand what you are trying to say. I have been to many countries and also lived in 2, Karachi (Pakistan 19 years) and Tabriz (Iran 2 years) and Dhaka till now.

I came across another User of Y!A of your background and experience (Bengali living in USA) who posted similar question and tried to send him my personal view, in line with what many have said here too, using his Y!A e-mail media. I got a shocking and very agitated reply from him and I refrained from contacting him again.

The reason I am telling you this thing is that it is okay for you to be angry with your friends or relatives from Bangladesh who are acting mean (as per you) wherever they are living. But please see to it that most of our people are not properly educated and nowhere there is scope for them to learn mannerism or etiquette etc. See school text books are teaching everything but not how to behave in society.

I had been to Singapore 5 times and every visit would amaze me the way their TV and Newspapers are propagating or training citizens about what are right things and what are wrong. These 'trainings' are being imparted on a population who are almost 100% literate and the penalty of wrong doing is one of the harshest for them to behave otherwise. However, what happened back in 1992 was that a night-shift worker of some workplace was travelling by his motorcycle back to home, carrying sales proceeds in a plastic shopping bag. Unfortunately he met an accident and the money was strewn on the road and pavements. Well dressed commuters driving very costly cars stopped and started pocketing the money, instead of helping that poor chap.

Though this is a very rare incident as reported in their newspaper and TV, but it showed that we human beings are indeed greedy and selfish by nature no matter how much we are trained or educated. There is a popular saying that if God would allow you to sin without any punishment then there would be immediate chaos in this world. Remember, there was power outage in NY sometimes back and many people started looting and vandalizing shops since nobody would see them and arrest them in the darkness!

We the Bangladeshi are at the bottom rung of the societies of developed countries and you are looking at us from that high pedestal of a matured society in USA. I appreciate your anger for these meanness as mentioned by you about our own kind of people, but at the same time would recommend that please do not let your anger take over your good humane side and destroy your fine qualities in the process.

Among the countries in Asia and Middle East I would say that the people of Iran (for that matter, Turkey too) are worth emulating for their being courteous and selfless among friends are relatives. Visit that country (Iran) and then come to India, Pakistan or Bangladesh and you would understand what a society or leadership can do to mould the character of a nation. We needed Kemal Ataturk, Reza Shahâs father, Lee Kwan Yeo, Mahathir Muhammad, Park Chung Hee and such selfless leaders who could have molded the people when we were ârawâ.
Unfortunately, we have been electing one after another inefficient and/or big-mouthed leaders, right from our inception in 1971, who are having very big size greed and ego to nurture than seeing to it that our people are developed in the most basic aspects of being a good citizen.

Sorry for the long post, but you really jolted my heart for which I have no complain. But hope you could read between the lines and try to help us improve from this quagmire we all are in now.

Happy living!

WHAT DO YOU FEEL ABOUT OBAMA?

Michelle L

hOW DO YOU FELL ABOOUT OBAMA WINNING AFTER YOU READ THIS????? (PLEASE READ ALL)

This election has me very worried. So many things to consider. About a year
ago I would have voted for Obama. I have changed my mind three times since than.
I watch all the news channels, jumping from one to another. I must say this
drives my husband crazy. But, I feel if you view MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News, you
might get some middle ground to work with. About six months ago, I started
thinking 'where did the money come from for Obama'. I have four
daughters who went to College, and we were middle class, and money was tight.
We (including my girls) worked hard and there were lots of student loans.

I started looking into Obama's life.

Around 1979 Obama started college at Occidental in California. He is very open
about his two years at Occidental, he tried all kinds of drugs and was wasting
his time but, even though he had a brilliant mind, did not apply himself to his
studies. 'Barry' (that was the name he u sed all his life) during this
time had two roommates, Muhammad Hasan Chandoo and Wahid Hamid, both from
Pakistan. During the summer of 1981, after his second year in college, he made
a 'round the world' trip. Stopping to see his mother in Indonesia, next
Hyderabad in India, three weeks in Karachi, Pakistan where he stayed with his
roommate's family, then off to Africa to visit his father's family. My
question - Where did he get the money for this trip? Nether I, nor any one of
my children would have had money for a trip like this when they where in
college. When he came back he started school at Columbia University in New
York. It is at this time he wants everyone to call him Barack - not Barry. Do
you know what the tuition is at Columbia? It's not cheap to say the least!
Where did he get money for tuition? Student Loans? Maybe. After Columbia, he
went to Chicago to work as a Community Organizer for $12,000 a year. Why
Chicago? Why not New York? He was already living in New York.

By 'chance' he met Antoin 'Tony' Rezko, born in Aleppo Syria,
and a real estate developer in Chicago. Rezko has been convicted of fraud and
bribery this year. Rezko, was named 'Entrepreneur of the Decade' by the
Arab-American Business and Professional Association'. About two years
later, Obama ente red Harvard Law School. Do you have any idea what tuition is
for Harvard Law School? Where did he get the money for Law School? More
student loans? After Law school, he went back to Chicago. Rezko offered him a
job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill
& Galland. Guess what? They represented 'Rezar' which is
Rezko's firm. Rezko was one of Obama's first major financial
contributors when he ran for office in Chicago. In 2003, Rezko threw an early
fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was
instrumental in providing Obama with 'seed money' for his U.S. Senate
race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for
$1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL those Student Loans - Where
did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko's wife, Rita,
purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that
Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks
before Obama's new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times
with Rezko.

Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele
Obama's boss. She is now Obama's chief advisor and he does not make any
major decisions without t alking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for
this? Shiraz, Iran! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?

On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley, advisor to Obama, was
'sacked' after the press found out he was having regular contacts with
'Hamas', which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran. This past
week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that
during Obama's visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the< br> war until after he is elected, and he will 'Take care of things'.

Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan?
They are in charge of all those 'small' Internet campaign contributions
for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this
country? Or could it be from the Middle East?

And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a
verbal slip that was made on 'This Week' with George Stephanapoulos.
Obama on talking about his religion said, 'My Muslim faith'. When
questioned, 'he made a mistake'. Some mistake!

All of the above information I got on line. If you would like to check it -
Wikipedia, encyclopedia, Barack Obama; Tony Rezko; Valerie Jarrett: Daily Times

School supplies for freshman year?

Hi I'm Bec

I'm taking English, Algebra, Life Science, PE, Fine Arts, and Creative Writing. What supplies do you think I should get?

Answer
okay - so congrats on your first year in high school!
i am going to be a sophomore, and the reason they don't give you a supply list in high school is because they figure that you pretty much know what to buy after 8 years of the same things. except in high school, you will not need nearly as much supplies as you did when you were in elementary and middle/junior high school. i just did all my shopping a couple days ago, and this is what i have been using for the past couple years

-good (laminated folders) that will last you most of the year. or you can get binders instead, but i personally think that carrying around a bunch of binders is a royal pain in the butt, so i suggest folders, they work just as well- buy one for each class you will need one for - math, science, social studies, english, and any other classes that you would need a folder for, like a foreign language or something. make sure to color code - (science:green, social studies:red, math:blue, english:yellow)

-70 sheet college ruled wire notebooks - also, one for each class that you would need a notebook for. and do the same with these as you would do with the folders - color code them just as you did with the folders, for instance, science would have a green folder and a green notebook, and social studies would have a red folder and a red notebook. i use two notebooks for my math class, one for notes, and one for the assignments.

-book covers - most teachers require book covers for their text books so they don't get damaged. buy a book cover for each class you would use a book for - at my school we have math, science, english, foreign language, and social studies text books. i just get the plain colored book covers to match the colors of the notebooks and folders for each class. so you could do that, or you could get book covers with designs on them if you wanted - i think the plain colors are easier to keep track of which book is for which class, but that is totally up to you.

-pencils - mechanical pencils. i don't like normal wooden pencils, i think they are a pain to keep sharpening and stuff - so i just get the cheap plastic mechanical pencils (either .5 or .7 sized) and some extra lead and they work great! i love them!

-pens - some english teachers require the use of pens, mainly for in-class essays, so get some in blue, and get some in black, and maybe some fun colors to use whenever, like purple or green or something. i like the "BIC brand round stic grip pens" they seem to work great!

-loose leaf paper - college ruled loose leaf, and put some in each of your folders.

-extras - a fine point sharpie, and a sharpie pen(ultra fine tipped). also a couple highlighters in your choice of color. invest in some index cards for studying - i use them ALL the time.

buy a pencil case, not a big bulky one, just a small one to keep extra pencils, pens, highlighters, and sharpies in

i was in geometry last year - i already said something about using two notebooks, but i would also buy some graph paper to put in your folder, or just buy another notebook that has graph paper in it. also, you will be needing a nice graphing calculator for your next years of math if the school doesn't provide them for you - most schools want you to have the TI 84 edition - i have the TI 84 silver plus edition. you can do so much with them. haha for geometry or algebra you should be able to get by with just a scientific calculator just fine. i don't know if your school provides math supplies for you (rulers, protractors, or calculators, etc..) but mine does so i don't have to get any of that stuff except a calculator.

make sure to get a backpack! or maybe a tote-bag if you would prefer that. backpacks are very handy haha

do you use agenda planners at your school? we do at ours, it is required that we bring them everywhere because we write our homework in them, and all of our hall passes are in them. so what i do is keep a pencil and a pen with me and i clip them in the spiral thing that holds everything together, that way i wont lose them. but if you really wanted you could carry your whole pencil case with you to your classes.

i hope this helps! sorry for such a long answer!

How can students being aloud to carry school bags around school help them stay more organized?

mellyk96

I have an essay due about why we should get the school rules changed about school bags and i came up with that reasong but i need examples to help support it.

Answer
If they 'allow' this it will:

1: Save time - as students will not be constantly going to get books from a locker.

2: It will allow students to organise their bags in the morning so that all that they need is in the bag.

3: They can leave some items in their locker and carry some so their bags are not too heavy.

4: If children are taught how to carry bags/backpacks correctly on their backs then certain problems will be alleviated.

How to carry your bag correctly:
Dr. Skaggs suggests the following to alleviate back pain caused by carrying too heavy a load in a backpack:

* ALWAYS USE BOTH SHOULDER STRAPS: "It's important for children to use both shoulder straps instead of simply slinging the backpack over one shoulder," Dr. Skaggs says. "Using one strap can cause children to walk improperly and places all the load on one shoulder."

* PACK CORRECTLY: Dr. Skaggs recommends that heavier books and items be packed closest to the back so that the center of gravity is near the center of the pelvis. Secondly, he reminds children to not pack so that there are sharp comers. "A load on the shoulders will naturally cause you to lean forward," he said. "That's why it's important to distribute the weight evenly."

* SELECT THE BACKPACK THAT'S RIGHT FOR YOU: "The standard two-strap backpack is good for light loads. For heavier loads, a backpack with a hip belt takes the load off of the shoulders and distributes it to the pelvis and hips," Dr. Skaggs said. Dr. Skaggs also recommends selecting a backpack that has a well padded area that touches the back and shoulders so sharp corners will not cause discomfort by sticking into the back.
