No school today, bracing for a big snow storm?

Q. So I was thinking, why not let the kids build a giant pillow/blanket fort? Who wants to guess how much laundry I'll be doomed with after? :)

What kinds of indoor activities do your kids like to do during bad weather?

Answer
LOL! School cancelled before it snows?

I live in Canada, we go outside unless it's below -15 (celsius).

BUt when it rains, some things my girls like are:
-dress-up clothes
-bean bag toss
-the pop-up tent and tunnels
-ball tent
-picnic in the living room

They are 19 months and 3.

What do I need to know for High School?

eehganyc

I'm going into grade 9 in Canada. It's not a very cliquey and people really care about marks and stuff like that. I don't know what it's going to be like though. What to I bring for lunch? Can I bring my lunch in one of those Byo lunch bags or is that weird? Do I bring my gym clothes in a gym bag on the first day or in my backpack. I want to decorate my locker with the little mirrors and stuff from staples but is that lame? If you have any other tips please help! I am so nervous and I don't know what to do.

Answer
High school basically is a bigger building and tons more kids in the school.
You can bring any food that you want to eat for lunch, as long as you're willing to eat it cold by the time lunch comes. I mean, I live in the US, but I bring my lunch bag to school everyday. It's normal, and if it's your preference to bring your own lunch, then that's ok. Most people in my school usually get their lunch from the cafeteria, but that costs way too much money.
As for your gym clothes, I would say to keep them in your backpack and put them in your locker afterwards.
What's wrong with decorating your locker? People still do that in high school!

Japanese High School Bags?

cherie

Does anyone know where I can find those book bags used by Japanese high-school girls? Here is a picture of what I mean:

http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/9942/sb3mg8.jpg

They're quite elusive; and, even if they're available on eBay, they are extremely pricey. Does anyone know an online shop directly located in Hong Kong, Japan or Korea that offers these items at a reasonable price and can ship them internationally? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer
Yahoo! Japan has high school bags and accepts orders from other countries. Yahoo! Japan is written in Japanese, of course, and you need to create Yahoo! Japan ID first. If you don't read Japanese, you need to find a reliable person who understands Japanese and is willing to help you. You have to give her/him your personal information to order the bags, so be careful whom you ask!

why should i edit? its a pretty simple question, just give me links for bags!

Answer
Bentley's school day bags: http://www.onlinebags.com/en/Products/Daypacks-23.aspx

Wet Seal for $10 tote bag to carry your stuff to classes: http://www.wetseal.com/catalog/category.jsp?categoryId=178

Yeah, get a smaller bag to take with you to classes, it's much easier that way, especially with the people that knock your stuff down in the halls, like a tote bag!

Packing school lunch?

haleyandka

I pack my kids lunch for school but always seem to be putting the same foods in the bag every week. Anyone have any ideas.

Answer
You should pack them a healthy lunch with protein that is low in calories & fat.

So if you pack them a peanut butter sandwich use no more than 2 tablespoons because of the high fat content! And don't worry, 2 tablespoons is very filling! You could also use sugar-free jam to sweeten it up!

You could pack them a chicken breast or turkey sandwich as well, with fat-free mayo or mustard.

(Any sandwich you make them should be made with whole wheat bread!)

Also, pack them carrots, celery, or cucumbers with fat-free ranch dressing to dip them in OR send along an apple or banana. You could also make small baggies of pretzels (low-sodium, of course!) or baked chips.

Vegetarian school lunches?

qtpie1023

At my school, we have no lunch system. I can either buy food out of the vending machine or brown bag, but all they offer that's vegetarian is microwaveable cheese pizza. We have microwaves available, so what are some options, either hot or cold, for lunch?

Answer
I fix a vegetarian lunch for my daughter in highschool every day. It's easy. Here's a website to give you some ideas
http://kids-vegetarian-food.suite101.com/article.cfm/vegetarian_brown_bag_lunches

Think whole grain breads with various cheese, or cheese or bean spreads. You can also add dried tomatoes to cream cheese etc. Baggies of nuts, olives, sliced peppers, cucumbers & other veggies.

Pasta with additions which can be eaten either as a pasta salad or heated.

Hummus,. bean, or other dips which you can make yourself to go with pita chips or swedish crackers

Soups

Baked potato (previously baked and split) with cheese etc to put on it.

containers of yogurt, piece of fruit, granola bar

Fruit, cheese, bread & butter

Pcs'ing to Hawaii with kids & newborn and Need help!?

SESw4

My husband has just gotten orders (as many people are getting right now) and we are moving to Hawaii. This will be our farthest PCS so far. We have 3 kids aged 9,8,and 3 and when we finally fly, we will also have an 8wk old baby too. I haven't flown in years, since about 2000, and never flown with kids. While Im not worried about our older ones, Im very concerned about flying with the newborn. We are out of Ft. Campbell KY so it will be a very long flight with a few layovers. Can someone tell me how to best prepare for this? I know there are many new guidelines when flying and such so I want to make sure I do everything right. Am I allowed to have baby bottles with water in them to make for easier mixing? Can I bring a playpen/bassinet combo (its in its own fold and store bag) as a checked bag under the plane? Am I allowed to bring the baby in a travel system stroller (carseat stroller combo)? What is the general wait time for housing to become available? We are on the list for a 4br. Wanted a 5br but we were told it would take much longer for that to become available so we went with a 4br instead. How are the schools there? Are they advanced, comparable, or behind to the main states?

Im sorry if this is a lot. I know literally nobody that has gone there with little ones. Only came home with new ones. ;) lol Im such a planner and want to make sure Im organized are ready for any scenario. Thanks in advance!!
Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately we dont have any specific details as far as airlines goes. Since we are military, we will have them pay for the tickets and everything rather than us pay and wait to get reimbursed. We dont get a say in where we can stop and room for the night or things like that. If we were making our own arrangements, we would be able to but since we aren't its not up to us. I tried looking at some of the airlines the Army uses, ie Delta, but saw no specific details as far as carry on liquids or amounts or anything. Since we are on a waitlist for on post housing, I was trying to establish some sort of general time frame so I know how much to pack clothes wise for my kids.

Sorry for any confusion, I should have clarified a bit better. I do appreciate your feedback though! Thanks!! :)

Answer
Hey, welcome to Hawaii, ok? You know, you gonna be fine, you gonna love it here Hawaii, sound like you come to Oahu, and that very good place to live, here some help for you, maybe set you mind at ease, ok? You gonna love beach, ocean and layback style of Hawaii, yeah?
Fly with kids: No problem, little one gonna be ok, just plan ahead for formula, TSA gonna let you bring some powder formula, and airline furnish you with bottle water for baby, and they heat it too, if you want, ok, so no problem there. Cannot depend that TSA will let you bring more than 4 ounces of liquid, but, each kid can bring up to 4 ounces too, ok? So divide up you formula, put in kid backpack, and that help out, ok? Also, bring some snacks for kids, cause airline food stinky, yeah? Here what I suggest, you gonna be come in warm weather, sound like, so dress alla kid light, with carry on jacket/hoodie cause sometime get cold on airplane, and back pack or roll around carry on for each kid as carry on, with snack, some game for each kid, and for 3 year old, coloring book, if they like that sort thing, something new kid not have before, ok? Now you got 9 and 8 year old, make them responsible for 3 year old, they do good job, cause they troopers, yeah? Make sure you check in luggage, but also in backpack they have change of undies, and maybe one change cloths, also, you carry all meds you need for all kids in you purse, ok? Put you own needed stuff in 8 and 9 year old back pack, cause they carry you stuff too, make it easier for you, yeah? Make sure 8 and 9 year old have all info they need to help you, they gonna be great help, ok? Now, you gonna need diapers, and wipes for baby, that ok, alla airline gonna have backup wipes, just make sure you have plenty wipes, ok? If you got game boy, or ipod or whateva for older kids to do while waiting, and try best you can to make just few layover, cause time weigh heavy on kids, yeah? Remember 4 ounces or less, put everything in clear baggie, and not too many thing in baggie, so lotta baggies, cause TSA like to see stuff in bags, yeah? And leave alla sharp object in check in bags, ok? Good idea to have drill, and dry run, hey you inna military, you know bout that, yeah?
Carseat stroller, no problem you just check it at door of plane when you get on, just make sure you have all stuff that you carry in stroller separate in bag or back pack, cause airline frown on lotta junk in stroller they check, ok? Anything like playpen in own bag can be checked long as it don't exceed weight, but in coach you gotta pay for extra bags, ok? Now, you gonna need help when you go to airport, so get someone to take you and help you with check in bags, get boarding passes ahead of time online, then check bags at curbside, that way you can go direct to security, yeah?
Try to arrange flite so that few deplane as possible, here just a suggest, fly outa Nashville, Tenn, take Southwest, non stop to Las Vegas, you can arrive Vegas at bout 4:30, before you leave tell airline you gonna need skycap to take you, kids, and luggage to Hawaiian at Terminal 2, They have non-stop at 6:15, to Honolulu, you arrive by 9:30 local time, now kids probly sleep most of way from Vegas, maybe you too, but you make it with minimum of down time, also, traveler aid VERY big in Vegas, specially for mom and kids of service personnel, in case you have trouble, Skycap take you and alla kid and luggage so no problem with that cause SWA not too swift at transfer of luggage, ok?, Hawaiian very kind to kids, and include pretty good(hey I say good not great, ok) meal at no extra cost, ok? Also have great service mans discount, too, yeah? Now you can do same thing on otha airline thru San Francisco, LA, or Seattle, but this I know work, cause did it myself, but that up to you, ok?
Schools, well you know we hear all kinda thing bout school here, but you know that most important part of kid education what happen at home, and you sound like kinda mommy that make sure kid get good stuff for education, ok? Hawaii spend a lotta money on school system, but you know all state rite now kinda have budget problems, so same hea Hawaii, but some great schools and great school teacher here too, so you be suprised, kids gonna do fine, ok?
Base housing, well I hear all kinda story bout that, but here the thing, you gonna get good house cause alla base housing I see here pretty nice, and you should have something within 1 month, in meantime, you can get nice place to stay off base, live out of suitcase, etc, you done before, cause you Army Wife, yeah? Hey, pretty soon, alla kid be talk just like me, YEAH? I just kid, I just old fat guy who too lazy to do anything otha than rite like I talk, ok? You gonna need famous kapaakid fried rice recipe, keep eye on YA, I give it again, you gonna love, ok?
Go army, and Peace and aloha to you from Hawaii!
Ok, I just read you update, you need to talk to you CTO/TMZ-c if u make it or them.

Answer
My kids always had Jansport backpacks - they are a bit more expensive, but last longer. You can buy them at most stores that carry backpacks, or google their website.

As for locker accessories, stores like Bed Bath and Beyond, and Target and Walmart all have them. Again search their websites.

How to convince my dad to get me a new backpack for school???!?

GuitarGirl

I've had my Jansport backpack for two years. Yesterday when I was unzipping it, the zipper got stuck on the fabric flap. I tried to pull it off but it just made it worse. I used lip balm, pencil lead (its supposed to create a lubricant on the metal), and tweezers but it didn't loosen it. I pulled on it so much it seperated from one of the sides of the zipper strip and is still stuck on the fabric side. So, now I can't zip up my bag all the way its really annoying! (And the only way to fix it is to cut a hole in my backpack.) Anyways my question is, how can I convince my dad to get me a new backpack? He likes to save his money. Where can I get Jansport backpacks for a cheap price (not the mall)? What other backpacks can you recommend?
No rude comments will be accepted! Thanks <3

Answer
Zipper diseases are covered under the Jansport Warranty. See: http://www.jansport.com/js_faq.php?type=warranty#107

LLBean and LandsEnd have similar guarantees, and they all make good packs.

Need middle school tips, badly?

Butterfly

Please email me whatever answers you come up with at tweet069101@hotmail.com . I deleted any personal info already liek my first and last name so no one can figure out my identity, the reason I am using that email is because its my main email.

Hey people, its your girl butterfly. I need tips! I am going into 6th (A.K.A middle school) and I need tips. I am gonna be new along with my 8 BFF's and I need tips. Well I wanna choose two elective classes two rate in order from 1-4 and here are my choices:
Art, Chorous, Life management, Exploring technolagy. I am good with computers and drawing. I sing good but dont wanna be in chorus. I wanna choose two electives because I am not good with reading notes and playing them (Band). So anyways, I dont wanna get bad grades and I dont wanna forget all the stuff I need to know. Here are my main questions:

How do I remember my locker combo? How do I decorate my locker in 5 minutes?

How do I keep from getting lost? What if they dont have maps?

How do I keep up with where to go and how to get there? (over 73 different classes and special classes).

What if I have to change in front of a bunch of girls since we have to take gym.

How do I contact my bff's? What if we want to eat lunch together?

Our school colors are tacky! What do I do? I dont look good in orange! (Black, white, orange)

What if teachers are like witches? (Basicly describing my 3rd grade teacher, an old lady with a mean voice).

How do I get enough sleep with such a buisy schedule? (My day is basicly getting up at 4:30 a.m, get dressed, my mom does my hair, btw I am black so thats why. Next I grab all my stuff and get in the car, vroom, errrrrrrhhhhhhh, we're at my dad's house, bam I close the car door and make my way into his living room, its 5:14, he wakes up in 6 minutes, I try to catch some Z's and then, beep beep beep, his alarm clock goes off, oh no I gotta brush my teeth and use the bathroom get on my shoes and grab my bag! We head for my grandmas, my parents have day jobs, we hurry there and she opens the door. I go back to sleep and then eat. Oh crap, my breath smells like do do now. I dont know what to do. Then I get to school. 6 hours and 30 mintues of boring EOG crap. Yawn, I end up falling asleep. "Sit up!" the teacher says but I cant seem to stay awake. Then ding ding ding the bell rings and everyone rushes out of the school. I get picked up by my grandma or grandaddy and we go to the house. Oh no, I have an annoying 7 year old cousin who wont shut up and leave me alone. He doesnt ever stop singing or making noises which is why I couldnt finish my homework yestarday, he kept following me and making stupid noises trying to unlock whatever door of the room I was in. Ding dong ding dong ding ding ding dong, my dads here, yay! Two hours later, my mom gets here, I get on the computer and thats it, then I go to bed at 9:30). I'm buisy dont ya think? Its horrible!

What do I do? Little black kids think I am ugly and might try to kill me! What do I do to stay safe? They can easily bring granades, in fourth grade this 12 year old retard decided he was gonna bring a bb gun, he was supposed to be suspended for the rest of the year, only 10 days! Mother freaking butt holes should have suspended him for longer, he could have killed someone. To believe hes gonna go to my schoo next year.

I have way too many books and way too much homework! How do I narrrow it down?

I cant see the baurd, what am I supposed to do? If I ask someone what it says the teacher might think I am cheating. I don't wear glasses because they dont anything, the glasses I have on my side table just make the words or whatever less fuzzy (no not fuzzy fision, just makes it clearer). I want a certain type of glasses like these:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/tatyveli/1682138701/

I really dont wanna ask my dad for glasses. So please try to answer edleast say 4 of my questions.

Basicly the middle school is less than 5 minutes away from my current school, you can just walk there.

Also this is a girls only question but what do I do if my period starts and theres no tisue in the stall and I have no one in the bathroom to ask for help? I dont want to walk around wet knowing the it might bleed through.

Answer
1. Lots of middle schools give you a homework planner. Write your locker combo in one of the reference pages.

2. Decorate: Metal lockers: use magnets to attach a strip of cool-patterned fabric to the back of your locker or inside of door. Plastic lockers: use poster putty (sold at drugstores in paper aisle).

3. If you're lost, ask around. Don't say you're in the youngest grade, just say you're new. Better to duck into a classroom and ask a teacher.

4. You'll eventually learn to memorize your schedule and once you start remembering where you're going, it won't take so long to get there.

5. Changing in front of peers ain't that bad. Just do it. If you're shy, use a bathroom stall or behind an open locker door. When you get to know your P.E. classmates, it's really no big deal anymore.

6. Text them. Email them. IM them. But not when you might get in trouble. Don't test your teachers within the first two weeks, since they may remember you as the girl always on the phone/computer and will be more likely to take them away from you.

7. Your school colors rock. Play up the black and white since you don't like orange with a black headband or black clips and b/w bracelets and beads :P

8. If the teachers are bad, remember other people have to put up with them too. If you're singled out by the teacher and end up being the student he/she picks on, tell your parents and counselor.

9. High school schedules are often worse than middle school. If you want, catch some ZzZz's during the later part of lunch and set a phone alarm before class starts.

10. BB guns won't kill people. Honestly. My brother has one and it hurts, but there are much worse things. If you're worried, take martial arts over the weekends or something - I suggest Tae Kwon Do. Still, don't sweat it much; it's not too likely super disasters will happen.

11. Homework: take good notes, use composition books instead of folder paper in binders (if possible), don't take textbooks home unless you need them for that night, study your NOTES, not your BOOKS, and get a sturdy backpack. Get into the habit of using your locker.

12. Ask for glasses anyway. If you really can't see anything, you'd be hurting your education by not being able to learn to your best ability. If you want a certain style of glasses, just ask! The place selling them may have discounts and sales :)

13. The period thing is a nightmare, but I suggest keeping a small makeup purse with two to three pads/tampons in your locker. If there's no tissue in your stall, just walk out, grab some paper towels from by the sink or tissues from the next stall, and use those until you can get some real pads. <-- Hope that never happens to you.

Good luck in middle school & congratulations on finishing elementary!
MOST IMPORTANT: Have fun, chill out, and go with it :)

Which book bag is better for a 14 year old freshman in high school? (Links included)?

Q. 1. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/62777?feat=2-SR0.
The color is called Pink Spinning Wheels. It is the 2nd to last colored square.
This is my first choice because I love the color pink but I feel it might be too little girlish. Like a 7 year old would use it.

2.http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/62852?feat=2-SR0&productId=1060789&attrValue_0=Carnation
The color is called Carnation. It is the second colored square. This is my second choice because I love the color and it seems suitable for my age. I also like how roomy it is and I have no complaints about it.

3. http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/64781?feat=2-SR0&productId=1102223&attrValue_0=Hibiscus
The color is called Hibiscus. It is the third colored square. This is my third choice because I like it but I don't like how much black is in it. But I also like how big it is and I feel I might need this roomy bag for high school. It seems alittle boyish.

So which one is your favorite? Which one would you preffer for a 14 year old freshman in high school?

Answer
I'm going into high school, too,so I would pick the first one

I always have had a problem with School-work? [READ DETAIL]?

Vladimir

Alright, I'm just seeking a little help-chat from someone.
I just need to get this out of myself and ask the world what should/can/may do!
Ok, I'm an 8th grader, I have ADD, and I'm mostly a B or sometimes C student (83%'s & 75%'s).
I can do really well on tests if I study hard and have interest in the subject, sadly I don't.
My problem, even the teachers confronted to my parents, is that I NEVER DO MY HOMEWORK.
I'm doing O.K. on tests, average, just a bit more studying should make them better, but I RARELY GIVE MY HOMEWORK IN TIME.
Listen, I just don't know!
I always get distracted!
I always forget!
I just get carried away with relaxing, going outside and playing some soccer, or even just staying inside all day and being on the internet!
Right now, I have history homework and science homework that's due tommorow.
I'm not going to complain or whine how I can get motivation, I just need some tips or someone to criticize me or tell me what's wrong with me! I just can never keep track of time of me doing my homework! Even today 1/3/2011 @ 10:25PM I just discovered tommorow I have school!
I never have interest in history or science or math or anything else, my only true passion is of being a Lawyer. I always win arguements. I always find up some good-nice cute excuse to the teachers of letting me an extra day to complete my project or that my flash-drive with all my documents dropped out of my backpack in my carpool ride or whatever. I know, I need to have very good grades to pass the exams in highschool to get in a lawyer school, and of me just winning arguements and being a good liar is only a probability of 2% of being a lawyer (I can be specific, but I just want to get down to the point).
1) I always forget of completing assignments on time (I rarely do complete them on the assigned day).
2) I always get distracted by the internet, watching videos on youtube or going on failblog.org or whatever, I'm just...I don't know, I'm LAZY to get up, be a man and deal with my homework and complete them.
3) I just need some tips or adivce or even some criticizm of whats wrong with me or what I need to do!
4) I have a MAJOR, and when I say MAJOR, I seriously mean MAJOR habbit of completing homework at night (2:00AM-4:00AM), and I despite myself for doing this because I need minimum 6 hours a day to sleep or else I become tired and fall-asleep during classes.
5) What I would greatly appreciate, and I really will do as much possible as I can on answers.yahoo.com to reward or assist that person in my power that has been through the same phase that I am currently in and replies to me with feelings he/she at that time and how he/she overcame it.
I will at the end always do my homework at midnight, and I'm just tired of this habbit!
Please respond maturely.
Last check:
1) I have a habbit of completing homework at night (2:00AM-4:00AM) and I need advice or tips how to overcome it.
2) I always forget when assignments are due and I have a problem of keeping track in time.

Please notice: All that I am asking is advice or tips of how I can start being a normal kid, of how I can just get on with it and do my homework as soon as I get home from school!
I'm really just an average 13 year-old teenager, my only problem is keeping track of time, completing my assignments on time, and a habbit of completing my homework very late at night.
Please once again, mature responces only.
You will greatly help another neighbor in-need, and I hope that if your advice or tips do help me, that may God reward you someday (I'm sorry if you are an Atheist, I respect you all and I have no urge or need to change your belief. All of us have our own rights of choosing our own path.) Please if you are an Atheist and you are understanding or understood with what I am going through, please don't be offended. Please share your opinion and ignore my ''may God reward you someday'' part, I go to a Catholic private school, so I am who I am.
Alright, I'm so sorry, I got a bit over-carried XD
Anyways, please respond.
I will greatly appreciate it.
Thank you for your time of reading this message.

Answer
You are a normal kid. With diff rent needs. Here are a few tips. Get a small timer and time yourself. Set aside a set time to start and finish home work. Do you have a watch? This is a very help full tool as well. Keep your school work organized use folders. Keep your environment as organized as possible. Relaxing music is also very help full. If you have ADD by law you are not to be held to the same standards as the other students. Tell your parents to go to the school and have the modify your requirements on an IEP the Individualized Education Plan to enable you to have less home work. No child should be up struggling so late at night with home work.

What to do with an autistic girl?

Q. My mom works with an autistic girl after school for 3 hours. She is 12 or 13, I forget, but enjoys activities of a 4-6 year old...She loves watching Nick Jr. and cartoons like Strawberry Shortcake and My Little Pony. She also likes to bake little things like fudge and chocolate molds. She is allergic to Red 40 and cant have a lot of chocolate because it will make her C.R.A.Z.Y.
She has severe autism btw. What are some fun things we can do with her?

Answer
Uhm...
Play a board game!
Fingerpainting! (Or normal painting if you prefer.)
Make some puppets out of socks or paper bags or something.
Make some papercraft http://dltk-kids.com/
A scavenger hunt could be fun!
Play something like tag or hide and seek.
Read some books to her.
Dress up?

What to do over summer break?

Ana

I'm 14 years old, and live in Illinois. I can't go outside really because I live in an apartment, and the weather isn't nice enough to even go swimming in the pool the apartment provides for us. I'm a writer, but I don't want to sit at home and write the entire day. I love to read, but my mom works late so I can't go and get my library card. What can I do? I don't wanna sit in front of the t.v. or computer like many other kids do. I'm not active, so try not to suggest running or biking expeditions.
I just want to add, that I am not rich. We barely have enough money to do anything. Yes my mom gets child support and paychecks, but that goes to more important things.
Another thing I forgot to add, is that one week is going to be dedicated to Child Care meaning that I will be babysitting little kids too young to join Vacation Bible School. I got my two aunts (who are my age) to help. I already have some other language, and I canât start a business because the place I live is dead. Nothing happens and no one likes to buy from kids businesses.

Answer
That is a really good question! I understand how frustrating this can be, as I used to live in an apartment too. As you said you love to read and write, you can always do this for PART of the day. That will help some of the time go by.

Also, you can try some crafts. I love Bandanna Purses. You can buy bandannas at almost any dollar store or department store. Purchase two of them. Lay the bandannas out, wrong sides together, lining up edges as best as possible. Using fabric shears, cut 1" around entire bandanna "sandwich" in one piece and set it aside to use as the handle. Then cut a slit every 3/4" cutting up to the most inner printed square on the bandanna on 3 sides of the bandanna. You will be cutting out the corners and discarding these small squares of fabric. Beginning at one of the corners, take one of the fringes from the top and one from the bottom and tie them together in a double knot. Tie one on each corner. Continue tying all around except for the top. This will be left open. To make the handle, cut each long scrap into two equal pieces. Discard one piece and braid the other three together knotting at each end. Knot an end to each side of the bag. Iron the top fringes down on each side.

You can also learn something. Go online and print out an article about juggling, or sign language. This is a great way to occupy your time, and it's something fun to show your friends when you get back to school. Really work hard at it until you perfect it!

Start a Business (With approval from your mom!). Maybe you love kids, so you can spend some time baby siting. Or maybe you love dogs, you could start a Dog Walking Business. Or sell some of your crafts that you make, and offer your talents you learned above. There are thousands of possibilities. Mow lawns, paint birdhouses, read to kids.... Do something that you enjoy. Not only will you be having fun, you will be making money!

You can also cook or bake if it's okay with your mom. There are lots of recipes you can find online, and maybe your mom would let you walk down to the grocery store to buy ingredients. MY favorite thing to do is to make cupcakes. Vanilla, chocolate, carmel, you choose! A simple vanilla is always a good starter, and you can add flavors to it. For example, I made a vanilla cupcake, and added carmel syrup to it. Or you can add fresh strawberries, or blueberries. When you are done, you can decorate them! These creations always are fun, and you can even sell them.

If you are really bored, try some of these sites. You can also go to some of the craft and baking sites if you choose to do something else. Have a great summer!

Q. I got a note from school that said-

Students that are in grades 6-12 that don't live more that two miles away or children that live across HW 77 or 696 must walk home instead of riding the bus.

Well, does this make sense to you. Oh, yeah, not to mention the scool I attend does NOT provide lockers. So I will have to carry all of my belongings to and from school. AND the kids that are in band have to carry saxs, tubas, and trumpets home. Does that seem fair???

Answer
Nope, it doesn't...what kind of taxes do your parents pay for this? If it's anything like the ones I have to pay (for a school that my son will never even attend)...I'd be asking for an accounting of how money is being spent there. Pronto.

Of course, if money is actually lacking, then the community may need to get together to see what needs to be done. You may want to have your parents check to see if there was recently a referendum that failed, or if your school has lost funding for some reason? (If it's lost government funding, you may want to look twice at being there in the first place...)

But if not, if the school has the funding it needs and is misappropriating it, then something needs to be done to supply the students with at least bussing and lockers. It's not like you're asking for an Olympic-sized pool or anything, but that's kind of ridiculous.

What do you do with your books at school - do they make you carry all of them around with you? Because honestly, that could even present medical risks - your bones and muscles are still forming, and having to carry a large amount of books and such on a regular basis could actually hinder that. (That's why backpacks come with ergonomic straps and such, because more and more kids are ending up with things like rheumatoid arthritis and scoliosis.)

I'd get your parents checking on that, both for your well-being and for the accountability for their tax dollars.

Any Unique School Shoulder Bags And Under £30?

Abbi

Well... Everyone at my school is into the "fashion" of wearing handbags. Its bizarre! I hate it! They are all too small to fit your P.E kit in and are really quite expensive! I want a bag that is unique! Nothing off Cafe Press Or Truffle Shuffle As They Are Expensive. Im In Year 8.
I Like All Bright Colours And Not Too Girly xx

Answer
What about those cute large canvas (or sometimes that plastic-ee kind of material) tote bags that they have like at book stores or for your shopping? You can fit hella crap in those things! And they have so many cute designs and stuff. Then you can have a cute little zippered purse thing to put inside that bag for all your little things like lip gloss, pens, hair ties, school ID and all that kind of stuff.
You will be able to find something cool, I'm sure - even though they have lots of cute bags on Truffle Shuffle - but my Lord - you don't have to be "that trendy" barf!
I think this is a good idea and this bag won't cost nearly be as much as those other dumb trendy bags.
Have fun looking for something that will fit your PE kit. How cute!

can a 12 year old wear make up?

Gabrielle

well next year im turning 12...im going to be in 7th grade next year and i want to know what kind of make up i can wear to school.please help!!
thanks for answering...you all helped me!!thanx

Answer
not too much mascara, just a light layer, invest in an eye lash curler. i am a year 8 this year. i wear some concealer, a bit of foundation. not eye shadow, at school it is too much. if you don't have layered hair, i got mine layered 15 days ago and already i have risen in the "pecking order" also invest in wax strips and a good nail polish, also a good manicure set. and a pair of girls skate shoes maybe nike or something, go to a surf shop. also hair accessories, not giant flowers just nice little things. grooming is extremely important. deodorant 2 times every day and shower in the morning, and at every lunch time brush your hair in a cubicle. if you have any spots also get make up remover wipes and take your make up off at school and re-apply. remember personality is a BIG part of you rep, so make sure you are humble and happy. don't snap or yell or get in argument, just ignore rude remarks from other students, the older years will give you a bit of c**p for maybe a few terms, but what did you expect. little nick knacks like stationary from squiggle is cute. get an element school bag or a billabong, or a roxy. it is best to get one that goes over your shoulder. but always remember to be your self and concentrate on your school life, be polite to teachers and always finish your work on time. write all your homework in your school diary and check it every night. nobody really likes a person who is seeking attention. and most of all don't get in with the "tippys" @ my school they are on the oval at lunch time, they come into every class stinking like cigarette smoke, that would be a really really bad move, that is the most important thing you can do, never get in that group.

My son is 12 Years old and Purchased a Pocket knife in school can he get Expelled?

Manny

My son is 12 Years old and Bought a Pocket knife in school and He showed it to his friend on the bus and put it back in his book bag and he didnt threaten nobody with it and someone saw it and told on him and now he hes suspended for 2 weeks and is scared they can Expell him This is the first time he ever got suspended and he has good grades and is a very good kid in school can they expell him because he didnt threaten anyone and i know he was wrong buying it. The kid who sold it to him was playing with it in school and threatening ppl and he only got suspended for 5 days and now hes back in school but my son is not which i think is unfair What can i do?

Answer
I assume your child was caught with the knife on school property?
You think it is unfair that your child was suspended for two weeks? I want to know why he wasn't charged with a felony (it is a FELONY in most states) and sent to a youth detention center for 6 months or a year. But you just keep complaining how unfair it is. Apparently your son has picked up on your arrogant self-centered attitude.
And you are worried about the other child's punishment? Not whether he is a threat to the kids, but his punishment? Wow. You need to report the threatening behaviour.
You need to take responsibility for your family, and have your child take responsibility for his actions.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. It is "anybody" not "nobody". It is 'reported him' not 'told on him'. Neither pocket nor he is capitalized. Do you know what punctuation is? You obviously don't know what a run-on sentence is, although you should, you write enough of them. "Expell" ??
Finally, in case your civics is a poor as your English, these crimes are handled under state law (possibly local laws, also). It is possible that they have the right to expel him. So, just keep complaining about how unfair they are. BTW, congratulations! Your son now has a record that he has brought a weapon to school! Nice.

I know that you don't need the brand names to play good golf but my dad works at a golf shop and i get clubs for extremely cheap. I will consider any ideas or changes.

Thanks

Answer
WIth the extra detail, I will suggest you get a little more loft for the driver. Your driver distance tells me a few things:

1. your swing speed isn't much over 100mph
2. you aren't making solid, centered contact

One way or the other, get the driver fitted. If you need more loft, you may need to get a new driver. If it just needs to be shortened (a common problem), That can be easily done. That's the problem with today's drivers... they're too d@mn long! Bubba Watson and Tiger Woods use 44.5" drivers; Dustin Johnson and JB Holmes use 45" drivers (the "off the shelf" average is 46"!). They're all big hitters, but they know a shorter driver is more controllable. They already have the swing speed to get the distance; they just want a little extra help with the accuracy. And if THEY know a 46" driver won't help their game, why are we conditioned to believe they'll help US?

I'll reiterate the other "issue" (if you can call it that) I have with your bag: the LW. You have even 5* gaps between the PW and GW, but an 8* gap between the GW and LW. While that isn't "ideal", if it works for you, then I'm good with it. I just want to know which one is your sand club. It doesn't matter if it's the 50* or 58*, it just has to have enough bounce (sole angle) to handle the type of bunkers you'll face. Fluffy sand = high bounce, firm sand = low bounce; if you're unsure, stick to the median (~12*).

Actually, I'm not overly concerned that the 3w and hybrid have a different shaft flex. There's no industry standard for that; companies are free to label whatever they want an "S", "R", or whatever. They don't even have standards within the same brand! That means, a company like Aldila is free to label the NV VooDoo and Habanero both "S" flex, even though they both register different numbers on a frequency machine! It's crazy, but it's true (I'm not picking on Aldila, though... all of the shaft companies do this. They were the first that sprang to mind). That's why I'm not concerned with that- even though they're different from the rest of the set, if they're working for you, you don't fix what isn't broke. If it isn't working, though, you may want to see a clubfitter about turning that around.

That's about it. It doesn't matter if you have a mixed bag, brand-wise... you play what YOU like to play, what YOU like to look at. It doesn't make you less of a "player" if you don't have a bag full of the same brand and a staff bag that matches. Play what makes YOU happy. Good luck this year!

Where can I buy awesome backpack I got one from hottopic but don't no when they r gonna get new ones?

Izaiah Har

Ya my sophomore in the beginning of the year I got a cool backpack and I want to get all my school supplies early for the school year 2012-2013 please tell me when they r getting new ones or anywhere else where they have really cool backpacks for TEENAGE BOYS thanks

Answer
Most kids/children purchase their backpacks at the mall (Tillys and Urban Outfitters are quite popular). I would also check Dick's Sporting Goods, Sports Authority, Kohls, JC Penny for more good brand named backpacks (i.e. Under Armour, The North Face, Columbia). Also, LL Bean and if your parents are in the US Military, the US Navy Exchange.

Is making a kid pee his pants during a 2 hour interrogation without a parent present bullying?

pdooma

'A kindergartner who brought a cowboy-style cap gun onto his Calvert County school bus was suspended for 10 days after showing a friend the orange-tipped toy, which he had tucked inside his backpack on his way to school, according to his family and a lawyer.

The child was questioned for more than two hours before his mother was called, she said, adding that he uncharacteristically wet his pants during the episode. The boy is 5 â âall bugs and frogs and cowboys,â his mother said."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/cowboy-style-cap-gun-gets-5-year-old-ousted-from-school-in-calvert-county/2013/05/30/a3a8a178-c93c-11e2-9245-773c0123c027_story.html

Is this liberals mean when they say they want gun control -- bullying and terrorizing kindergarteners?

This is the same state that suspended the kid with the gun shaped pop tart and the kids who made finger guns. Idiots.
It's Maryland. One instance, ok. Two? Coincidence. Three, a Pattern.

Answer
I read this earlier today.

This is yet *another* reason we home school. The idiocy of "zero tolerance" is taken dramatically overboard.

To answer your question: YES that is bullying. On the school's part. Pathetic of the the school. Wrong, and just pathetic.

I can understand the school perhaps calling the parents about the incident, but a 2 hour interrogation of a FIVE year old is utterly stupid. When the child wets their pants because of it? Enraging. The parents should have been notified at once, not hours later.

I do agree that it was wrong on the part of the boy to sneak the toy into school, and even the mother states that action needed to be taken, but THIS was not the action to be taken.

This, America, is what over protection to the extreme has done to our society. Liberal or not, this was plain idiocy.

Anyway my qustion is do you know even book bags that really large and can hold a lot of books and binders. This year I see myself having at least 3 books and 4 4 to 5 binders maybe even one extray book and brands or sites that can get me a large enough book bag would help me out a lot no rush though school doesn't start for another 18 days

Answer
If you're looking for something versatile, that comes in many styles, go with Jansport. You might also want to try a North Face bag, a Swiss Gear bag, or my personal favorite, the Embark backpacks at Target. These are geared towards younger kids, but OH MY GOD, they're so durable. All three brands could hold at least 5 textbooks, and don't have flimsy bottoms. I'd say browse the sites and choose your favorite.

I want to start a book club at my school how to begin?

crazy06<><

I love to read and i want to share my books with others how can i convince my teachers and principal that having a book club is a good idea and where could i order the books from and how could i get the money?
oh i want to do this at my middle scholl for seventh and eighth graders

Answer
Not sure where you go to school, but generally you don't need the school's permission to have a book club, unless you want to do it during the school day. You can register as a club (you generally do need a faculty advisor, try one of the English teachers) and then sign up to use a classroom after school (like all the other clubs/organizations do), or you can hold the book club at someone's house, after school or on a weekend.

What kind of books do you want to share with your friends?
I ask because there are all sorts of books online for free nowadays, as well as what your public and school libraries have. (Keep in mind that many libraries can do an interlibrary loan as well.) Readers can also share books, if someone is done with their copy before the group meets.

You don't necessarily need to provide the books for the group to read, as long as you can see that multiple copies of the book are available through those three sources.

You should sit down and think through some of the structure the book club will have - How often will you meet? Will you discuss a new book each time, or a set of chapters in a longer book? Will you structure it with some kind of questions to go in and start discussions over? (an English teacher can probably help you with some of these.) Who gets to pick the book? Are there rules around picking a book? Length, genre, how old it is and other details are easy enough to decide on. Leave your parameters wide and you'll get more participation.

You can also start out as a genre book club - you want to share your favorite books with others, right? It's reasonable to think that other kids want the same thing. So, your first meeting can be a genre like 'fantasy' and everyone can come and talk about their favorite books in that genre and share that with the group.

You can do a book/movie club where the group reads a book, then discusses it and watches the movie that was made from the book - watch the movie at a second meeting if you want to split the book discussion from the movie-watching. After the movie, the group can discuss the differences between the book and the movie and whether the changes were good/bad for the storyline or changed it to an entirely different plot entirely. (Jumper by Steven Gould and the movie of the same name is a great example for this.) There are plenty of books that have been made into movies to pick from. If you want to share the cost of the movie rental, ask each person to contribute $1, then rent the movie and spend the difference on popcorn for the movie.

Food and drink make meetings a bit more fun - you can run it 'potluck' and ask each person to bring something to share (a bottle of soda, a pkg of cookies, a bag of chips, bottled water, etc.), don't forget plates/napkins/cups too! Or you can just skip the food/drink entirely and expect people to bring their own. In terms of generating enthusiasm, though, I would suggest that at least your first meeting have some munchies & drinks.

I think your teachers and librarians will be more than happy to help you to come up with ideas of books, discussion questions, and even in helping you with ideas to structure the group, I'm sure that there are things I haven't even thought of. = )

The kicker will be getting kids to participate - be creative - ask your friends if they are interested - post some flyers around school - etc. You can use a site like Yahoo Groups or, even better, www.GoodReads.com to set up a discussion group online for your group. Then you can link to books and to a ton of other readers who are also bibliophiles and can answer any question you might have. (Keep in mind it is meant to be a site for grown-ups, so book reviews are not censored for children.)

I recently heard there that the classic graphic novel "Watchmen" is currently being made into a movie (think Cold War, nuclear threat and caped crusaders). That would make a cool read/watch event once it is out.

Anyways, good luck with it!

Below are some resources for free e-books:
Project Gutenberg www.gutenberg.org
Baen Free Library www.baen.com/library/defaultTitles.htm
ManyBooks.net http://manybooks.net/
Internet Archive www.archive.org
There are probably more out there...check out google. = )

Also, besides www.GoodReads.com another good site is www.Paperbackswap.com for discussions/questions and to pick up copies of paper books (for the cost of postage, and the willingness to trade some of your own books.)

What things make you think the most of the 80's?

Answer
Memories of when I was a little girl:

(I was born in 1973)

You had that Fisher Price Doctor 's Kit with a stethoscope that actually worked.

You owned a bicycle with a banana seat and a plastic basket with flowers on it.

You learned to skate with actual skates (not roller blades) that had metal wheels.

You had nightmares after watching Fantasy Island .

You had rubber boots for rainy days and Moon boots for snowy days. YEAH! ~ You owned a "Slip-n-Slide",on which you injured yourself on a sprinkler head more than once.

You owned "Klick-Klacks" and smacked yourself in the face more than once.

You had either a "bowl cut" or "pixie," not to mention the "Dorothy Hamill". People sometimes thought you were a boy.

Your Holly Hobbie sleeping bag was your most prized possession.

You wore a poncho, gauchos, and knickers. And now they're back in style!

You begged Santa for the electronic game, Simon.

You had the Donnie and Marie dolls with those pink and purple satiny shredded outfits.

You spent hours in your backyard on your metal swing set with the trapeze. The swing set tipped over at least once.

You had homemade ribbon barrettes in every imaginable color. (Oh yeah!)

You had a pair of Doctor Scholl's sandals (the ones with hard sole & the buckle). You also had a pair of salt-water sandals (AKA: Jellies!)

You wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder really bad; you wore that Little House on the Prairie-inspired plaid, ruffle shirt with the high neck in at least one school picture; and you despised Nellie Olson!

You wanted your first kiss to be at a roller rink.!

Your hairstyle was described as having "wings" or "feathers" and you kept it "pretty" with the comb you kept in your back pocket.

~ When you walked, the "wings" flapped up and down, looked like you were gonna "take off"

You know who Strawberry Shortcake is, as well as her friends, Blueberry Muffin and Huckleberry Pie.

You carried a Muppets lunch box to school and it was metal, not plastic. With the thermos inside!

You and your girlfriends would fight over which of the Dukes of Hazzard was your boyfriend.

YOU had Star Wars action figures, too!

It was a big event in your household each year when the "Wizard of Oz" would come on TV. Your mom would break out the popcorn and sleeping bags!

You often asked your Magic-8 ball the question: "Who will I marry...Shaun Cassidy, Leif Garrett, or David Cassidy..?"

You completely wore out your Grease, Saturday Night Fever, and Fame soundtrack record album.

You tried to do lots of arts and crafts, like yarn and Popsicle-stick God's eyes, decoupage, or those weird potholders made on a plastic loom.

You made Shrinky-Dinks and put iron-on kittens on your t-shirts!

You used to tape record songs off the radio by holding your portable tape player up to the speaker.

You had subscriptions to Dynamite and Tiger Beat.

You learned everything you needed to know about girl issues from Judy Blume books (Are you there God, It's me, Margaret.)

You thought Olivia Newton John's song "Physical" was about aerobics.

You wore friendship pins on your tennis shoes, or shoelaces with heart or rainbow designs.

You wanted to be a Solid Gold dancer.

You drowned yourself in Love's Baby Soft - which was the first "real" perfume you ever owned .. .

You glopped your lips in Strawberry Roll-on lip gloss till it almost dripped off.

I'm looking for a hiking baby carrier?

Alice

My daughter is 13 months - 22 lbs and still isn't walking. But, my husband and I love to hike. We are looking for a good/inexpensive hiking baby carrier. Preferably one for the back. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Answer
We had a Kelty Pathfinder Carrier that we got at REI eons ago. We loved that in addition to being adjustable for the child, it was really easy to switch the torso length of the backpack so my husband and i could trade off carrying. Walk around a store with your child in tow and see how it feels. A padded hipbelt and auto kickstand are must-haves, but other features we liked were the removable/easily foldable sunshade (great for wind and minor drizzle too), a padded front bar - you'd be amazed how easily your child will sleep back there, zippered pockets on the belt and shoulder straps so we could easily access items on the trail without removing the backpack (snacks, gps, phone), The zip off backpack for storage worked great so when we were hiking together we could each carry some of the load, but if either of us was hiking alone with the child (or the other one was carrying gear as we backpacked) we could have the essentials (diaper, change of clothes, food, first aid kit) with the baby. I'd search Craigslist for a good one at a discount rather than buy a new one that has less features or is cheaper.

Hints: A small hand mirror in the front hipbelt is great for checking on the baby while hiking (Is she still wearing her hat? Is she sleeping?) Sometimes you want the sunshade as a barrier to prevent hair pulling... if your little lady is anything like my second (not a problem with my first).

Has anyone actually backpacked through Europe?

MMM

What did it cost approximately--the whole amount, or what you averaged monthly, weekly, or even daily?

Did you bring a significant other and/or child with you? If you did bring a child, how young? If you didn't, do you think it is feasible?

What kind of places did you stay in? Hostels?

Did you mostly hike? How much are train trips or ferries? Can you get bicycles there?

If you don't want to answer every question, I would very much appreciate any info or links to relevant information. My husband and I are seriously considering just selling everything and going rather than stay here and struggle during this horrible recession (our respective careers have been hard hit by layoffs, lack of available work, and reduced hours). If we stay here and struggle, we will end up spending all our savings and have nothing to show for it. If we go, I'm figuring our expenses will be very much reduced and we will be able to leave the majority of our savings in the bank. I want to live life and be positive rather than be oppressed by a financial crises. This would be a huge adventure for our family--we are experienced travelers, but we rarely vacation for longer than a week or two. I want to go long term--6 months to a year. We do, obviously, want to bring our son, who is 4. He is big, sturdy, healthy, athletic, social, and fearless.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Answer
I backpacked through Europe and spent about a year living there. I made a website on how to save money while traveling based on my experience.

http://hubpages.com/hub/10-Easy-Ways-to-Save-Money-While-Traveling-In-Europe

I do not have kids, but I can tell you that it will significantly increase your cost because you can not stay at a hostel with your son. 90% of hostels require all people who stay there to be over 18. They usually do not have private rooms or locks on the doors and they can not be responsible for a child. You will have to stay at hotels which can be much more expensive for the same quality you will get at a hostel.

I took the Eurail everywhere and walked when in the cities. You can rent bicycles in just about any city, but again many companies are hesitant to allow a young child to ride a bike in a busy city street or off terrain.

Good luck :)

Liners
Very Small make up bag which consists of mini powder foundation and a brush, mini Clinique mascara, mini lipstick, mini lipgloss, mini blusher and a brush, and garnier eye refresher. I have really bad skin so I need all this.

How can I start a fundraising group?

Kat

I want to help support a charity that helps kids (I do have one in mind), but I am not in a position to give them money. I feel like I can help by organising fundraising activities etc, but I am not sure how to go about it. Does anyone have any ideas?
I don't want ideas of how to fundraise (I have plenty of them) but is there any specific things I need to do before I can raise money?
I have looked up the questions that have already been asked. None have answered what I want to know.

Answer
1)Set a goal (How much do you need to raise?)
2)Create a timeline (How much time do you have to raise it?)
3)Who will you ask for the money (What is your target audience?) Whether you are raising money for your school or a political candidate, this is critical. Look first for a list of previous donors to this or similar causes. Most political campaigns donors are now posted on the web and are searchable by zipcode. If this is unavailable create a list from Christmas-card lists; school, club or church directories; or lists of co-workers or neighbors.
4) How will you ask for the money?
The likeliest method is an event. This sets a date certain and helps keep the fundraising on-track.
Take advantage of any special talents you might have. Maybe you sew and crochet--make some items to sell. You can sell them online, at a craft show, or set up shop in your own front yard, and have a garage sale to go with it, to earn extra.
Log onto the internet, type in "fundraising items", or you can type in "wholesale candles", or "wholesale picture frames",depending on what it is that you want to sell. By going through wholesale, you can get a lot more products, than you would going to a retail store, and for more than half the price.
Make a sign or print up some fliers, letting your customers know what their money is going towards.
Have a change jar set up on your pay table, and people can drop their loose change into it, at the end of the day, go to your supermarket, or one that has a change-counting machine. Drop all the change into the machine, then it will print up a receipt for you, to take over to a cashier. Then the cashier will hand you the amount in bills, and you won't have to send change, or spend change, to fund your fund-raiser.
Contact a fundraising agency.
Create an online fundraising page (e.g. try www.firstgiving.com). Create a webpage, send the link to your family, friends, co-workers, parishioners, teammates, etc. and collect donations via credit cards online. It's easy and simple, and eliminates spending a lot of time sending letters, calling people, and organizing big events.

[edit] TipsYou can have friends, family, and people in your neighborhood donate items to you, so you can sell them in your yard sale.
If you're already on a tight budget, then a craft show probably isn't for you at this time. For many official craft shows, you have to be willing to spend $25.00 and higher for a booth.
Get a backpack or briefcase instead of handling your papers freely. It makes you look professional and it doesn't let your papers fly in the wind.
Many foundations will only give to charitable not-for-profits (i.e. 501(c)3 IRS tax status). Be sure to include a copy of this status with any letters you send to a foundation for support. Less work on their end to verify your status equals more time they can spend on learning about your cause and qualifying a contribution.

[edit] WarningsFundraising agencies typically take a large percentage of the funds they raise for you. Be sure to carefully review the contract terms before hiring an agency to raise funds for you.

I want to track down the person who is stealing things from my little brother's school locker,Help please?

a dirty di

Last Wednesday my little brother noticed his phone was missing but he thought he had left it at home. The day after (Thursday) he noticed he was missing his Gatorade and that his locker looked like someone had gone through it. He thought nothing of it. On Friday he noticed that everything inside had been moved around and his gym bag had been opened up and had gotten searched through. It's not the school because the school leaves notices of random searches. One of his friends said he saw a kid opening up his locker today while we made the police report at his school. The school said they couldn't do much (as expected) but change his locker.
I want to be persistent and get this kid busted. I was thinking something like a camera or a tracker that I would mount on a bait phone?
Any suggestions would be great, and if anyone could show me some affordable products online that I may purchase that would be great. I need hard evidence to take it to the school's police department.
On a side note, would I be breaking any laws? My little brother is a freshman in a high school.

Thank You!

Answer
Someone must have the combination to his locker

1) notify the school of the theft
2) change the combination of the lock on the locker
3) notify the cell phone service and report the phone as stolen. They will turn off the service to that phone and your phone insurance will pay for a new phone

Answer
Unfortunately what you're looking for wouldn't really be available easily or affordable to the public.

Bring the issue up with the head of the school, this is a very important issue that they need to sort out. If possible, have your brother put a lock on his locker. Not a combination lock, but a key lock so only a key holder can open it.
You may also want to try a different part of Yahoo Answers for more advice, this is the camera section and most people here wouldn't be very knowledgeable on such an issue.

Hope that's helped somewhat.

school bag question!!!!!?

Q. okay so I would like to know what kind of school bag I should get.
Okay so about my school we don't carry around our bags and backpacks cause we're not allowed too.(security issues)And we have full length lockers if that makes a diffrence.I really like the hollister/abercombie/aero tote bags. But i don't know if i should get something like a roxy or billabong backpack. Also I wanted to know what you guys thought of large aero tote bags and useing the same one 2 years in a row.Or if useing the same one is a totally NOT!I think it mite be a not since my school is full of fashionistas.Anyways please answer!!!!

Answer
Who gives a damn about fashionistas. They are stuck up people who spend more money than necessary to follow trends that won't be "in" withing 5 months.

If you walk home or ride a bus, get a real backpack. It can get heavy when your science teacher assigns homework & your math teacher wants a bunch of papers done & your english teacher expects you to have a paper the next day.

I personally think Roxy & Billabong have cuter bags than Hollister. & you can use the same bag for all four years of HS if you want.

Girls, In high school do you carry backpacks or large bags?

Q. Im going into high school and i was wondering do u still bookbags or oversized tote type things

Answer
We have lockers at my school so I carry my purse with me at all times and I usually stop by my locker between classes and take out the books I need for the next 1 or 2 classes and just carry them. I usually have many books and binders to take home at the end of the day, so I carry my books to and from school in a backpack and then leave the backpack in my locker during school. This way, my backpack's there when I need it and I don't have to lug it around when I don't. My purse is always with me and it contains my little necessities.

Messenger Bag or Backpack?

Serena

I am in middle school( year 7) and i am not sure whether to use a backpack or messenger(side ) bag. I usually have 1 folder full of 3 books, 1 binder and 1 other folder, a pencil case and cosmetic bag. I find the backpack better looking but since it has wheels, it adds a little weight. It's held up good, but i'm wondering whether to use the side one or not.

Answer
i used a backpack in middle school and desperately wanted a vera bradley messenger bag, so starting in 9th grade i got one. i wish i had just stuck with the backpack. the messenger bag is cool at first but after a while your shoulder hurts, and if youre pale like me, leaves red marks. you should stick with the backpack :)

My school bag has bent my back. Help?

Anonumas S

I'm starting to look like the humpback of Notre dam. Since primary school my school bag has been really heavy so I lean forward to prevent falling backwards. All the books I need are for home work. Now I'm in third year, secondary school, and we have the junior cert this year and all of my teachers are telling us to bring our books home every night to study, even though I don't homework still makes my school bag almost impossible to close. Since last year I have gone through 4 school bags they keep ripping the one I have is ripped at the top beside the handle that bag cost 40â¬. I weighed my bag on a few occasions it usually weighs 2 or 2and a half stone . Is there any way to fix my posture? Standing up straight hurts my neck and back and I get cramps at the side of my neck sometimes which are rediculously painful. HELP. :(
My schools really crowded a wheely bag :P has come to mind before but my principal said everyone would trip over it :( I don't have time for yoga too much homework.
I do do homework unlike most people in my school I just don't study every class every night like the teachers want. I'm scared of teachers so I do the homework.
Is swissgear a good brand? If yes I beg to differ.( "from the maker of the genuine Swiss army knife tm" )

Answer
Get a rolling bag, kind of like what the airline stewards use, like these:

http://www.ebags.com/category/wheeled-backpacks/2003995

And get into a yoga class to help realign your back and strengthen your core.

Good luck.

EDIT:
MAKE time. A class or two on the weekend will give you the tools you need to engage your core (stomach) muscles that protect your back, and once you have some information, you can stretch on your own to counter the damage the backpack is doing.

But get a rolling bag anyway, get a doctor to write a note for your idiotic principal, if necessary.
