I think it would be fun to go to school with pencils and notebooks that have something on them that I am interested in, but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for them! How can I put pictures/logos, etc onto pencils or notebooks? I also just think it would be fun to personalize them if I want to take an afternoon and relax and do something semi-crafty... Thanks in advance!

Answer
Paint on them with acrylic paints (the pencils- buy the yellow ones at Walmart or other discount store or look for other light colors at office supply stores like Staples, Office Depot) or the Dollar stores. Before youstart painting, make your self a "cradle" for your pencil with two clothes pins or clips. Place one end of pencil in each of clips, and stand clips up so pencil is held off the table and the paint is not going all over the table. Use wax or freezer paper or a cut up paper bag on table to protect it from paint.

I often find packages of several with different holiday themes on them the day AFTER the holiday for about 75% off for 20 or so pencils (like just after Halloween, I got a package with cute pictures on them for $1.25 at Target) also check Walgreens and CVS pharmacies in their school supplies and check the Sunday paper for coupons - I frequently get 8 for $1.00 in a holiday or special theme with the coupons. I teach school and give them out for rewards...If you paint something , try polka dots first, that is really fun...one color or several different ones. That is something I never see in decorated pencils or notebooks... If you want to decorate the notebooks easily - get some colored stick on 'dots" at the office supply - they are cheap and come in all colors and go fast. You could then draw something on the larger "dots" ...

something else re your notebooks - use permanent colored markers on light color paper notebook covers. draw your picture with a pencil - very lightly, then color in with markers if you like, then go around edges of each picture with black marker - cool look.I say "permanent' because the washable ones rub off the slick surface of the notebook cover (guess how I found that out?) let dry a few days before taking to school.
Note: copying anime or manga or any other cartoon or comics characters is NOT original art - everyone all over the world is doing it, so if you truly want to be original come up with something of YOUR OWN! Otherwise you may as well just buy some cartoon stickers and stick them on (yawn)

Is it basic etiquette to send gifts to all birthday parties celebrated at school?

What should I get my boyfriend for Christmas? I want to get him something we can do together.?

Christy Wi

My boyfriend of 1 year says he doesn't want anything for Christmas, and he HATES getting gifts. I was thinking that I could get him something we could do together, such as concert tickets or something of that sort. I'm still in high school, so a vacation is obviously out of the question. Any ideas?

Answer
Gift ideas for birthdays, mothers day, fathers day, Christmas....

Driving: a CLUB, steering wheel cover, back support pillow, window shades
Diving: Scuba gear, new flippers, weights, snorkel,
Swimming: cool swim suit, sun glasses, visors, beach towel
Golf: Personalized tees or balls, glove, golf bag, cart with wheels
Ball games: Ball, glove, mitt, or tickets to favorite team, baseball cap
Boating: Floating ice chest, floating flashlight, flag, canopy, life vest..
CDs of favorite artists, concert tickets
Quilt, comforter, Snuggy thing, booties, pretty umbrella
Lip gloss, spray-on hair shine, energy bars, votive candles, calendar, hair extensions, clips
Board games: checkers, chess, Upwords, Scrabble, Monopoly, card games...
Book covers
Badminton, ping pong set, croquet, horseshoes
2-man inflatable raft (canoe, boat, kayak) and paddles
bicycle built for 2

The best and easiest gift to receive and to give is a Gift Card/Certificate to a favorite store.
They can redeem it after the holidays when things are half price.

Especially for adults that are hard to buy for:
Make some "good for" tickets and put them in a stocking or card. Things that say:
Good for one free back/neck/foot massage.
Good for detailing your car (wash, wax, shampoo car carpets and seats)
Good for vacuuming the whole house
Good for cleaning the garage, attic and/or basement (whichever you have)
Good for babysitting the younger kids so you can have a peaceful bubble bath
Good for making dinner every nite for a week, doing the dishes and cleaning up afterward
Good for cleaning out the fireplace and chimney
Take down curtains and drapes, wash them and re-hang.
Clean upholstered furniture.
Wash windows
Shampoo carpets

I bet you can think of a lot more; you know them better than we do. Trust me, they'll be thrilled!!!

I have to give a freebie gift to children aged 7-10 years. I've noticed they either carry a cartoon backpack (Barbie, Ben10, Batman, etc) or a branded backpack (Nike, Adidas, Puma) to school.
Would these kids appreciate a well design backpack or a well design duffle (gym) bag to use for travel and hobby classes.

How to be popular in High School?

Joseph

I'm in eighth grade, nearing the end of my school year. I'm going to a high school where very few people from my middle school are going. Currently, in middle school, I am semi-popular. So next year I'll be a freshman. Only four people from my middle school are going to the high school I'm going to go to. So what are some tips to be popular as a high school freshman?

Answer
dress nice, and make sure you're always with style. you're a guy so nike socks, snapbacks, jordans, vans, converse. you can buy all those clothes from zumiez.com and tillys.com. you have to have confidence and act like you do. don't take any crap from anyone and be chill, smile a lot, and make sure your teeth are white, and stay in shape. buy a cool backpack like jansport, and make sure the clothes you buy are the ones you like and feel comfortable in, so you can add your own style to it, but also be popular. shop online or if you have a mall in your city/town go there and pick up a lot of cool stuff. wear necklaces, but not too many at once, only one, and no gold or fake looking ones that are glittery/sparkly. if you don't have the best smile, like you have a gap or your teeth are crooked you can still smile, it doesn't matter as long as your teeth are white. have good grades, and wash your face to get rid of acne. on ur first day of highschool try to spot out some of the popular kids and go up to one of them if you have a class with them. be friendly and loyal and don't talk about anyone behind their back on the first day. try to get people's phone numbers, add them on kik, instagram, whatever u have and always be social and ALWAYS be in style. also, find a sport that you're good at, like football or basketball or swimming or track, and join the school's team; be the best at it. make sure everyone's always saying hey to you when you walk past them. good luck! (or just be yourself)

what were 1950s like?

school bags 1950s image

Malkiin

please tell me everything you know about that decade.

Answer
In England the 1950's were like this -

We had school milk, smoking chimneys, trolley buses, and steam trains. The coal was delivered on a horse and cart, the milk came on an electric trolley, and the gas man, the insurance man, and the rent man all had bicycles. The Co-op had a fantastic overhead bucket system for taking your money to the cash lady and sending back your change. Pound notes were worth so much there were twenty shillings for every pound and twelve pennies for every shilling. Clothes and things were expensive so most people wore the same things most of the time and saved their best clothes for Sundays and special occasions. Children had to wear what their older brothers and sisters had grown out of, and our mums darned our socks and mended our trousers. Every week we would have a bath in the kitchen. Plastic bags, tooth paste, instant noodles, and toilet paper hadn't been invented yet, and if your dad was lucky enough to have a car he was allowed to park it anywhere, except at night with no lights on.
Almost everyone smoked cigarettes, except in school and in church, and children spent most of their spare time sitting outside pubs waiting for closing time. Indoors we used to play with glass marbles, lead soldiers, and dinky toys, and every week we read the Beano and the Dandy, and then swapped them for other comics with our friends. The family all listened to the light programme and the home service on the wireless, and each week we took the accumulator to the electric shop to get it charged up. When King George died my dad bought a small television with an oval screen and everyone in the street crowded in to watch the coronation of Queen Elizabeth. There was no advertising on the television and most of the time there were no programmes on it either.
Going out to the countryside was great. You were allowed to pick flowers, light bonfires, collect birds eggs, climb trees and do almost anything provided a farmer didn't catch you.
Everywhere in town there were policemen on bicycles, park wardens, and truant officers, all of whom were allowed to beat you if you were suspected of doing anything criminal. Inside school there were teachers, who were there to protect you from bullies and make sure you drank your milk, but they were also allowed to beat you for any reason whatever.
In London there were lots of bomb sites and empty areas left over from the war but the bits that had been cleared up were fantastic and they were all owned by the public and everyone could go anywhere they wanted to.

I need people who were born in the 1950s?

dana

I have to interview people who were born in the 1950s and since I don't have any grandparents I was wondering if people could help me out. The questions are listed below. Thank you to the people that help.

1.State your name. What was your approximate age and occupation in the year 1960?

2.Do you remember the Cold War of the 1950s and 1960s? Discuss how you felt about the existence of Communism in the world.

3. Do you remember the Cuban Missile Crisis in the fall of 1962? What were your feelings during those days?

4. What was your opinion of President John F. Kennedy? Do you remember where you were the day of his assassination in 1963? Please share your memories of that time.

5. What was your opinion of President Lyndon Johnson?

6. What was your opinion about the United Statesâ involvement in the Vietnam War?

7. Did you (or your family) own a television during the 1960s? If so, what were your favorite 1960s TV shows? Why did you choose those shows?

8. Do you remember the African American civil rights movement of the 1960s? For example, do you recall the August, 1963 March on Washington in which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous âI Have a Dreamâ speech? Do you remember any other events related to the civil rights movement in the 1960s? What was your opinion of the civil rights movement?

9. What was your opinion of the 1960s womenâs rights movement?

10. Did you attend the 1969 Woodstock Festival? If so, what was your experience? If not, what was your opinion of the festival and the 1960s youth counterculture?

Answer
Actually, I was born in 1943, so I don't know if I qualify for your Survey, but being older I may have a better grip on it. So i'll do it anyway.

1) Steve - 17yrs of age, In High School and worked Part time for my Uncle's Orthopedic Store

2) The Cold war brought about allot of fear of Communism and that Russia would cause a War with the United States. I felt sure that it would spread

3) The Cuban Missile Crises, holds special meaning to me because I was in the US Army at the time and put on Alert to go to Cuba if need be to fight Our bags were packed, trucks loaded and ready to depart to the air strip.I remember calling home and telling my Mom I may be going, It was scary for a young boy of 18,

4) President John F Kennedy's assassination is another very vivid memory for me, I had just moved off the Army base with my new Bride,In Clarksville Tennessee, the Delivery man was hauling in our TV set and said to us, The President was just shot, That really floored me, Again I was on alert and ordered back to base for briefing on what may happen next.
I for one Like President Kennedy, he was sharp, young and knew what the people wanted,

5) Lyndon B Johnson, to me was a shifty, not to be trusted President, I did not like his politics

6) Vietnam, was a sad time for america, we got dragged into a war that was not just, many of my friends lost there lives there. We fought not to win, but placate politicos,

7) We owned an Emerson TV, and before entering military service in 1962, we watched, The Ed Sullivan show, Ozzie and Harriet, Our Miss brooks, Disney Series, Wrestling, Steve Allan talk show,
American Bandstand. These shows were family oriented, had variety, non-violent, fun,

8) Martin Luthar King jr, was a non violent activist for Civil Rights, I recall racial tensions and one incident in Brooklyn where the National Guard had to be called to quell the rioting. I enjoyed the I have a dream speach and the March was a successful one, I do believe that King made great strides for civil rights for Blacks, I admire him and his works,
9)The 1960's were a turbulant time for many women, what with the burning of the Bra's and equal rights in the work place etc, it turned men on there ear, Women, going from passive to aggressive and standing up for themselves led to a rethinking by men as to a womans role in society.

10) Ah, The Festival at Wood Stock, What a wild drug crazed event,, NO I did not attend, thought about it briefly but realized the sheer folly to even attempt it,.To be honest, the free love aspect intriqued me some but not to a great extent, I was never into the Drug culture so was not in tune with the youth movement at the time, Did not really approve of what they were doing, then again I was Married and in my late 20's had 2 kids, a job, and settled

Hope I helped you with this,? if not , hey I enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane, Best of Luck

What is a good value, cheap digital camera?

facebook school bags for kids image

Matt

The camera doesn't need to have very good picture quality perhaps 3.5 mega pixels, needs to be fairly durable and compact and water resistant, however, it does not need to be water proof. The main thing is that it needs to be fairly cheap, under $150.

Answer
I bought Canon PowerShot SD1300IS for my wife to carry in her purse so she can shoot pictures and video of the kids while they're out and about, or when she drops in on them at their school. No camera bag needed, this camera fits in a zipped interior pocket of her purse.

I gave it to her and she was able to successfully power it on/off, shoot pictures, shoot video, zoom, delete bad shots, and navigate the menu system without referring to the manual. The point here is if you currently own a Canon point and shoot and are looking for an upgrade, the learning curve on the SD1300IS is almost zero. If you've never owned a Canon point and shoot, you will figure this one out very easily.

The 12MP pictures are stunning, but to be honest I can't tell the difference between the ones that are 12MP and the ones that are 8MP on my Canon S5IS. The pictures the Rebel XS takes are a notch above the others, definitely a noticeable difference there.

The video quality is 30fps 640x480 (plenty), same as my S5IS. The image stabilization is a must for this to be of any use, and works like a champ. A 4GB SDHC card holds about 32 minutes worth of video, 8GB 64 minutes, 16GB more than 2 hours! The video is very easy to transfer to your computer and burn to a DVD or upload to Facebook using the included USB cable. There is also an included cable that allows you to play video on your TV via the yellow video cable port.

The appearance of the camera is so cool. I bought my wife the green one, and it looks great. I like how the lens completely retracts into the body and covers itself with a protective layer. A handy camera strap is also included, which is good because this thing is so small I could see it slipping out of your hands.

All in all, a very easy to use, functional, attractive camera that I have no hesitation recommending!

How should I decorate my school bag?

Got a new school bag, a plain army style satchel. I was wondering how I should decorate it for school?

I really want to reflect my style on it. I've searched it up on google, but they all suggest is drawing all over it, gluing glitter and piper cleaners to it. Frankly, that sounds awful.

Im a big fan of doctor who, Sherlock, Harry potter, and lord of the rings. And I want to incorporate this in my design. I've already stuck some badges to it, but it doesn't seem enough.

I was searching for iron on or sew on patches of the TARDIS, 221B, the one ring and all that. But I cant find any!

I had an idea, one I really wanted to do. I was planning to make a dangly charm thing for my zip. Including metal charms of my fave fandoms. If you know anywhere that sells metal TARDIS charms, 221B, deathly gallows signs etc. please tell me!

Answer
add charms to the zip and loads of badges
Add neon patches to it

Where can I get a school bag for a teenage girl?

Pumpkin.

I'm 14 and will be going into Year 10 soon and this year, I want to like everything I'm wearing i.e makeup, hair style etc. I really feel like my look is changing and I would like to recreate my image over the summer holidays. Please can you give me some websites/ links to online/ high street shops where there are affordable school bags? I'm looking for like satchels, roomy tote bags etc. Thanks.

Answer
I'm the same age and year as you. For affordable bags I would check out New Look, Primark, H&M and TKMaxx. If you want a better quality bag that would last you pretty much the whole year I would recommend Topshop, River Island and Monsoon/Accesorize (where I got my bag from). These shops are pricier but are worth it.

Where can I get a bag like the one Indiana Jones has?

Q. Hey I'm a guy and a few of my friends at my school have bags that are basically in the same fashion as Indiana Jones where it hangs from one shoulder and crosses over to the opposite hip, except these are more school-equipped... as in made of cloth instead of leather and have more space. They are also more horizontally shaped instead of vertically. I can't seem to find these. Whenever I search cloth satchel all I get is purses... can someone please help?

Answer
Those are messenger bags. I get mine at Spencer's and hot topic. They usually have something on them like a band name or artist on them. You can also get them at Walmart. Target.

what do i need to become a fashionable 6th grade ?What do i put in my locker and binder?shcool outfits ?Please

Q. i am goim=ng in to 6th grade and ineed help

Answer
ok, so we've all been there, but trust me middle school is way better than elementary school.

for your binder
- Don't put pictures of high school musical or other childish actors and musicians like the jonas brothers and whoever else are big for the younger kids now. trust me people WILL make fun of you. (i do it all the time haha)

-try to stay as organized as posible. i know you could probably care less about that but it really is good practice for 8th grade. (trust me it can make the difference between passing and failing, i would know lol)

for your locker
- well i always shared lockers with a few friends, like four people all together. in one locker we put morning books, in another afternoon books, one for extra clothes;shoes;gym clothes; etc, and in the last locker we put txt books we never used and just things like that. oh and if you do that make sure you keep a list of each lock combo for each locker in your bag.

clothes!
- this is my fav part =] ok so backpacks are a no go. get a cute tote or messenger bag. im actually considering this one, from delia*s. it can change from a tote to a messenger http://store.delias.com/item.do?categoryID=1856&itemID=50220&sizeFilter=&colorFilter=&brandFilter=
bags like this can be expensive so don't buy it unless it matches with almost everything. also you can make a deal with your mom (or guardian or whoever) convince her/him that a regular backpack might cost them up to $60 so instead ask if you can get 3 $20 totes/messengers. oh and when i say messenger i mean like one of these http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7430539/c/3.html
or this one
http://shop.pacsun.com/girls/girls-handbags/Athena-Brown-Sling-Bag/index.pro
avoid the sketcher kind of messenger bag.
actually avoid anything thats sketcher brand, especially the shoes oh god those shoes are horrible.

- as for clothes, dont go out and deck out your wardrobe in abercrombie and hollister clothes. one bad thing about doing that is because its so expensive youll have only a couple of things for back to school where as if you when out and bought clothes that are cheaper (and not to mention cuter) you could have way more clothes for the same price. another bad thing about buying the a&f and hollister clothes is that its not a style. if you want its ok to buy a zip up hoodie or two from those places but dont buy anything else really. i mean come on, a $20 tank top that white with pink moose on it? thats crazy.
- some places you might want to consider shopping
-pacsun (kind of expensive but its cool)
-delia*s (<33 that store!)
-alloy (basically the same as delia*s)
-american eagle (just avoid the plain t's that say american eagle, instead buy some cute cardigans or something)
-aero (same as ae, dont buy the plain t's that say aeropostale on them)
-wetseal (you can get anything there, clothes, accessories, shoes, etc for really cheap)
-forever 21 (they have super cute clothes with great deals)
-rue 21 (my fav store of all time, amazing deals and fab clothes)
-mandee (another personal fav store of mine, everytime i go there i always find something, actually i got a dress and shoes there for my 8th grade dance)
-zumiez (they have the coolest t's there)
-old navy (they have some cute stuff just dont announce to any one where you got it)
-gap (i dont recommend buying their clothes but they do have cute shoes)
-journeys (you can get some awesome shoes, bags, and t's there.
- joyce leslie (mostly everthing there is either $12 or $14 which is great, its also good if your looking for clothes for a more formal occasion, like a chorus or band concert)
-vintage or thrift shops (great because well lets admitt it sucks to be wearing the same shirt as some one and no one will ever have the same outfit as you if you buy from thift shops, but i would reccomend buying mostly jewelry from there, instead of clothes if you dont like the idea of wearing used clothes)
- macys (they can either be really expensive or really cheap you just have to hunt for the good deals, but overall they have a lot of cute unique tops)
-charlotte russe (i luve that store its soo fab!)

- oh and please, no more kids section, your in middle school now its time for the juniors section.

- Dont shop at limited too! its time to move on from childhood, try the limited, express, or h&m instead.

get a fab lace cami for layering, i suggest buying it in black, white, and maybe one bright color like the pink

plain t's are great for layering under flowy camis and tanks

some fab tops to consider
-http://www.zumiez.com/zshop/ProductList.aspx?DepartmentID=4&CategoryID=697&ShopByBrand=False&OrganizationID=-1&ViewAll=true
take a look at all these cool graphic t's from zumiez! i have a couple of those actually

this top is super cute, layer it with an orange color shrug or over an orange plain tee or tank

this shrug is soo fab you can wear it over anything, a cute tank, a graphic tee, whatever! i actually have this exact shrug except mine is from max rave (also a fab store you should check out)

heres the full list of tops from mandee

- rue21 has a bad website, it does them no justice. so i wont bother giving you the link, but i highly recommend that you check out the store

check out the wetseal website theyv always got cool stuff and great deals

- as far as pants go, skinny jeans are great. try to buy mostly all skinnies! avoid flares, although i do recommend buying one pair. you can find skinny jeans almost anywhere, i love the ones from zumiez and aeropostal (theirs are super comfy) if you want a skirt id say try one of these
http://store.delias.com/browse.do?categoryID=450&page=1&size=&color=
the first three, the black&white stripe joanna mini, or the bianca navy skirt on the second page

- as far as accessories go, try some of these
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=1572369
those are all super cute, im not going to go into accessories that much as long as you have the outfit, just match jewelry from there.
BUT
these are some must haves for jewelry
- http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=2400645
get one of those, i suggest silver. i got one from jc penney, real sterling silver for $14

-also, get a necklace with your name on it like this
http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=2400676
i suggest silver so you can wear it with the heart tag bracelet.

other accessories
-studded belts are in style too, try to find one in gold or pink, instead of silver&black, for a more girly, softer look.

well i think thats about it =] sorry it took me so long, i know the feeling of being nervous about middle school so i wanted to help you as much as possible

good luck!

oh by the way, i dont know if your school does this, but some schools in the summer will have an orientation where you can take your schedule and find your classes and stuff before the first day of school.

if your school has this, go, and when you do, PAY ATTENTION!! i didnt for mine, i spent most of the day catching up with friends i hadnt seen all summer and on the first day of school i was kind of lost and i regretted not paying any attention at the orientation.

if your school doesnt have one of those then there will be teachers and hall monitors to help you find your way. so dont worry.

oh yeah i forgot about hair and makeup (i was reading your other answers)
i agree with the senior who also wrote a lot. go with brown eyeliner and mascara, you dont need much more than that (i use brown eyeliner and brown mascara)

i also i agree with her on hair, get full bangs (thats what i have) as for length do whatevers comfortable to you, mine is a little longer than shoulder length. i straighten it and it flips out at the bottom. just try to be creative when styling your hair. dont just do the straight straight straight look, add some of your personal flare and your good to go!

What should one buy when going school clothes shopping with a budget of 300 dollars?

Benji!

I'm going school clothes shopping real soon. What are sone things I should purchase, And wear should I shop.

Answer
Budget of $300.00 ok heres what I think

Tops: Your should buy atleast about 8 new tops but not all in the same fashion you know some button down, screen tee's and etc.

You should buy atleast two jackets just incase it gets super cold at your school like at mines, so two will work so you wont have to wear the same one over and over and it get faded.

Belts: you should buy atleast three new belts, but defiently get a black one since it goes with everything, then you get one with designs on it etc.

Bottoms: Get like a variety of bottoms and I mean like some skinny some flare and some bermudas or capris. Also skirts if you like wearing them. I think 7 or 6 new bottoms will do.

Shoes: I dont recommend buying all YOUR SHOES flats && converses. U alway need a pair of tennis shoes like Jordans, Forces, or Nike. So about 2 pair of new flats 3 pair of converse vans or whatever other kind. and one pair of tennis shoes.

Accesories: Now braceltets and all that should not be brought more then 12.00-17.00 because if it isnt real gold or silver why buy something for so much that'll fade? Book bags you should always have a book bag. Totes are good but what if you have more books to take home then bargained? yeah that wouldnt work out well so buy a book bag.

The Under-Wear: Socks is a must you dont need like 39 pair of them though so like a pack of new sock and a pack of socks with cute designs on them. you should always have atleast 5 pair of white socks. Bras&& Panties you should buy new pack of panties and like 7 pair of new bras or 5 becuase those other bras are most likely going to be less comfortable. I mean of course your still growing all over. So get sized and buy some new one's. Leggings, if you wear leggings you should always get a pair of black one just in case. Then you can get some colors your want. I recommend three pair or leggings.

Purse: About one or two new purses will be acceptable nah maybe 3 yeah three will do always get one that is just a primary color with no designs because it'll most likely be carriable with most of your outfits. The other two you can get with a design or your favorite cartoon character. =)

ALl of this shoulf it into your budget and most likely will help you save.

I hope this helps.

How to Dress like Japanese girl for haloween?

school bags uk online
on High School Musical Filled Party Bag - Girls Bargain

Mia

i want to dress like a Japanese girl for Halloween but not like the traditional old kind thing, like the new age pop sort of harajuku kinda thing. Where can i find clothes like that? and the little hair thingies they wear in there hair and small backpacks or whatever?

Answer
http://www.flickr.com/groups/harajuku/ << this is a group which has a lot of photos of Japanese fashion including schoolgirl and Harajuku fashion!

they basically wear childrens hairclips in their hair which you can get from anywhere like Claires or shops which sell hair accessories and jewellry

the backpacks are also kids backpacks which you can get from loads of places such as bargain shoe stores (most of these sell bags as well as shoes) and you could try the Disney store?

if you dont mind buying online, eBay is good for buying a lot of the things you described, ill give you some links to examples here:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CHILDRENS-BUNNY-HAIR-CLIPS-GRIPS-GIRLS_W0QQitemZ150273579245QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item150273579245&_trkparms=72%3A1089%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hello-Kitty-Childrens-Backpack-Rucksack-School-bag-Kids_W0QQitemZ380058385035QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item380058385035&_trkparms=72%3A1089%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SANIRO-HELLO-KITTY-CAT-ROSE-STRAWBERRY-HAIR-CLIPS_W0QQitemZ320290118865QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320290118865&_trkparms=72%3A1089%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

a lot of the accessories that the Japanese girls wear are along the lines of Hello Kitty so if you can find Hello Kitty accessories then that would be great! and remember to really get into character you need to keep smiling and doing the peace sign that a lot of Japanese girls do in photos! like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/60233675@N00/2709723812/in/pool-harajuku

have fun!

How long does an insulated bag work for?

character school bags for kids
on Small School Backpack For Kids (TB307S.bb)
character school bags for kids image

~ <3 ~

I'm going to be at college for 12hrs, plus another 2hrs driving time.

If I were to keep some food in an insulated bag, APPROXIMATELY (to your best knowledge) how many hours max would it stay fresh for if:

-the food was reallly hot or frozen?
-it was just sorta cold?

Thanks.

Answer
I found this for you. Hope it helps!

Lunch Bags & Boxes
The first thing you will need is a container in which to pack the lunch. It doesn't need to cost a lot of money. For adults a small cooler makes a great lunch box. Fred uses a medium sized cooler. He is usually gone for 24 to 48 hours, so he needs alot of food to keep him going. For children and teenagers, you can usually find inexpensive lunch boxes and insulated lunch bags at yard sales and thrift stores.

Small children often prefer a plastic lunch box with cartoon characters on the side. I suggest you buy these as cheaply as possible. They only last for a year or two before the children drop them or the latch breaks. At $6 to $10 a piece, buying brand new boxes has never been a good investment for me. I have purchased them new when I desperately needed the thermoses that came with them. After the plastic lunch box broke, I purchased replacements from my local Goodwill. I continue to use the same thermos year after year.

If the art work on an older lunch box is shabby, you can easily replace it. Use rubber cement to glue down a new picture (cut to size) and then cover the picture with clear contact paper. I've done this, and it lasted almost 2 years, until the lunch box cracked and became unusable. Amy D. describes the process in detail in the first book of The Tightwad Gazette.

For older children insulated lunch bags work best. They don't have the juvenile connotations of plastic boxes with matching thermoses, so older kids usually don't object to carrying them. I like them because they don't break when they get drop-kicked across the livingroom by a budding football player. Since they have soft sides, it is easier to fit more food and odd-shaped containers in them too. They usually have zipper closing and shoulder straps for carrying them. I buy the largest ones I can find because I find them easier to fill. Many modern insulated bags have several extra zipper pockets and sections on the outside to carry little extras like napkins, spoons and salt or pepper packets. My boys like these but they aren't really necessary. Purchased brand-new, insulated lunch bags cost between $5 and $15. If you wait until back-to-school-sales you may find them cheaper. Over the summer they can often be found at yard sales. Insulated lunch bags usually do not come with their own thermos, so you will have to use some you already have or buy them separately.

what key strengths can I use for a extremely flawed character?

Ruby

Suffers from addiction, Bit of a player and completely misunderstood because the character just can't communicate. Instead of trying to talk she just dumps the person. She also has a bad habit of pushing people away when they get to close or is scared of hurting them.

Answer
Make her the only person patient with her grandfather since he came to live with the family after his stroke.

Or she could be her mentally retarded brother's best friend and ally, the only person who treats him with the respect he deserves--and the respect she doesn't give others.

Or make her someone who's sympathetic toward and tries to help animals, treating them better than she does people.

Make her book smart despite her personal and social problems. Or extremely well read and thoughtful, although she can't be bothered to do the work at school.

Or she could be creative and artistic, mastering some difficult form of art teens rarely get into, like metal sculpture using welding.

Or she could be the replacement-mom, managing the household since her mother died/left/started drinking/got cancer, being almost a parent to younger siblings, doing all the housework, without bragging about it to anybody, just doing what has to get done.

Or she could be kind to the creepy kid who seems to be homeless, snubbing him at school but making sure he has a sandwich, a sleeping bag, or school supplies, so long as nobody sees her do it.

There are a lot of possible ways to be strong.

I was just wondering cuz i heard that some kids in high school have roller back packs.

When I was in middle school they were banned because a teacher tripped and fell over a roller and like broke her wrist. Roller backpacks were cool for like 2 seconds in the 90's. Do not get one. especially if your just starting high school.

What supplies do you take on teh first day of high school?

Nicole

Any tips for high school? I know you take a notebook and pen, but do you take a calculator? What about a graphing calculator? And how do you handle high school? Anyone have tips on how to manage time? What about studying strategies? I'm so scared!
I know I need a graphing calculator because my eighth grade teacher told us we would need it and I am taking Alg 2/Trig. Also I am taking all honors (Math, English and Biology) so any tips on how to handle these classes?
I'm just scared in general! I've heard about the high competition at my high school and I'm afraid I would be able to stay in the top 5%. And when do grades start to count? I've heard that ninth grade biology conts for everything and ninth grade onwards counts for private schools. And is it tenth grade up for the UC schools (University of California)

Answer
Wow, sweetie! First take a deep breath and try to relax.

Yes, take a notebook, pens, and pencils in a backpack or bookbag (I think they are calling them "messenger bags" now). No, you do not need a calculator or anything like that on the first day. A lot of teachers will have specific requirements for the supplies they want you to have, so you'll probably have to shop after school begins anyway.

DO bring a hairbrush, perfume/cologne and any makeup you might wear so that you can freshen up at some point during the day.

Wear something that you absolutely feel great in, and comfortable shoes! Bring money for lunch or a beverage.

As for handling High School, you handle it just like anything else ... one day at a time. You'll get used to things pretty quickly.

Managing time ... my biggest piece of advice is to NOT procrastinate at all. If you know you have an assignment due, don't wait till the last minute to do it. You'll only end up stressing yourself out and your work will show it.

Everyone studies differently. Definitely have a neat space in a quiet room ... some soft classical music might be nice. Have a beverage to keep refreshed. Do not watch TV, talk on the phone, or listen to popular music while studying. All of these things will just distract you. Also, make sure you have plenty of light ... a lack of light will make you and your eyes tired and can lead to a feeling of depression.

Everyone feels scared going into high school, even the most popular kids. So, just remind yourself that everyone is scared, just like you. Then, raise your head up, make eye contact with others, and be friendly. Once you get used to this, you can handle anything with ease.

Everyone at school has these super cute bags, where can i get one?

Lots of kids at school have these kitted crossbody looking messenger bag things, that they put their notebooks in. I've looked everywhere for one. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Answer
i have a whole bunch of really cute bags i mostly get them from aeropostsle from about 15-$19.00

Do you recommend a messenger bag or a regular back pack?

Dimples

I saw kids carry messenger bags in middle school but are they considered "cool" in High School? And which one has more room, which one is safer for my back?

Answer
A regular backpack is better for your back because it distributes the weight evenly on your shoulders. If your bag is typically very heavy a regular backpack is better.

Proboscis

I need a good lunch box/bag for high school. I always bring my lunch because the school food is disgusting, and I do not want (i.e., will NEVER use) a brown paper bag. I do not want a lunch bag that is too childish/girlish/cute and I don't want to be embarrassed carrying or using my lunch box.

All suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

Where to buy Japanese High School Bag?

eva

Does anybody know where I can purchase one of those nylon school bags, Japanese High School girls use? I need a shop in Tokyo.

Answer
Gwen Stefani's 'Harajuku Lovers' brand has big huge tote bags with the cutest designs. I love them, they're so adorable. You can get them a Pac Sun, Macy's, Ebay, or on the official Harajuku Lovers website.

Best way to start of school tips?

rachel.

Can you give me some tips on how to prepare for the first day of school?
I'm in 8th grade if you really want to know.

Answer
i mite be a lil 6th grade scrub (thats wut they call 6th graders at my school) :P but believe me, there are tons of people who look up to the gods of 8th grade.

1) get a stylish, looking backpack. Nobody wants to be seen...or be seen with someone who has an ugly, old, big, bag overload, backpack. A nice black jansport would be nice. Try a zebra print cover, 4 8th graders at my school have one..and EVERYONE knows them. Or, you could carry an ordinary solid color bookback. made out of jean/fabric. Add pins and patches to make it look cute :)

2) If you dont have to wear uniform...DONT WEAR IT!. But if yew do, make sure ur shirt fits a lil tight (to show off ur goods) wear a navy blue shirt on top, and a white shirt on the bottom, and let it show a lil bit at the bottom, and maybe a bit at the neck line. If yew dont gotta wear uniform, wear pink/blue/black skinny jeans. any skinny jean will do, but those colors are perferable. Wear a cute T. like http://www.tillys.com/tillys/Categories.aspx?cid=1061&ctlg=020_Girls
or a flannel with ordinary skinny jeans. flats, vans, or converse make a nice fit :)

3) STYLE UP UR HAIR!!! curly, wavy, sraight, layered, long, choose the best for you!

4) SCHOOL SUPPLIES! u need school supplies. no one wants to be stuck possibly asking a stranger for supplies. get cute pencils, binders that show off you style, cute erasers, etc.

5) ACCESORIES!!! braceletes, necklaces, trendy watched, brooches, or cute lil bows for u hair mite work ;)

oh and one more thing....BE NICE!!

trust me, the little ppl such as me hate it when 8th graders think theyre all that. act nice around ppl, dont be a hore, dont walk around laughing like ur crazy or to get attention, and dont call 6th graders names. seriosuly, we already have a plan to get back at sum so called 8th grader, lol

hope i helped :)

What type of little mini bag/purse can I bring to school?

Q. I heard girls bring little purses. Should I bring my louis vuitton purse? Since its real, what will people think of me ? I'm pretty rich so I have a ton of wallets, purses, etc. I'm going to the 8th grade and I've always been a private schooler so I never got to bring this stuff to school. Any advice? Pictures would be a plus. Thanks.

Answer
I am in private school too and have never even set foot inside a public school. I am also going into 8th grade (:

Just continue to bring your regular purses. I would probably bring a Coach or Dooney & Bourke purse the first day because those are less expensive than a Louis Vuitton.

If you are labeled as a "rich b*tch" (thats what the public schoolers call us around my area), just relax: It's not the end of the world, just make it clear that you are NO b*tch.

I would bring a Coach Tote than a Juicy Couture Purse or a D&B Purse. Keep the Chanel, LV, Gucci, and Prada until you have seen what other girls bring to school. Just like I wouldn't wear Miss Sixty's, Sevens, True Religion, Dolce & Gabanna, DKNY, or Rock & Republic jeans until you knew what other girls wore.

Good Luck (:
-Catherine

p.s. Some other advice: Don't make a big deal that you have designer names because a lot of kids probably do (at least they do at my school, even though it is all-girls private), and people will hate you if you brag.

Something I could start doing after 2 years training in community college or even work my way up from the bottom if I got hired right now, or something I could do after taking a NOLS course? Studying animals, plants, trees, rocks, trail maintenance? Where do I begin? I can't work with the public or any sort of policing/rangering isn't my style, nor anything more dangerous than hiking/backpacking. I can't teach kids or give speeches. I could write reports, make observations, do hard work, but not Sherpa style, and no internships or volunteering which are against my philosophy. Have I whittled it down to nothing?
My philosophy is that I get paid for my efforts in life.
Yeah, not even a clue. I don't even know where to begin?

Answer
I know theres places in the Smokey Mountains like around Ober Gatlinburg that will pay you about 200,000 a year to live in a cabin on the mountain to just...well watch the mountain lol...but you pretty much have to stay there...thats about all I know though...don't know many details about it or how to go about getting hired...I know if they could run dsl/cable out there I might do it lol

Backpacking and abandoned and haunted and odd and strange places in Hew Hampshire?

April Gibs

I am looking for off trail hikes and other trips in New Hampshire. Abandoned hospitals, prisons, trails, rail roads, bridges, tunnels, schools, etc in New Hampshire. Warm springs and springs. Places to backpack, long day hikes, snow shoeing, cross country skiing, etc. Can any one help me out?

Answer
uh oh. OMG I just watched a horror movie last night about some people who went hiking in the winter and got lost then found this old mental, hospital and went inside to keep from freezing.

Only there were some cannibals living in the building and they caught the stupid horney guy that was with them. And the insane inbred hill billy crazies living there started eating them, so watch out! Bring a dog along to bark. Wake up if someone is about to cut off your head with a machete. Do that, and you will be fine. In fact, bring a camera along and make your own Blair Witch style home movie!

I recommend you go to that hotel they used in Stephen King's "The Shining" movie, but bring a bunch of pre-charged cell phone batteries and an m 16 semi automatic rifle with you. And leave behind the kid who writes redrum (murder backward) on the bathroom wall in blood.

What's a fashionable school bag these days?

where to buy school bags for kids image

c

I've spent the whole day trying to find a good school bag, but it seemed the only ones available were either too young, or too old (I'm 16)
And I don't want to be like one of those lame scene kids who have Barbie bags, nor do I want to have a bag that has obnoxious surf slander all over it (I live in Australia).
So what's a fashionable bag, and where can I get it?

Answer
I am 16 too and I am from Australia too LOL. I also spent the whole day looking for a fashionable school bag. I ended up buying a billabong bag, it was about $60.00, but it has a simple design, but still looks cool. If I were you I would just buy like a billabong or roxy bag and just keep with a simple design, nothing to over the top

Where can i buy wholesale kids back to school supplies?

A kid at my school brings bags of smarties to school that only have sour in them. He won't tell anyone where he gets them, but he lives near me, so they are somewhere near. Where could I get bags of ONLY sour kind, or tropical? I've tried 99c store, and Walmart.

What are some good fundraising ideas for a small group of kids?

Lora

We are a church youth group planning on going to Oaxaca, Mexico to work on building a school. Its VERY important to us. We need to raise approx. 1000 per kid. If you have and ideas on fundraising events, or and businesses that may be willing to sponsor us. Please, let me know.

Answer
My son's French club raised $1,066 per student for a trip to Quebec City by selling 6-inch hoagies (subs) for $3.50 each. The sales were phenomenal. Nearly everyone asked was happy to purchase a sandwich. At $3.50, this was something affordable to all. On the day the sandwiches were to be distributed, the students gathered in the school cafeteria to make them assembly-line style, which took only 2-3 hours. This is one of the most successful fundraisers we have ever participated in.

Another popular fundraiser is a cookbook sale. Perhaps the women of your church could help in soliciting and gathering recipes, with an equal amount from total sales being deposited in each child's account. This would also work well for church bake sales, quilt raffles, rummage sales, spaghetti dinners, etc.

The members of a local church are often seen in front of our Walmart selling bags of various flavored Tootsie Rolls for $2 each. They do this each year, to fund trips to South America.

Another successful fundraiser in our area has been the ever-popular candy bar sales through a local candy maker. Ask at your school for the names of the candy salesmen they use. We also have a pizza shop that participates in $5 cheese pizza sales, as well as a convenience store that offers coupons for a sandwich, chips and drink for $5. As with the hoagie sales, these are enormously popular. Check with the pizza shops and convenience stores in your area to see if they offer similar fundraising opportunities.

Last but not least, a local public school teacher found her calling in Uganda, where she eventually settled to set up an orphanage. Through the generous donations of the students who deposited the change from their lunch money into a jar each day, an orphanage, clinic, and school were built and furnished in just over three years. Where there's a will...

It is my hope that you are able to utilize some of these ideas. Good luck to you and your group.

Can you bring Wheeled backpacks into Disney?

We are planning a trip to disney. Can you bring wheeled backpacks into the park?

Answer
As long as they meet Disney's standard size. You can check out disneyworld.com for more information on the exact size and what is allowed in the bags. Disney also has lockers that you can rent, so you will not have to worry about someone staying with the bag. You will not be able to take the bag on the rides with you, so you will need someone to watch it. If you have small kids then rent a stroller and get a regular bag.

Why is it weird for high school kids to have wheeled backpacks?
