He just walks up and down the hallways having conversations with himself. Yesterday, he stopped in the middle of the hallway, jumped up, and said "I hear something Shaking" and started hitting his backpack. Then at lunch he was talking to a pole. Is he schizophrenic? I'm not making fun of him, but i just want o know what is his condition because of my thirst for knowledge.

Answer
Hmmm... there are actually symptoms of different things here.

Schizophrenics (depending on the severity of the problem), display several symptoms.

Schizophrenics don't necessarily talk to themselves. They suffer from delusions (either visual, auditory, or thought-based). Thought-based delusions are harder to define, but they involve feeling that people are looking at them, judging them, plotting against them, or just out to get them. Sometimes the delusions are auditory (where they hear voices telling them to do things), or they are visual (where there'll see things that aren't there.) Schizophrenics can ALSO have the tendency to not move at all or react to external stimuli (a condition called "catatonic schizophrenia.")

Fixating on weird objects or obsessing on objects (like doorknobs, and poles) and communicating with them is a symptom of autism or high functioning autism. But there's a lot more to autism than just obsessing about weird objects or talking to them.

Is he speech delayed, is he able to communicate and instigate conversations with others? Can he differentiate between friends and "acquaintances?" Is he gullible and trusting of others to get screwed over, or is he untrusting of everyone? Does he interact with toys in weird ways (like instead of rolling a car across a table or floor, he flips it upside down and spins the wheels)? When he does talk to others, does he have any eye contact? Does he require to have what is instructed of him to be repeated? Does he have an acute attention to detail (like when he looks at pictures, does he look at the picture as a whole, or does he notice minor details within the photo)? Does he get easily frustrated? How does he perform well in the classroom? And when he talks to himself, can you hear what he says? Does it sound like he is verballizing his thoughts (saying his thoughts aloud) or is he actually having conversations with himself? Those are all questions that are considered when dealing with autistic people (or people on the autism spectrum, such as people with Asperger's, High Functioning Autism, etc...) People with certain degrees of autism often have been diagnosed as schizophrenic as well.

Ultimately, to come to a definitive diagnosis of what he has is extremely difficult to do if you don't know all of the symptoms. There is A LOT that goes into determining what is wrong with someone. The symptoms that you described don't really show the whole picture.

would 7-10 year old kids like a backpack or a duffle bag as a gift?

I have to give a freebie gift to children aged 7-10 years. I've noticed they either carry a cartoon backpack (Barbie, Ben10, Batman, etc) or a branded backpack (Nike, Adidas, Puma) to school.
Would these kids appreciate a well design backpack or a well design duffle (gym) bag to use for travel and hobby classes.
