Hailey Bai

so my parents are giving me $350 to spend on clothes for school. they will buy the actual supplies, underwear, bras, socks, shoes, and backpack. so like how do I like save money on these clothes? are there websites that save us money? thanks!(:

Answer
wow 350?!? i get to share 200 with 3 other kids in my house you should be grateful very grateful i would go to rue21 they have clearance racks of super cute unique clothing in every style for 3-5 dollars and jeans for 5 dollars i would go now the sales are super good! and if you sign up for the email newsletter on www.rue21.com they will give you a printable coupon for i think 5 or 15% percent off of your next purchase you ca use several accounts to get allot of coupons, get your basics like undershirts and Cami's at walmart they might have very cheap ones but rue21 usually has allot, try the strawberry clothing store idk if you have one near you but they have cheap unique pretty clothing there i love it and try pacsun clearance racks too, i wouldn't even check hollister or abercrombiethat'ss just a waste of money for you to walk around with their logo splattered all over you, get your shoes at the shoe department or kmart, surprisingly kmart has very good cheap and pretty clothing for cheap rue 21 also hasallott of shoes too, try ebay for the lot clothingmanyy people sell brand new clothing with free shipping forallott less then stores and all order from places with free shipping, old navy is god for basics like sweaters and tanks but their sizes are big, search google for free shipping websites or codes, search for coupons for stores and use them, consignment stores have very gently used brand name clothing i likeconsignmentt stores they always have the best stuff no one else has! be frugal and save, if i can get by on under 100 and get 30 shirts and 6 pairs of pants + shoes you could have a wardrobe of hundreds of things!

I'm ocd and can't stamd doing stuff last minute well its about 2 weeks till school and my mom hasn't said a word about school shopping but hates when I ask her about spending money because its really really short

Answer
Money is really tight for my family and my mom hates when i ask her for even the smallest amount of money, no matter what the reason, and i always feel guilty about it later, but school shopping in necessary for every kid out there so i just made sure to look for good deals and only bought the necessities.

Im a Junior this year and i already and a perfectly good binder that i never used, so i spent about 20 on a new backpack, and maybe another 12 for index cards, pencils, erasers, pens, paper and notebooks. This was all that was necessary for my class, and i had everything else i needed, or had access to everything else i needed at school.

Clothing is whats going to be the real cash buster for your mom. I hate jackets even when im cold i dont like wearing them and i hate long sleeves anyway so if i do wear a jacket i usually roll up the sleeves...i know its weird right!? Lol, but anyways i looked threw my closet tried everything on to see what still fit, what was to old and worn out etc. Then i bought new clothes to replace the stuff i planned to get rid off that no longer fit.I also did the same for shoes and accessories and realized i only needed about 3 new pairs of jeans, one new pair of shoes, about 7 to 8 shirts, a new jacket/cardigan, and a few small accessories.I tried not to be picky and find the best quality clothes and best brands i could find in regular department stores. I spent 8 dollars on a pair of jeans, and 16 on a cardigan, both on clearance/yellow tag deals at Forever 21. I was tempted to buy new sunglasses but i already have 2 pairs i bought from Hot Topic during the previous semester that were still in good condition. Instead i bought a new rubber bracelet and necklace at Hot Topic for about 15. My moms makes her own jewelry of her own so i didnt think it was necesary to go buy actual jewelry. I spent 110 dollars in total on 7 shirts, a pair of shoes and a pair of jeans at JCPenney. Most of the stuff was on sale or clearance, and i had an additional 15% off coupon. At the bottom of my receipt it showed the total i spent, and the total amount i saved, and i saved my mom 150 dollars. I bought a novelty tee from Walmart for like another 8 dollars, and i sent about 40 on a pair of jeans and another shirt at Target. (I don't have all the receipts in front of me this i just the estimated prices i remember paying)

In total i spent about 230something for all my school clothes and supplies. Just look around, see what you have, find out what you actually need, work with your budget, and find the best deals possible to save as much money as you can on everything so that you have money left over. Never pay full retail price for anything, with careful budgeting and bargain hunting, you can find what you need for much cheaper then you think.

If your situation is beyond bad, try Ross, TJMaxx or Burlington Coat Factory for new clothes and the same brands as most other stores. Stuff is much cheaper in these stores because most for the clothing is new but comes from other stores that either had overstocked on certain items or is leftover clearance items that didnt sell somewhere else. Worst case scenario you can go to a thrift store. Most of the thrift clothes are the same brands you can find in any other store, and most of it cheap, used, or new but donated etc.

I have friends who spent 300, 400, even 500 dollars alone on just clothes, and they always end up complaining they're broke later. I feel sorry for them. But hey, if they have the money to waste who am i to judge :P
