In high school do kids really walk around and bring to class their backpacks?

It depends on the school. I have worked in schools where everyone carries their backpacks because the school is too large to go to your locker, school where only a few kids carried their backpacks, and even some schools that had rules against carry backpacks and backs. Many girls carry a larger purse style bag for their books, and many boys use the drawstring smaller bags that are similar to back packs instead of larger back packs.

Cool backpacks for boys for 2008/2009 school year.?

My boys will be attending middle (public) school this year for the first time on front range in Colorado. We are new to the area. Any idea what is consider "cool" for boys for backpacks? Can boys use messager bags or are those just for girls in middle school? What about slings? Please help. We are getting tired of hunting for backpacks.

Jansport are usually a safe bet and what many kids are using. It is not so common and popular however for boys to use messenger bags and be sure to stay away from roller backpacks!
