Good charities?

Fashion `a

Hi I am having my 13th birthday party. There will be about 50 people, but instead of having them bring gifts, I'll ask for money to donate. What would be a good charity to give this money to?

Answer
Ronald McDonald Foundation but I would look for local things to donate to such as bringing school supplies to your birthday party then donating them to schools at the beginning of the school year because there are always those kids who never get a new backpack or a fresh set of pencils etc. or maybe bring coats and blankets for giving to poor people or the homeless as it gets cold. Toys for children on Angel Trees who don't get picked can be donated to local organizations. There are also shelters around for mothers and children who are victims of abuse and they can always use money.
That is such a cool and great idea. Hooray for you. There should be more people like you around- and at 13 -what a great thing. You make me smile. Good luck!!!

Does anyone know of an organization/charity that accepts used school supplies/kids art supplies?

I'm clean sweeping the house and have tons of old/used school supplies, backpacks, scissors, pencil holders etc and would love to get them directly to someone in need rather than throwing them out or giving them to goodwill. But all I can find are org. looking for brand new donations. My stuff is in perfectly good shape.

Answer
As far as back packs go, you could call a local shelter where homeless kids may be living. They may also be able to use the supplies as well. You could also call the boys n girls club, big brother big sister, a ronald mcdonald house, or any local school. Head start which is a preschool for kids from low income families may also take donations
