I need to pack my bag for school, but I like being handy and prepared. What should I bring in my bag, besides the obvious, pen, pencils, and paper?

Answer
bottled water, a light jacket (compact so it will fit in your bag), small calculator, perhaps some highlighters, sticky notes, and index cards. tissues and a light snack are also good to bring. furthermore, as a precaution, it is always good to have an emergency dollar or two in a safe part of your bag. also, i really like to have a mini pencil sharpener with me, so i don't have to fight my way through all the desks to the pencil sharpener. just make sure not to empty shavings onto the floor. lol. and, as much as i hate to disagree, the first person is WRONG. do not bring medications to school with you, unless you're older, like in college where they don't have rules against medications. in grades up to 12, however, most schools will punish you for having meds, sometimes even cough drops. there are other things to use that are technically not medication. these are a few to check out (make sure you are not allergic):

http://www.shoporganic.com/product/badger_headache_soother_balm/personal_aromatherapy (badger headache soother. i use this stuff for headaches all the time at school.)
peppermints, for a sore throat.
water, as it can always help.

depending on age...keys to the house? wallet? cell phone?

finally, a folder/binder works wonders. if you get dividers, then you can divide all your classes up, and then by assignments, notes, homework, handouts/worksheets, and reviews/ quizzes. also, i bring a planner with me to keep my assignments in order. hope i helped! =)

Trying to raise money for a chariatble foundation at school. Any good ideas?

Q. Okay, we're raising money for a charitable foundation, and we need good ideas. We already have done (and can't do again):

A raffle
Bake sales
Dress down day (where we can wear whatever we want if we pay like 3 dollars, instead of wearing a uniform)

We're already thinking of doing:
A movie night in the auditorium
An after school story time for little kids

Yeah. So anything other than those things, please list 'em! I'll give best answer to the person that gives the most ideas that I actually decide to use, so list as many as you can think, even if you htink they sound stupid. Oh, and the school goes from nursery to eighth grade, so all age group related activities work! Thank you!

Answer
A 'fashion show' where the kids or teachers dress up and put on a show for the parents, you charge for entry and everybody has fun.
A talent contest same idea.
Some kind of quiz or word puzzle. Get one off the internet or make your own, then people pay to enter and have some kind of chocolates for a prize.
Bag-packing at a local supermarket: put out collection boxes and smile sweetly ;)
Sponsoring form a local company, the kids parents might be interested of they have their own business maybe?
Teachers vs students (or parents) sports event
Sponored silence
Sponsored spelling event (the kids have a sheet of words to learn, and get relatives to sponsor them. At the end they all get tested and are sponsored for the number of words they get right)
Have an all ages crafts/cooking event, then sell the spoils.

Good luck with it :)
