New Zealand Customs?

Q. I'm going to New Zealand next week for a school trip, and I wanted to know if I can bring any food with me like chips, cookies, chocolate bar(basically snacks). I hear it's really strict and i've been searching through the net but all I got was "don't bring food".. Is it just raw food?

Answer
New Zealand has very strict quarantine and customs laws.

You canât even bring the food given to you on the plane (such as cheese, biscuits etc.) into NZ, and fresh fruit as well as dried meats, salamis, dairy products, tea bags, coffee, bread are also forbidden.

If you are carrying food, it must be declared. Some items, such as canned baby foods and milk powder, are allowed into NZ

.. however I believe potato chips are ok, I have them between Australia and NZ traveling, as long as you declare them and show them it's OK. Chocolate bars are OK, don't go for anything with nuts in them though to make sure. Hold off on the cookies, they can see that as 'dairy' products because of eggs in them.

The meats and fruit is what they really look out for.
